R.B.I. Baseball 15 News Post

R.B.I. Baseball 15 has been officially announced, along with a teaser trailer, which can be seen here. It will be available as a digital download this spring for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, MAC, iOS and Android devices. Nothing for old-gen consoles (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3).

Check out the new features and more in the press release below.

Today, MLBAM officially announced R.B.I. Baseball 15 will be coming to baseball fans this spring, marking the second edition of the iconic video game franchise as developed for next generation consoles, smartphones and tablets by the NY-based media and technology company. Since the easy-to-play game returned last year, MLBAM has been working to deliver an all-new R.B.I. Baseball for 2015, which will include high-resolution graphics and a suite of new features, many driven directly from fan feedback during that debut season.

R.B.I. Baseball 15 also will mark the introduction of two prominent players as featured athletes, whose contributions on and off the field symbolize the importance of sportsmanship and giving back through charitable organizations, children's hospitals and local communities. Chicago Cubs All-Star first baseman Anthony Rizzo will serve as the game's first-ever cover athlete (See the video here) while 2015 Baseball Hall of Fame inductee Pedro Martinez has signed on to promote the title.

Rizzo, 25, will be the first Cubs player featured as a cover athlete for a baseball video game in more than a decade. A native of Florida, Rizzo was named to the 2014 National League All-Star Team, finished the season ranked among the top ten in nearly every offensive category, including second with 32 home runs, and was the youngest player ever to be honored with the Branch Rickey Award for exceptional community service.

Martinez, a two-time cover athlete for the World Series Baseball series, also was once-upon-a-time included as a pitcher in previous versions of R.B.I. Baseball during the early years of his playing career in the National League. A three-time Cy Young Award winner, Martinez was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame earlier this year, receiving 91.1 percent of the votes the first time he was on the ballot. Martinez, who finished his 18-year career with 219 victories, a 2.93 ERA and 3,154 strikeouts, will be inducted July 26, 2015 in Cooperstown, N.Y.

I was all in until I saw it's not for 360, just next gen and mobile. Maybe I'll get the mobile version for my tablet or phone.

Nice, stat tracking.

If RBI was smart they would go the route of an Ultimate Team mode with HOFers. This would give them an edge over The show.

And still appears to fall short of super mega baseball. Do they not pay attention to what their competition is doing.

More reason to buy super mega baseball. I doubt we will be able to mod it to any extent too.

Might be interested in this one. Had no interest in 14.

[Goes back to playing Super Mega Baseball]

Having no off-season or multi-season elements is going to hurt the game this year, I think. I don't know if they're doing enough with this next game to make it worth another purchase.

Yeah! Us X1 owners have a new authentic baseball game #sarcasmalert

Better than nothing for Xbox 1

We on the Xbox will have better chance waiting for backwards compatability then getting a good next gen baseball game. Hence so I can play the bigs 2.

Is this modeled after the old Ken Griffey Jr franchise? With the cartoon style players, KGJ was fun as hell, besides not having the real names

I'm surprised at all the hate thrown at this already. RBI 14 was a disappointment, but it sounds like they've responded to a lot of the criticisms (full rosters, stat tracking, real stadiums). As long as they fix the issues with catching flyballs, I think the gameplay is fine for what it is. It's not meant to be an alternative to The Show. I'm just disappointed it's not going to be on the 360, but I'm pretty sure I'll get it for my iPhone.

I don't think it's hate directed at the game. I'm glad for those that want to play the game, but it's just frustration for those of us that really want a sim baseball game on X1. It's mind-boggling that there isn't one.

You can't edit players, can you? If you could, I'd be all over this!

Support Super Mega instead incredible what that studio did with only 3 people

Happy for the very notable improvements, but this might end up becoming a mixed bag playing the half-and-half game. Meaning, now that there is a view behind the plate there are so many new expected items that come into play, especially with the hitting and pitching models.

If they kept it straight and made a suped up Ken Griffey Jr. game, that would be the golden ticket. Until then, I hope they keep making and improving the product they have. I'm just glad to see a '15 coming out as is!

Ahh, but it could have the real names. I edited about 18 teams last year or the year before on the SNES version of Griffey, Was AWESOME!!!!!! Sorry, not to derail this thread.

As a guy that grew up with original RBI Baseball and picked up an Xbox One over Christmas, I am intrigued. My buddy and I still play old school best of 7's for 30 packs. I can't get him to go the 2k or Show route as he just wants pick up and play. This may get us next gen 30 pack best of 7'n....or someting like that.

If you're looking for a game on PSN that's similar to Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball, I recommend checking out Baseball Stars 2.

Baseball Stars 2 is a much better game than R.B.I. Baseball 14 was, and it costs 80% less (only $4):
