“We are thrilled to have partnered with HB Studios and 2K to create and distribute the first-ever tournament play mode within a console game, featuring some of the most recognized PGA TOUR events including THE PLAYERS Championship,” said Len Brown, Chief Legal Officer and Executive Vice President Licensing for PGA TOUR. “The career mode will allow our fans to rise through the ranks and earn their way onto the PGA TOUR, where they will compete on authentic TOUR courses.”

  1. Hopefully going forward 2K will expand on the use of the PGA licence. Incorporating Playable PGA Pros is something I’m really interested in. Playing one off tournaments appeals far more than slogging through a career mode.
Love the fact that 2K has partnered to publish the game. Like Dazraz said, hopefully 2K will expand on the PGA license and make this a great golf game series!
I'm curious to see if they eventually make other pros playable, and in doing so, whether or not they eventually introduce attributes to the game. I personally like the way it currently is, but I do wonder how they go about the potential of introducing guys like Tiger Woods, Brooks Koepka, etc. if they do not have attributes in place to differentiate them.
Definitely exciting to see them link up with 2K though; should open them up to some resources that they simply haven't had in the past.

I don't see it on the PlayStation store or the Xbox games home page.* Yet this articles states that it's now available.

I've had my XBox One X game installed since 12:20 AM EDT. It was in the Microsoft store promptly at midnight.

I think they'll eventually try to cash in on using PGA TOUR players. They've got licensed PGA TOUR courses, and have stated they'll be doing more in the future. Why not spice it up a bit with some recognizable players?

    Dear HB and 2K,
    Bah humbug. Fork you.
    Sincerely,
    PS4 users

Umm this is probably more Sony's fault than anyone because their PS store does not update at midnight.

what if they simply mo-cap their swings but leave attributes out of it? :y11:
I don't want them to put real pros in the game. When you do that you open up the door for attributes and that really takes away from what the game is all about. It shouldn't cater to attributes but from actual user skill. You would fall into the pit of doing this by adding real life players who distinctly play different from one another.

I get what you're saying, but couldn't they just put real pros in the game and not give them any attributes? I'm dating myself here, but the old EA Sports "PGA Tour Golf" on the PC way back in the olden days had a bunch of pros, but no one had any attributes. I just liked it because you got to use certain guys whose swings you particularly liked watching (although they never had Freddie Couples, unfortunately...) or for whatever reason just liked using. I remember I always used to use Billy Andrade for whatever reason.

I loved using Anthony Kim during his hot minute of fame.

Anthony Kim. Woods and Kim did a spot on a golf show some time ago. Kim is hitting driver on the range. Woods asked him what loft he had on his driver. Freakin' Kim had to look on the bottom of the head to find out. Woods just laughed.
So this is a PGA tour release but you can't play against real golfers? No way to download real pros to compete against? Just playing against other generic cpu golfers?
    if so...I am out.

    Then you're out..maybe next year.

Yet... it's coming, perhaps as premium DLC, but it is coming for those who want it. That's why I think it should be DLC because not everyone wants it.
    Ooookaaayy, it's finally out!
    Now, question.
I've played TGC and TGC2 on PS4...and made several courses.
If I get TGC 2019 on One X, will I be able to download my courses to the new game to tweak them? This is a clutch question for which platform I'll get this for...but I'd prefer to get in on X if I can!

    Dan,
I am not sure on your question, but I am sure that if you can't bring your courses over to an X, you should get the X and start over.....it is that good, IMO.

Thanks Divot. Definitely getting it, but it'd be a huge plus if I can finally put the butts in the bleachers on my courses LOL
I messaged HB on Facebook with my question...here's the reply:
"The courses are tied to your Gamer ID on the PS4. You would not be able to transfer them while using an Xbox One."
That helps inform my decision. Time to think for a bit!

Good luck with the decision. The X is the finest piece of console hardware I have ever owned.
I bought it at launch anticipating 4K/HDR from TGC2019 and have not been disappointed.

So last year I went into my single player season and exited the nationality and name of the players. Found a site that listed their handicaps (or estimated), or used player rankings. Something like that I forget now lol.
My point is this...the players are not all at the same level per se, so on that note I see no reason why they couldn’t use the real players if licensing isn’t an issue.

The PGA license agreement came late in the development cycle.
Look for the names in a future update possibly, but surely next version as they grow the license and relationship with the PGA TOUR.
Lastly, the player names are not included with the PGA TOUR license. They are separate from the license itself.

So reading into what you said there - do you mean future paid DLC?

HB/2K have put this game in the AAA price bracket but unfortunately haven’t delivered a title worthy of the asking price. It’s foundations are exactly the same as TGC2 aside from the enjoyable but super limited matchmaking game modes.
The game needs to be updated to an acceptable level before paid DLC is even considered.

It looks like a beautiful and peaceful place, would be nice to go play golf or just sit and relax for while in a good weather. Places like these should be promoted more.
