2K has revealed another gameplay video for TopSpin 2K25 today providing details on the different game modes, features and customization options in the game. Remi Ercolani, Game Director, and Jesse Scott, Associate Principal Designer return to discuss TopSpin Academy, where players can hone their core gameplay skills. With the guidance of tennis legend John McEnroe, the academy offers Basic Lessons covering fundamentals like positioning, timing and shot selection. Advanced Lessons dive into techniques like power serves and lob shots, while Playstyle Lessons explore the strengths and weaknesses of different playstyles, aiding players in customizing their MyPLAYER characters.
Players can also play Exhibition matches offering various offline and online options. Offline matches include single player singles or doubles with an AI partner, as well as local multiplayer with human partners, supporting up to four players. Online Exhibition multiplayer features skill-based random matchmaking and supports cross-platform play. Unfortunately playing with friends is something the team has planned for the future.
For those who have honed their skills in the TopSpin Academy and Exhibition matches, the next step presents three choices: 2K Tour, MyCAREER and World Tour. In 2K Tour, players select a licensed pro and compete online against another player and their chosen pro. Daily featured pros and objectives provide opportunities to earn points and climb the leaderboard.
MyCAREER allows players to create and guide their own MyPLAYER through the Men’s or Women’s Tour, competing in tournaments to achieve the World #1 ranking. With extensive customization options including hairstyles, skin tones, body types, apparel and play styles, players can truly personalize their experience. Managing their player’s schedule and energy levels adds depth to the gameplay. In the World Tour, players take their MyPLAYER online to compete against others, earning Tournament Points and climbing the global leaderboard. Winning matches and tournaments across modes earns XP and VC, which can be used to enhance attributes, unlock coaches, purchase apparel and accessories for a unique style.
TopSpin 2K25 is scheduled to release on April 26 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC via Steam. The Standard and Grand Slam Editions will feature Roger Federer and Serena Williams on the cover, while the Deluxe Edition will have Carlos Alcaraz, Iga Świątek and Francis Tiafoe. Early access begins on April 23 for players ordering the Deluxe or Grand Slam Editions.
