Battered Wife Syndrome: In lay terms, this is a reference to any person who, because of constant and severe domestic violence usually involving physical abuse by a partner, becomes depressed and unable to take any independent action that would allow him or her to escape the abuse. The condition explains why abused people often do not seek assistance from others, fight their abuser, or leave the abusive situation. Sufferers have low self-esteem, and often believe that the abuse is their fault. Such persons usually refuse to press criminal charges against their abuser, and refuse all offers of help, often becoming aggressive or abusive to others who attempt to offer assistance. Often sufferers will even seek out their very abuser for comfort shortly after an incident of abuse.
Just substitute out abuse and abuser for madden and EA.
Now we move into the final phase, when the Devs come back and you seek comfort in theyre soothing apology (read: half-*** patch).
The lyrics may have changed but its the same old song.
Ill see you all back next year when we'll do it again.

Osatwork.com was a god send for me as the regular OS site was filtered at work. I could still access all the OS goodness, (except blogs) but now the creeping reach of regulation has reached out and gobbled up anything ‘/forums’. And seeing as how I do about 90% of my interweb surfing at work, and 99% of my time on OS in the forums, well….. you can do the math.
And I'm probably not the only one affected. All these filter ‘engines’ seem to be in lock step with each other, so if your on here using osatwork if you haven’t been locked out of the forums already you probably will be soon (and you’ve probably never been able to go to peoples blogs so your not reading this anyway).
Its been a fun couple of years.

1. $900,000,000 for hamas controlled Palestine. (Guess our economy recovered when I wasn’t looking and we've got money to burn (and hamas stopped being terrorist too! Fantastic!!))
2. A carbon tax on coal, which provides 54% of our power. Which will not only bankrupt the coal industry (something obama said he wanted to do) but, with out a doubt lead to even greater economic disaster. Maybe well run this country on the power of ‘Hope’.
3. $4,200,000,000 for the convicted felons at Acorn.
4. $300,000 for new cars for congress.
5. Blaming lenders for the credit crisis because they lent money to people who couldn’t afford it, then having federally subsidized lower lending standards. (the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results). Yes, our president really is that un-informed.
6. Saying (read: lying) this: "I'm proud that we passed the recovery plan free of earmarks, and I want to pass a budget next year that ensures that each dollar we spend reflects only our most important national priorities."

7. Getting rid of the missile defense systems in Poland so the Russians can ‘help’ us with Nuclear armed Iran. Isn't that akin to asking a drug dealer to help you get rid of the crack heads?
8. A trillion $ tax hike. “But I'm getting a tax break” sure you are, but investors and small business, the people that keep this economy running and employee 80%+ of the people in this country aren’t. And guess who employees you, or your family, or your neighbors.
And, of course, repealing our 2nd amendment rights.

Much has been said about President Obama and his supposed 'role models'. Even the president himself hasn't been amiss to trying on the masks of Lincoln, Franklin Delano Roosevelt or John Kennedy on occasion, and the press has gone out of its way to treat the Obama Administration as the Second Coming of Camelot.
But in looking at the actual decisions Obama has made as opposed to the rhetoric and the stance, a different model comes to mind.
During the first three weeks, the new administration has taken steps and signalled its intentions to vastly empower Big Labor, hike taxes, commit to huge amounts of government spending that will vastly inflate government and make millions of America's beholden to the political status quo, and nationalize and ration health care.
They have essentially already nationalized America's financial sector and its biggest manufacturers, while underwriting mortgages at the taxpayer's expense to people who couldn't afford them in the first place. They have also decided to take control of the US census and put it in the hands of the White House, while putting forth legislation to create another Democrat House seat and two new Democrat senate seats in DC, have given access to $4.2 billion in government funds to ACORN and are not only supporting 'comprehensive immigration reform' but encouraging future immigration from the radical areas of the Middle East at taxpayer expense..thus buying themselves an increased electorate to ensure Obama's re-election and keep the Democrats in a majority on the taxpayer's dime.
At the same time, new legislation proposed by a prominent member of Obama's party is wending its way through the House that would significantly affect Americans' right to keep and bear arms.
In addition, Obama and his party have voiced that they want to put a great deal more emphasis on 'International consensus', significantly cut America's defense budget and scrap missile defense and most of our nuclear arsenal.Obama has put a man who is essentially a political apparatchnik with absolutely no intelligence experience in charge of the CIA, and has taken steps that distanced America from some of its most important allies.
Last but not least, there has been a lot of talk about new 'hate speech' legislation, and significant noises from some of the Democratic players in the Senate and the head of the FCC about muzzling the opposition with a 'fairness doctrine' while using government funds to bail out Leftist organs like the New York Times - thus controlling the information flow.
Most Americans won't recognize this pattern, but my readers on the other side of the pond just might.
Obama's model? Britain's Tony Blair and New Labour.

