When it comes to playing GM style franchise modes where you build rosters (or maintain them), which mode do you typically move to when starting up the mode?

Do you opt to take a lowly team and build them into a contender or do you opt to take a top team to create a dynasty? Or are you simply more pragmatic and just take your favorite team in whatever state they are in?

I always roll with the Knicks. There in a interesting place with there roster. This season I keep yhe team mostly but always trade afflo by the trade deadline. After that during the draft usually trade away lopez and caldoron for picks and then try my hand at free agency. It usually takes about 2 to 3 seasons before I'm a real threat but I always get Melo that ring

I generally have more fun playing with weaker teams and building them to create a dynasty.

But I also use the Mavs and Knicks every year,in whatever state they're in.

Pick a broken team and fix them. Luckily (or not?) my favorite team is the Orlando so they were an easy choice.

I like rebuilding teams in most sports games, but I usually always start with the Sharks in NHL. I almost always opt to take on a rebuilding project in The Show, and I'm happy I can get deeper into a franchise now because of Year-to-Year saves (shameless plug).

I like to either make a dynasty here between Wall & Beal (grab Durant if possible but he almost always stays in OKC) or take a lowly or middle of the pack team & try to grab a younger superstar like Westbrook, Drummond, Cousins, etc. and build around them.

I usually rebuild a team and make them into my own

In NBA I like a rebuilding project, although I'm not a huge fan of the 2K rookies. That being said in The Show always roll with the Giants

Personally, I like to restart the league using a Fantasy Draft option and then build up from there. Just gives me more of a sense of ownership. Usually using my favorite team or a team close to where I live now.

I like rebuilding teams more than successful. My favorite team is the T-Wolves, and I have had fun turning them into contenders each of the past few years. It's usually year 3, but this year I did it in year 2. It helps that the core team is a blast to play with, too.

But 11 years ago when they were one of the best teams in the league, I would almost always go for a different team the Cavs (I'm from Ohio) before they got LeBron/early in his career.

I had some fun a few years ago turning the Devin Harris-Brook Lopez Nets into a contender.

That is always my preferred method of playing. Though, this year, I may jump back into GM mode with a team like the Spurs, at the tail end of their dynasty, then try to keep it going with the younger guys.

I also might just do MyLeague and use legend teams...I dunno.

the past 2 years I have been doing a fantasy draft and letting the AI sim the entire draft for the entire league, my team included.
I like to create a unique alternate NBA universe. and with the amount of options to control that universe, I get a challenging association mode.
I set it up where it takes longer for players to peak, drafts are thin with talent, a strict low salary cap with a 5% increase every year. longer to heal injured players.
NBA 2k is great like that

I take lowly teams and build them up. Since my teams are garbage right now, from a video game perspective, things are great.

I mostly prefer rebuilding. I just started a franchise with the Jets in M16, a franchise with the Mets (opening day rosters) for MLB 15, and I'm in season 2 of a Knick myGM (2K15.)

Mets: 11-9, 1 GB of 2nd WC spot on April 27 (simmed)

Jets: 0-0, made most of the cuts Jets have (I even traded Coples to Ryan's Bills ('Fins didn't want him.)

Knicks: simmed season one, made the playoffs, I did trade Smith and Shumpert and cut Chandler. I lost to the Heat in 6 in the first round. I drafted Jarrell Martin and Myles Turner and signed Brook and Robin Lopez (couldn't resist putting both on the same team when I saw they both hit FA.)

I'm into January of season two, and 4 games back of the Nets for the lead in the Atlantic. The Nets signed Klay Thompson and Jimmy Butler and got rod of Joe Johnson. I' a half game back for fifth in the East.

I do like playing with my teams; I had a Yankees franchise for a bit on MLB 15, I like using the Nets, and I've had fun 'chises with my Ravens. At the moment, I'm using teams that I like but that are semi-rebuilding projects.

Well in Madden at least I take the Texans at least this year may roll with a different team next year. They are middle of the pack and just a few pieces away from being a contender.

My goal is to build them into a dynasty before next madden. I had nearly at least made them a contender before restarting

I always try and take a team that either HAS replaced their real life counterpart or is rumored to be a team where that position is on the hot seat and "fired" my predecessor before the start of the season (since console games still don't let us start with an offseason).

This allows me to get some great variety of teams over the years.

Try to replicate a successful season of a team I like, or play with a favorite. Other than FIFA I haven't finished a career mode season in many many years though.

Always the Phillies in The Show.

Cusp of future greatness when I started. RIP, Phillies.

I like building teams up. This is why I really miss NCAA Football, I loved taking a lowly team, whether they be in a midmajor conference or a week school in a power 5, and build them up after several years into a contender.

When it comes to sports games nothing for me ever replaces the thrill of taking my favorite team regardless of what state they are in and playing them for multiple seasons.

NFL - I have always played as the Miami Dolphins. I have played them when they had the golden years of Marino, the dark years of the ever revolving door at QB post Jay Fiedler and Ricky Williams, and now trying to win a Super Bowl with Ryan Tannehill.

MLB - Oh yes. Bring on the hate. I am a die hard Yankees fan. Simple as that. But I have done franchises with my hometown team in the Marlins. In fact I played them for 5 straight seasons on MVP 2005 and won 2 WS titles. I have yet to win a WS title on MLB The Show with the Yankees. I have come up as much as a game short in the ALCS, but I have yet to even make the October classic playing The Show from 2009 and currently on MLB 2015. It's amazing.....I have played 1000's of games on The Show but that title still eludes me regardless if it is a classic Yankee team (1978, 1987, 1988, 1994, 1996, 2009) or my current modern day Yankees franchise carried over from MLBTS 14 and in year 2 as well. I am cursed!!!!!

NHL - Always my Panthers. And we always seem to suck. But this season I have hope and I am off to a great start. Can Jagr bring home the cup to South Florida?

NBA - Always The Heat. Starting with NBA 95 on The Sega Genesis. I have played as my Heat. NBA Live 2005 I missed the title in 2 full season played on that great game. Tough losses in the Finals to Dallas and LAL both seasons I played.

I won 3 straight titles on NBA 2K11 in 5 full seasons. It was awesome. On NBA 2K15 I made the post season and floundered in the first round. Currently on 2K16 I am off to a 18-9 start in year one.

So whatever state my "teams" are in is who I roll with. Sometimes it's great, sometimes it's a rebuild, sometimes it is languishing in mediocrity.

I generally take my favorite team as is and build them into the contenders I need them to be. I do not worry to much about the players on the team. No one man is above the group but how do these players fit the current team's play style. Do I even want to keep this play style. I am also not opposed to shaking the management up as well. It has not been easy seeing as my favorite team is The Lakers and runner up is the Spurs(Super Easy Lol) but I do what it takes to get the job done.

Mostly 3 with a little bit of 1. I'm a Philly sports guy through-and-through, but sometimes I like to mix it up and go with a small market team and build them up into a contender.

Of course this depends on the game, as with NCAA games I'm always building up a smaller program. I don't always play with my alumni institution. With FIFA I don't have a specific team so it's a bit random until they bring Creation Center back (if they ever do). Then with the "Big 4" I find I like to fantasy draft 50% of the time. Sometimes with my main team, sometimes not. Perhaps concurrent dynasties.
