Hey bro, did you ever get to editing the HC09 roster using the madden DB editor? Is it just a case of importing that config file and putting the roster file in the editor? I've got some experience using Horizon etc from NCAA14 to move files back and forth but havent done anything like that for HC09 as of yet.

Sure I'd love to tell you the difference. I have played both 09 and 06 and I have loved both. 09 has its own fun to it, but the personal touch of Madden 06 and seeing the Position Coaches and Coordinators in the board room with you is an experience like none other. I love how you are a 3D coach with an office that will change sunlight outside depending on what time of the day it is. Overall 06 had more true be a head coach type of gameplay. 09 has more stats, progressions, and draft gems of its own but if you like 09, 06 you may enjoy even more. I love both and put 06, slightly above 09. I am currently working on 2020-2021 Rosters for 06.