Blair and Labour took over from the Tories with almost exactly the same kind of hope n' change rhetoric featured by Obama. And like Obama, Blair was young, charismatic, and a polished speaker with a gift for sound bites, a charismatic lawyer wife and poses Britain's Leftist media loved.
Blair and Labour had the advantage of taking control of a Britain that was already quasi-socialist, but Blair and his pals in parliament took this to new heights by increasing the power of the unions, increasing the size of government and the nationalization and government control of the economy and aspects of everyday life heretofore undreamed of.
At the same time Blair vastly increased Muslim immigration into Britain, with the idea that these would become Labour's future constituency. He named Muslim Peers to the House of Lords, established the anti-Semitic, jihadist Muslim Council of Britain and increased Britain's pro-Muslim, anti-Israel stance. it was under his rule that London got the nickname 'Londonistan' because of all the Islamic terrorists who had homes there in Britain's increasingly radicalized mosques and madrassahs. These morphed into the 'no go ' sharia ruled areas in many British cities today.
Blair also emasculated Britain's military by cutting its funding and scuttled most of the Royal Navy, something neither the Germans nor the Japanese managed to do in two world wars.
Blair also took the guns away from the British population which led to rampant increases in crime.
Blair was derided in many circles as 'Bush's poodle' because he sent troops to Iraq, but the reality is that he distanced Britain away from the special relationship with the US and towards the EU, which also meant sacrificing a huge amount of Britain's sovereignty. And in Iraq, Blair saw to it that the Brits utterly failed to perform their mission to secure Basra, largely because Blair pulled most of them out as soon as he had the excuse and let the Shiite militias take over the city while the Brits hid behind sandbags out at the airport. It took the Americans and the Iraqi army to actually clean Basra out.
At home, the government control of the media and various `hate crime' legislation have led to a Britain where free speech is once again at a premium, and a man can be arrested if he shows his country's flag at the wrong place and the wrong time.
So, if you want a clear idea of what Obama's model really is, look to the Labour rule of Tony Blair and his successor, Gordon Brown. They've had over a decade to destroy their own country, and have done a fairly decent job of it as I write this. Obama is starting from scratch in a country where socialism has only gotten a toe hold thus far, and barring a Constitutional amendment he will have less time to accomplish his agenda, but unless he's stopped by the American people while there's still time I'm certain he'll do his very best to proceed and make America a lot more like Britain..especially if the changes he puts into place grease the way for a like-minded Democrat successor.

Well apparently the military can recognize a threat to america, but can the goverment?
With the out going dofus apologizing for not getting amnesty passed for the millions of criminal illegals here. and the incoming dofus active in getting illegals registered to vote there doesnt seem much hope in curtailing or stopping the overflow of illegals and the cartel war going on on our border.
Hopefully after 4 years of trillion $ deficets, wacko climate policy, and an open border overflowing with drugs, sociatal parasites, and coming soon: terrorist, maybe we can get some real leadership in DC.
but I doubt it.

• A provision that takes about 8.8 trillion cubic feet of natural gas and 300 million barrels of oil out of production in Wyoming, according to the Bureau of Land Management. The energy resources walled off by this bill would nearly match the annual production levels of our two largest natural gas production states — Alaska and Texas. The actual change will come in the near future, when this ongoing profligate moonbattery presents us with a choice of national bankruptcy or Weimar Republic–style hyperinflation.
• $3 million for a "road to nowhere" through a wildlife refuge in Alaska.
• $1 billion for a water project designed to save 500 salmon in California. At this price, each salmon would be worth far more than its weight in gold.
• $3.5 million to help celebrate the 450th birthday of St. Augustine Florida, in 2015.
• $4 million to protect livestock from wolves that Congress helped reintroduce into the wild.
• $250,000 to help bureaucrats decide how to designate Alexander Hamilton's boyhood home.
• $5 million on botanical gardens in Hawaii and Florida.
A more sensible generation would have dragged most of these clowns out of the Capitol by their ears for a tarring and feathering. But then, a more sensible generation never would have elected them in the first place.

Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevitch gave a press conference and struck back at his attackers in a unique and effective way ...by nominating a political ally for Obama's vacant senate seat that his fellow Democrats are going to find almost impossible to disavow.
The appointee in question is Roland Burris, former Illinois Attorney General, who has raised money for Blagojevitch and donated his own money to the governor...and who just happens to be black.
Burris gave more than $20,000 to Blagojevich's campaign fund on his own and through his consulting and law firms, Burris' consulting company received about $290,000 in state contracts with the Illinois Department of Transportation a few years ago, and a number of the clients Burris' firm lobbied for also got state business.
What a coincidence!
To underline how the race card is being played , Blago enlisted another political ally, Congressman Bobby Rush to go postal at the press conference, daring white Democratic senators to block a black man from joining the US Senate.
.
He told the assembled reporters "not to hang or lynch the appointee as you try to castigate the appointer" repeatedly said that Burris would be the only black in the US Senate and then said that no senator would want "to go on record to deny one African-American from being seated in the US Senate".
He is very likely right.
Rush, by the way is a former Black Panther who defeated Barack Obama in the 2000 Democratic primary when Obama, then state senator challenged him for his seat in the US House of Representatives.
Blagojevich finished off by telling Burris "you're the senator". And as he left the room, Blagojevich echoed Rush, saying: "Feel free to castigate the appointer but don't lynch the appointee."
Now the Senate Democrats have said that they won't seat a senator appointed by Blagojevitch, but there are some um....technical difficulties.
Blago can legitimately argue that according to the Illinois State Constitution, he was legally mandated to pick a replacement for Obama. And while Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White, who has to formally approve the appointment says he won't do it,he's constitutionally mandated to do so and Burris could successfully file suit to get him to do so.
Once Burris is on his way to Washington, we could actually be treated to the spectacle of a black senatorial appointee being removed physically from the Senate chambers.
The Senate also has the option of delaying seating pending an investigation of the propriety of his appointment by the Senate Rules Committee. Those almost always have a sixty day limit, which would bring us to March 20th. If Blagojevitch has been impeached by then ( and that's no certain by any means) the Lieutenant Governor of Illinois would have to find legal grounds to rescind Burris' appointment and appoint someone in his stead...which means Burris could dispute it in court, which could take months.
My guess is that Burris will end up being seated, because of the race card and the desire of senate Democrats to put the mess behind them.
After all, what's one more crooked politician from Chicago?

Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich Busted for Corruption
How thoughtful of Democrats to rescue us from the Culture of Corruption. The latest from Obamaland:
Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and his chief of staff John Harris were arrested Tuesday morning in Chicago on two counts each of federal corruption charges stemming from allegations Blagojevich was trying to sell President-elect Barack Obama's vacated Senate seat to the highest bidder.
The arrest is part of a three-year probe of "pay-to-play politics" in the governor's administration. The criminal complaint by the FBI says each man was arrested on two charges of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and solicitation of bribery.
The charges also relate to allegations that Blagojevich and Harris schemed with previously convicted defendants and Obama associates Antoin Rezko, Stuart Levine, Ali Ata and others to arrange financial benefits in exchange for appointments to state boards and commissions, state employment, state contracts and access to state funds.Blagojevich (D) also attempted to use government assistance to the sinking Tribune Company as leverage to suppress editorial criticism. He took office after the last governor, George Ryan, got 6 1/2 years on federal corruption charges.
Get used to Illinois politics. Next month they're going national.

As promised by Obamunists, the election of The One means we have now transcended race in politics. Or maybe not:
The race to replace Barack Obama as Illinois' junior senator heated up Tuesday as Rep. Bobby Rush, D-Ill., called on Gov. Rod Blagojevich to name a black man or woman to the seat.
By invoking race, Rush, who is black, drove a potential wedge between the prospective white and black contenders for the seat. Rush said it would be a "national disgrace" if Obama's seat were not filled by an African American.Rush is a former Black Panther, who must be really feeling his oats about now.
Rather than transcending racism, we have plunged into it headlong by electing an unqualified candidate largely so that liberals can feel self-righteous about his skin color. Blacks will have ever more privileges showered down upon them in the short term, but even they will lose out eventually, because a backlash is inevitable. So much for judging by the content of character.

