To the Stars and Beyond- Mission 2012 and Beyond.
This blog is my attempt to document my Royals Franchise as I lead them from the final stages of rebuilding to consistently winning the American League Central and then to constantly winning the World Series. Because of my small payroll I will be focusing on trading proven Major Leaguers that can easily be replaced, for high caliber prospects. We will also be focusing heavily on the MLB Draft and developing those players. As we become winners and get lower draft picks it wont be uncommon for me to just let type A or B free agents go to secure another, hopefully higher draft pick.

"1st Overall"; The phrase that all the Fans love and most General Managers dread. For the fans, just uttering the phrase awakens them from their ranting state and sends a smile across their face. For General Managers, it makes the stress acne increase. In most cases, there is never one clear cut talent available for this spot.

General Managers send their scouts across the country to uncover the truths behind mysterious tales of 5 tool players and flamethrowing arms. Occasionally, the ... Read More

Royals Rookie lefty Will Smith needed just 86 pitches to record his 1st major League shutout. He absolutely dominated the Oakland As by allowing 7 hits striking out 6 and inducing 5 inning ending double plays.

Royals right hander Felipe Paulino has continued to struggle so I have decided that he will remain down there for 3 more starts allowing Smith to continue to start. This was not a decision based on Smith's performance but on the performance of Felipe Paulino who's job it was ... Read More

After giving a strong year in A ball last year, Jake Odorizzi started there again and absolutely dominated. He forced my organization's hand and we promoted him to AA to allow Tim Mellville to develop as a reliever.

After hit .888 with 1 homerun and 10 RBIs at NWA (North West Arkansas) with the Naturals in 68 at bats, Cain has been promoted to AAA to get around 60 at bats at which point he will return. A corresponding roster move will be decided at that time.

It has been just a few weeks since I sent Billy Butler and Bruce Chen for David Price and Desmond Jennings. At the time of the trade, Butler had just been recalled from AAA because of an 0-20 streak and was showing that he improved by hitting 3 homeruns his first day back and then going on another massive cold streak where he hit only singles and put up around 5 RBIs. Chen was coming off a few rough outings but was finally starting to put it together until he got absolutely rocked in a game that ... Read More

LHP Will Smith, made his debut against the Yankees and pitched incredibly, going 6 innings, allowing 3 earned runs over 7 hits and striking out four. He has a decent 2 seam fastball that can get most Major League hitters out an incredible curveball with tight break that comes in between 78-84 mph and a decent changeup and a waste pitch slider. After leading the Royals AA team the Naturals in wins last year, I started him there again to have him improve his command of the changeup and slider. After ... Read More

After today's 3-2 victory over the D-backs, I traded Cody Clark (D potential) for the pirates top catching prospect, Tony Sanchez. Sanchez will play in AAA and will spend this year there and next year compete with Bryan Pena, Manny Pina and MAYBE Humberto Quintero for the back up position behind Sal Perez.
I traded for Sanchez because of his decent bat and incredible fielding ability behind the plate which in the future would allow us to be able to give Sal a rest without sacrificing our ... Read More
