Hello Madden fans, it's quinnguy66 here telling you guys the top 10 Position Types in Madden 13. Connected Careers is a new mode in Madden NFL allowing you to be a player or a coach. If you choose a player for your CCM (Connected Careers Mode) you will choose to either Import a Game Face, Create a Player from scratch, choose an active player, or an NFL Legend (The information I'm telling you is for Game Face or Create A Player, because active players and Legends have there own skill set). When you create your player it will ask your player type (Pocket Passer QB, Speed HB, etc.) Each one you pick will edit your ratings and physical atributes some are more fun than others, some aren't. I'm here to guide you thru it and tell you which ones YOU will have more fun playing.

How Research was Done: By spending all my time with the EA Sports Season Ticket trying out all 40 Player types so this article/blog entry will be ready on or before release date and it looks like I made it before!

10. Vertical Threat TE
The Vertical Threat TE Discription Reads: 'Choose this type if you want to begin your career as a vertical threat tight end. You'll start with higher physical ratings than most other types but you won't have higher intangible ratings that others will.'
NFL Comparison: Vernon Davis
Teams That Need a TE: Bears, Broncos, Giants, Steelers, Eagles
Report: I think out of all TE types this is by far the most fun. You start off with a rating of 83 on 'High Draft Pick', an 80 on 'Low Draft Pick', and a 74 on 'Undrafted'. Overall the Vertical Threat TE is one fun type. You have very good hands and can go up and snag jump balls, BUT the Vertical Threat TE is not a very good blocker if you want to do it all I would recommend the Balanced TE.

9.Balanced OLB
The Balanced OLB Discription Reads: 'Choose this type if you want to begin your career as a balanced outside linebacker. You'll start with decent speed, acceleration, and agility and your intangible ratings will be pretty average. This means all your ratings will be decent but none of the great.'
NFL Comparison: Terrell Suggs
Teams That Need a OLB: Vikings, Giants, Eagles, Bucs, Jets
Report: The Balanced OLB is probably my favorite Defensive Positons in CCM. You start off with a rating of 80 on 'High Draft Pick', a 76 on 'Low Draft Pick', and a 71 on 'Undrafted'. Overall the Balanced OLB is a fun type for gamers who love to sack the QB. Your big enough to move the lineman out of your way and powerful enough to destroy the QB, BUT if you want to strictly sack the QB I'd recommend a team that runs a 3-4 Defence, and if you want to be Balenced I'd recommend a 4-3. (Tip: I know your looking at 3-4 Pass Rushing OLB to be a great pass rusher but DON'T your not even strong or big enough to go past the lineman)

8.Speed WR
The Speed WR Discription Reads: 'Choose this type if you want to begin your career as a speed receiver. You'll start with higher speed and acceleration ratings but you won't have higher intangible ratings that other types will.'
NFL Comparison: DeSean Jackson
Teams That Need a WR: Colts, Dolphins, Panthers, Broncos, Browns
Report: The Speed WR has been in Madden games for as long as I can remember and it never gets old. You start off with a rating of 76 on 'High Draft Pick', a 71 on 'Low Draft Pick', and a 67 on 'Undrafted'. Don't worry about the low rating it's only because of low awareness and strenth, those ratings are important to overall but not that much of an in game effect. This is good for gamers who love to catch a short pass and run, BUT if you love to catch deep balls an like better hands I'd recommend the Possession WR.

7.West Coast QB
The West Coast QB Discription Reads: 'Choose this type if you want to begin your career as a West Coast quarterback that teams like the Brown covet. You'll start with higher short accuracy and mobility ratings than most other types but you won't have very good deep accuracy or arm strenth ratings that other types will.'
NFL Comparison: Steve Young
Teams That Need a QB: Browns, Jaguars, Cheifs, 49ers, Titans
Report: This is as close to a Michael Vick and Cam Newton scrambling type QB as these types go. You start off with a rating of 80 on 'High Draft Pick', a 75 on 'Low Draft Pick', and a 69 on 'Undrafted'. This is more fun of a scrambling QB than the only other QB type close to scrambler which is Balanced. If you like escaping the pocket for 20 yard gains and quick passing it under pressure this is your guy, BUT if you like airing it out to streaks and deep slants I STRONGLY recommend a Strong Arm QB. (No pun intended)

6.Prototype CB
The Prototype CB Discription Reads: 'Choose this type if you want to begin your career as a athletic prototype corner. You'll start with higher speed, strenth, and acceleration ratings than any other type but your coverage and intangibles will be pretty low.'
NFL Comparison: Nnamdi Asomugha
Teams That Need a CB: Lions, Patriots, Saints, Vikings, Steelers
Report: If you think of the perfect physical CB in your head, that would be the Prototype CB, you can keep up with Mike Wallaces and swat the ball away from Larry Fitzgeralds. You start off with a rating of 84 on 'High Draft Pick', a 80 on 'Low Draft Pick', and a 77 on 'Undrafted'. This is one fun type, the ratings are amazing for all 3 backstorys. If you love to pick of passes and run cross field to make a tackle than pick Prototype CB, BUT if you love to smash RBs and force fumbles I recommend the Press Run Support CB type.