Napolitano to Head Homeland Security
To the disillusionment of anyone who imagined Obama would even pretend to take the War on Terror or border defense seriously, Arizona's unsuccessful governor Janet "Nappy" Napolitano has apparently received her pieces of silver for backing The One in the form of the top spot at Homeland Security.
Michelle Malkin explains what this means for border security:
Napolitano's heart lies with the shamnesty crowd. She vetoed a bill cracking down on phony matricula consular cards for illegal aliens and rejected efforts allowing more cooperation between local law enforcement and the feds. She opposes assimilationist measures on English language and ID requirements to prevent voter fraud; she supports in-state tuition discounts for illegal aliens.Crappy Nappy, as some fondly call her, can be expected to do for the DHS bureaucracy what she did for Arizona's state government: bloat it with flab until it can't be sustained. She has turned a $1 billion surplus into a $2 billion deficit.
Nappy the Troll's exit will be the best thing to happen in the Grand Canyon State since Barry Goldwater was born. But as Phoenix talk host Bruce Jacobs points out, Arizona's gain will be America's pain.
As an AZ resident, Ive witnessed 1st hand her incompetence. Feel our pain America.

Nominating: Happy Gilmore, the Breakfast Club? Bruce Almighty???
And vetoing: Seven, The Thing? Star Wars??
My head hurts. These are the people that make Meet the Spartans and Pirates of the Caribbean hits. And people vetoing movies that they haven't even heard of? that aint right.
I present my own top 100 movies, In no particular order(well, somewhat alphabetical).
Ive starred some unknowns and older films that people might not have seen, check 'em out.

The following excerpt is not from a Kafka novel. It's a prelude to our future under Obama. From newly blue North Carolina:
http://www.newsobserver.com/news/dur...y/1292635.html
Derogatory remarks toward President-elect Barack Obama made on a social networking Web site are now the subject of an internal police investigation.
A police department employee claims the statements were made on the MySpace pages of two Durham officers.
"There's no exact words that were said," said Police Chief Jose L. Lopez Sr. in a telephone interview Wednesday from San Diego, where he is attending the International Association of Chiefs of Police conference. "It wasn't a racial slur, but we're still investigating it."
Unless they're talking about death threats — which doesn't seem to be the case — criticizing Chairman O on your free time has already become a cause for major investigations. If you have any doubts about putting a sophomoric Marxist who surrounds himself with people who hate this country in charge of the government, now might be a good time to express them, while it's still technically legal.

The Horseclan series by Robert Adams. Violent, fun, short and decently written, what more could you want? There's 19 and they are hard to find but you could probably pick ‘em up for a buck or 2 at a used book store.
The Rolling Thunder series by Viet-nam vet Mark Berent. A great fictionalized account of Berent 4 years flying in Nam.
Harold Coyles Team Yankee. Ignore his other work its horrible, but Team Yankee centered solely on a single tank platoon in WWIII is riveting.
The List of Seven by Twin Peaks co-creator Mark Frost; A fictional Arthur Conan Doyle and a agent of the queen attempt to stop a demonic plot against Victorian England.
Marine Sniper by Charles Henderson. 93 confirmed kills. Winner of the Silver Star. Nuff said.
Legacy of Heorot by Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle, and Steven Barnes. Absolutely the best Sci-fi book I've ever read.
Cornelius Ryan: A Bridge Too Far. Blow by blow account of the heroism and debacle of Operation Market Garden.
Matthew Stover: Revenge of the Sith. Stover is just an amazing writer. Even if you just have a passing interest in Star Wars this book is incredible. If you are a fan and you haven't read it yet, your truly missing out.
David Gemmell the Drenai series.
Frank Herbert: Hellstorms Hive. A disturbing look into a madmans scheme for our world. A classic that I'm almost to afraid to read again.

Sorcerer (1977): William Friedkin directed, with Roy Scheider and crew trying to transport a load of nitro thru a South American jungle. Gripping to say the least.
Fresh (1994): 12 yr old chess prodigy Fresh gets diabolical on thugs and hustlers to get out of the ghetto. With Sam Jackson.
When we were Kings (1996): Doc about the Rumble in the Jungle.
Dark City (1998): “Dark City by Alex Proyas is a great visionary achievement, a film so original and exciting, it stirred my imagination like Metropolis and 2001: A Space Odyssey.” – Roger Ebert
Saboteur (1942): A forgotten Hitchcock classic.
The Beast (1988): ‘a Russian tank gets lost among Afghan rebels in the desert and ends up locked in a supersized cat-and-mouse game’
Equlibrium (2002): the video speaks for itself.
The Hunted (2003): Another classic from Friedkin. Don't bring a gun to knife fight.
Killing Zoe (1994): Is there anything much better in the movies then a bank heist gone wrong?
