Madden NFL 15 News Post

In a trailer yesterday, Madden's defensive line controls were revealed and they were quite simple: square for a power move, x for a finesse move, use the l-trigger to try to steer an OL.

On one hand, this will likely help the line play feel more realistic as the game can 'work' better with fewer user options and should still be quite responsive. On the other hand, users may not feel they are getting to select how they get to the QB and instead will be mashing a button to get there.

How do you feel? Are the controls going to work for you or would you like more?

Although this addition is welcomed and sounds pretty interesting, it'd be nice if they could have implemented the moves on the right stick with a modifier (such as LT), much like how 2k basketball used to do their dribbling moves. That would allow more user control IMO.

I haven't played yet. Can't tell you.

I'm going to wait until I play the game before making a decision.

Underwhelming . It feels like EA is running out of ideas on what to do with the game play.

This is EA after all so I'll wait til I play it before making any decisions.

You can't really say until you've played an alpha, beta, or demo IMO.. I wish we had access to the Madden 15 like we've had access to Destiny or other titles that don't come out for a couple of months.. Wishful thinking.. ha

After the ridiculously complex controls in EA's UFC game, I personally welcome a more simplified approach. Fewers controls that work intuitively are preferable to a multitude of moves that may be possible but rarely play out as expected.

Oh wait, this is OS, that is what everyone does.

My fav is the "This game is trash, only good as a frisbee." "What didn't you like about it?" "Oh I never bought it."

Once people learn the exact timing it takes this will be so overpowered that playing online will not be fun. You can plainly see in the videos shown that once a defensive lineman beat his blocker the blocker just gives up and stands around doing nothing. Animations are intensely stiff, especially for a next gen title, and for those guys at tiburon puffing their chests out like they have accomplished something, why has it taken this long to make the defense a legitimate part of Madden? Why can we not control the offensive lineman like we used to be able to? I just want Madden to be "THAT" game and I doubt it ever will be. Same old same old with a new coat of paint and over powered gimmicks.

There should always be options. If you want complexity in your controls you should have an option. If you want an intuitive and simplified approach, you should have the option. That way everyone is happy.

im gonna keep my opinion short and sweet as I haven't played the game yet and have no idea how responsive the face buttons will be.

I would have preferred using the right stick maybe in a combo with a bumper or trigger for a modifier.

We'll see soon enough

It just seems like to me that they are. Focusing on the wrong things, but this new feature does seem pretty dope I just hope the game is as good as they make it out to be...sn I honestly think 2k and. What it has done with 2k basketball could make a very solid football game

looks like it works well.

EA revamping the controls means nothing. Ineffective defensive line play is the reason people started nano blitzing. In other words I'll believe it when I see it.

They are focusing on anything that they can use to sell games this year, which ever year that may be. This year they are trying to hook everyone on how many changes they are making this generation. So that you can upgrade if you haven't already and be forced to buy their product if you want football.

I don't want to go all out here, because this is a Madden question, but why does everyone say 2k is so great? I bought NBA 2K in March as my first PS4 game. The only reason I kept it more than a week was because gamestop didn't have a pre-owned copy to start with. Online and animations were both great, but the single-player AI and lack of control was atrocious. A lot of stuff happened in that game because of bad/wrong animations and ridiculous teammate AI, coupled with some mechanics that either didn't make sense or weren't consistent at all.

I probably went on a little too long there...

As for Madden, I welcome the new controls as they hopefully make engaging/disengaging much easier and logical, but I won't be able to judge the level of control until I actually play it, of course...

Haven't played the game yet so not really sure how it will feel, but looks like you push a button and it does whatever move it wants. I would rather be able to do the moves like swim move, bull rush, club, speed rush, etc. with specific analog moves but once again I haven't played the game so we will see how it goes.

It's a faaaaar better system than using the right analog stick. However, I'd prefer they did what All pro football 2K8 did and have the swim, rip, club and spin all assigned to a trigger rather than just a finesse and power button. 2K8 gave complete control when it came to pass rush moves.
