In their press conference yesterday, EA Sports showed off Madden NFL 15, FIFA 15, NHL 15, EA Sports UFC, and EA Sports PGA Tour as their sports games. Not counting EA Sports UFC, which releases next week, which more distant upcoming game was the most impressive to you coming out of the press event?

NHL looked cool but was happy to see in-game footage of Madden.

It may be too early to make serious assumptions based on heavily edited trailers and few examples of raw gameplay footage, but I'll submit my rankings anyway (from worst to best):

4. PGA Tour. Didn't think I'd be saying this last year, but The Golf Club seems like it'll provide serious competition. Frostbite and the removal of load times are certainly intriguing, but trying to bring in new sales with over-the-top courses (the infamous battleship sequence) reeks more of desperation than an attempt at something fresh. An arcade mode may be fun, but I'm not holding my breath.

3. Madden 15. Not much has been revealed that really impresses or wows me about M15. I'm interested in the new presentation (especially what they'll add in real time) and I'm looking forward to off-screen gameplay, but the rest of the stuff doesn't scream "must-buy". Sure, graphics look better and NCAA's player lock feature should make for more variety and a better CFM as a player, but these aren't back of the box worthy additions. If this is a more "under the hood" version of Madden, why not add True Step locomotion for all 22 players? No more excuses with the new hardware.

2. FIFA 15. I'm underwhelmed by FIFA as well this year, but only because next-gen 14 is already a solid game and I think 15 will only add minor improvements. Hopefully those will allow for a better playing game than in past years. We'll see if the vocal fans who hated the removal of Tournament Mode get it back. Not sure if I'm alone in thinking this but there may have also been a slight graphical downgrade. We'll see when actual gameplay hits.

1. NHL 15 by a longshot. Yeah, this is only a trailer but it's one that certainly leaves an impression. Apart from some iffy-looking player faces, NHL's right on par with NBA 2K14 as the best looking next-gen sports game. The attention to detail is there in spades and everything seems to look tremendous, right down to Ovechkin's trademark toothless grin. Hopefully actual gameplay and commentary improves on what we saw here, but like in NHL 07, the "year off" seems to have done wonders for EA Canada. EA's game of the show, in my opinion --- yes, even above Dragon Age and Battlefield. Here's hoping normal gameplay is as impressive.

NHL 15...by far.

ya NHL (10 characters minimum required by OS).

# 7 spidertour02 @ 06/10/14 01:06 PM
NHL. I do have to give PGA Tour credit, though -- I don't think ANYBODY saw that coming!

Madden & NHL for sure. UFC is looking more disappointing the more I see it. Every fighter seems to have a limited & similar arsenal of attack. Bruce Lee should be quicker & he should have a huge variety of attacks smh. Punches & kicks don't seem to have enough pop to them. All take down animations are the same. Idk, I'm starting to reconsider my purchase at this point & might cancel my preorder. I'll wait to see more gameplay vids this week to make a final decision.

By the results of this poll so far, we can deduce that 35.23% of OSers still drink the Madden Kool-Aid.

... "I just KNOW this year they're gonna get it right!"

Bruce Lee was only slower because it was the fifth round of the fight. Im sure hes way faster than that in the beginning rounds.

Good point. I'm just not seeing enough variation in animations between fighters from what I've seen so far. I've only seen 2 or 3 different take down animations. Punches & kicks don't have a sense of pop & power at times. The CPU doesn't seem to use smart strategy. These are all red flags to me. I hope the final game proves me wrong.

Another vote for NONE. I was hoping to have a reason to get a PS4. Still not enough for me to take the step.

NHL
FIFA
PGA Tour
Madden

Really lost interest in madden over the last few years, they just alternate each year saying offence has been improved, then defence the next year, then rinse and repeat. Think the whole button prompting on screen is a terrible idea

Shockingly NHL which seems to have a monumental upgrade (all new puck physics).

FIFA as of now seems entirely cosmetic, similarly with Madden. I don't know what they're doing with
Tiger Woods. A carrier in the middle of a golf game? Sounds like a Hail Mary to me!

I was on the assumption that there would be people playing NHL 15 at the presser

NHL 15 !!!!!!!

NHL 15, Go Kings Go

# 18 Retropyro @ 06/10/14 08:14 PM
NHL 15 hands down. But Madden impressed too, hopefully the focus on defense is real.

# 19 BaylorBearBryant @ 06/10/14 09:36 PM
NHL, no doubt.

# 20 ItsOrangeBaby @ 06/10/14 11:14 PM
I'm going to actually say PGA impressed me the most, but it 100% based off of the frostbite engine.
