First of all, the graphics have greatly improved from last years 2K9. All you have to do is watch the trailer for each version and you can see the resounding difference. Yeah, there aren't as polished as EA's, but they're good enough for me.
Next, the list of features they have listed so far, are outstanding. Having online Franchise, Roster and Slider share, along with gameplay additions of Stick Lifting and Stumble Shots, very nice! The Roster Share feature should make waiting for updates much easier. Slider Share will be nice as well, as it's not always easy to come up with that right set. Stick Lifts will be a welcome addition also, so long as they are implemented right. EA had these for 09, but they were too effective and players stopped skating when stick lifted. Plus it often resulted in an automatic loss of the puck. Hopefully 2K doesn't have the same issues.
In closing 2K10 may not have all the hype and buzz surrounding it right now, but for some reason I'm confident Visual Concepts is gonna release a solid game this year. 2K9 was the first year the series was developed by VC. While it was flawed and incomplete overall, the foundation is set. Now, much like EA did with NHL 07, they can build on that. 2K10 is the start of that process.