5.Playmaker S
The Playmaker S Discription Reads: 'Choose this type if you want to begin your career as a playmaking safety. You'll start with higher intangible ratings than most other types but you'll be limited in coverage.'
NFL Comparison: Ed Reed
Teams That Need a S: Lions, Texans, Patriots, Eagles, Packers
Report: Ed Reed, Troy Polomalu, Brian Dawkins, what do they have in common? Making big plays at big times which is the definition on the Playmaker S. You start off with a rating of 80 on 'High Draft Pick', a 75 on 'Low Draft Pick', and a 69 on 'Undrafted'. This position is probably the best defensive back type in Madden 13 and very fun to play. If clutch picks and big hits is something you enjoy I think the Playmaker S is a type you should at least try, BUT if your not gutsy enough to leave your zone to make a hit and give up a big play I recommend the Prototype S.

4.Prototype MLB
The Prototype MLB Discription Reads: 'Choose this type if you want to begin your career as a athletic, prototype MLB. You'll start with higher physical ratings than most other types but you'll have lower intangible ratings.'
NFL Comparison: Ray Lewis
Teams That Need a MLB: Ravens, Seahawks, Titans, Vikings, Bucs
Report: The Prototype MLB (in my opinion) is the best defensive position in CCM. You start off with a rating of 77 on 'High Draft Pick', a 75 on 'Low Draft Pick', and a 70 on 'Undrafted'. The Prototype MLB is a tackle machine, it's crazy how easy it is to read runs with the new camera (incase you didn't know for defense in Madden 13 CCM it's the same camera as defence in normal games, instead of the reverse direction one in the past and also in NCAA 13 RTG). If you like smashing RBs in the backfield pick the Prototype MLB it won't disapoint, BUT if you love swating passes and being the super linebacker everyone hates I'd recommend the Cover 2 MLB. (Tip:I'd also recommend having the Prototype MLB on a team that runs a 4-3)

3.Red Zone Threat WR
The Red Zone Treat WR Discription Reads: 'Choose this type if you want to begin your career as a big red zone threat receiver. You'll start with higher catch in traffic ratings and you'll be bigger than most other types but you'll have lower route running and catch ratings.'
NFL Comparison: Calvin Johnson
Teams That Need a WR: Colts, Dolphins, Broncos, Panthers, Browns
Report: My top WR type out of the 2 on the list can do anything a WR needs to catch the ball. You will start off with a rating of 85 on 'High Draft Pick', a 81 on 'Low Draft Pick', and a 77 on 'Undrafted'. The Red Zone Threat WR is loaded in Jumping, Spectacular Catch, and Catch in Traffic with a default hight of 6'5. If catching the ball where ever it goes is fun for you, go with Red Zone Threat WR, BUT if you like catching quick slants and turning 6 yard throws into 50 yard TDs I recommend #8: Speed WR

2.Pocket Passer QB
The Pocket Passer QB Discription Reads: 'Choose this type if you want to begin your career as a pocket passer QB. You'll start with higher accuracy and arm strenth ratings than most other types but you won't be very mobile and have a high ball carry rating, which could lead to sacks and fumbles.'
NFL Comparison: Tom Brady
Teams That Need a QB: Browns, Jaguars, Cheifs, 49ers, Titans
Report: The classic pocket passer, it's more fun this year than it was in previous years, I tossed six TDs in one game with a pocket passer on All-Pro. You start off with a rating of 82 on 'High Draft Pick', 79 on 'Low Draft Pick', and 75 on 'Undrafted'. This type is the best QB in the game, no doubt, if someones open and you hit that button, boom, right on the money. If you enjoy heaving TD passes and racking up yardage you should roll with Pocket Passer QB, BUT if you want to be the next Fran Tarkington or Steve Young at QB, I'd recommend #7 West Coast QB

1.Balanced HB
The Balanced HB Discription Reads: 'Choose this type if you want to begin your career as a balanced halfback. You'll start with decent speed, acceleration and agility and your intangible rating will be pretty average. This means all your ratings will be decent but not great.'
NFL Comparison: Maurice Jones-Drew
Teams That Need a HB: Redskins, Lions, Bucs, Colts, Packers
Report: Drumroll please! This is number 1 you cannot beat the Balanced HB it's the most fun position in Madden 13 CCM. You start off with a rating of 79 on 'High Draft Pick', 74 on 'Low Draft Pick', and 69 on 'Undrafted'. Unstoppable. You have speed to zoom past DBs and the power to flatten LBs. If you love doing it all than pick Balanced HB, BUT...but nothing! This is the ultimate RB. (Tip: in my opinion the best way to make this running back is 5'7 230 lbs. with 10 on the thigh size slider, it's like a MJD Michael Turner clone)

Great write up man. Don't have the game yet, so glad to see you took some time to determine what positions were more fun to play. Thinking I might go Red Zone Threat WR on the Dolphins, try to help out Tannehill!

Great insight man. I've been on the fence on which position to use. I just used Schiano in the first year. But im thinking of creating Jarvis Jones as a LOLB for the Bucs. Thanks
