Pros:
The pitching and hitting interfaces are probably the best (most entertaining) I've seen in a baseball video game. The pitching in particular is very innovative and a breath of fresh air.

The fielding is serviceable albeit it seems like the fielders move a tad bit too slow but it's not to much of an annoyance.

Cons:
The multilayer pitching meeter is lame and there are no options to hide the cursor and change any of the settings so playing with another person is pretty much worthless as the batter knows exactly where the pitch will be.

Overall:
Great single player experience IMO. With some tweaks it could be an amazing multilayer game.

I'll keep it simple- Sports Game of the Year.

Just so you know, the fielders move faster if you control them manually. The higher your ego level the slower they run on their own. I play on ego 70 so what I like to do is run with them until I'm in the general area then let go of the left stick and let the CPU take care of the last few feet, since it can be hard to judge where a fly ball will land since there's no fielding indicator.

Best $20 I ever spent!

Received Polygon's Sports Game of the Year award. Pretty embarrassing for the big studios that they got beat by essentially a 3 person development team.

I want to see this game go much further. A PC version in other words. The editing community would take this game to unseen levels and really cement this title in folklore. Imagine all stadiums and uniforms of MLB replicated for example. Insane!

8/10 for now. Great idea for a game, but lacking in some customization aspects that should be existent in an arcade-style, unlicensed sports game. Solid, quick gameplay, with great difficulty adjustment. 8/10 simply for lack of customization options; can easily be a solid 10/10 with a good update/patch. Without better customization, I can see the game going stale. With a good update, it could be an instant classic.

Agree on the lack of customization. There's a lot of twins running around because of that. 8/10 from me as well.

Super Mega Baseball is pure enjoyment! I'm playing Season mode with a customized team full of friends, relatives, enemies etc...It really adds to the fun!!!
I'm a huge MLB The Show fan...and this game is a fun change from the highly realistic style of The Show. I think Super Mega Baseball actually gets the diving/jumping fielding mechanic much better than The Show. I've been able to make some amazing plays on defense that are not possible in The Show.

I agree totally with your analysis of The Show's defense. The jumps are too scripted, meaning you get the feeling when you jump or dive for a ball in the The Show that there is no real sense of accomplishment, it feels like the cpu is doing to work. In SMB if feels right. My only gripe is when a pop fly or fly ball is hit above the camera angle it's hard to see where it's going to land. In RBI Baseball the shadow of the ball would change size based on where it was in the air, e.g. the shadow would be at its largest when the ball was at it's highest point, and it made judging fly balls fairly easy and realistic. It also built a sense of anticipation as you could watch the shadow and you could get a feeling if you can catch it or dive for it. I don't' recall a single baseball game after RBI that implemented the shadow and in my opinion it is the the shadow was and still is the best way to present a fly ball to the end user in game play. Nothing else even comes close and it boggles my mind as to why it isn't a staple in every baseball game made.

This game would have been perfect for me to play at work on the Vita.

3 plus years of development and not being able to get bogged down with licensing issues

Great graphics, great game play, nice play mechanics. Well worth 20 bucks. Not a huge fan of the "coach" player upgrade system, would have preferred something along the lines of Power Pros, I mean you upgrade your players the game gets easier so you change the ego level, I think this would have worked better over multiple seasons. Still great game 8.5/10.

Just picked this up this afternoon. I got one full 5 inning game in so far.

Initial thoughts....this game is incredible.

Controls are simple. Menus are easy to navigate.

For someone like myself who doesn't get a lot of free time to play games, this one could easily become a favourite.

More impressions as they come.

Oh, and as for a need for a Super Mega Golf, we already have something as close as it gets. A little franchise called Hot Shots Golf. Far better than Tiger Woods IMO.

I find the aiming part of pitching mechanism very interesting... I don't know if the whole system makes sense in view of replicating the difficulty of commanding pitches, but it seems very effective in pitches to not go to the desired location all the time. It is a very interesting approach.

I like this game I wish it was on PC to add to my collection of baseball programs.

This game is just pure fun! I'm really glad I bought this.

Good game. I will just put some notes here on my thoughts:

* There needs to be more manual fielding, a.k.a. 1990 RBI baseball fielding. There is no need for a human to do anything in the field (at least up to ~30-40 EGO)

* Primarily a hitting/pitching game. At low Ego, you don't need to do anything other than swing.

* This would be amazing on the Vita.

* A few more modes, and this game would have lots of legs. Being able to change up teams, multiple seasons, or something akin to Baseball Stars would be amazing.

* Well done Multiplayer would bring this game into discussion for GoTY for sports.
