The game is definitely not a sim, but I have been enjoying it a lot so far. A definite by for me

I'm the type of person that has bought every UFC PPV since 2005, so they would've had to screw it up REALLY badly for me to not buy it.

It's pretty lame that they only gave us two fighters to chose from. It would be nice to get a feel for a few different fighting styles. That said, the game is great.

Positives: Graphics, Atmosphere, Physics, Foot planting, Fighter damage, etc..

Negatives: Ref doesn't step in to stop fights (they just stop on their own)
You can't jump on & keep hitting once a fighter is knocked out.
Animations can be a little stiff at times
30 fps stands out at times (60fps should be the standard)

Overall good attempt. Graphics are insanely real, submission feels like a separate mini game of guesses and pushing buttons (not a fan) and the stand up is very arcadey.

Also feels like a Disney version of the UFC: Gustafson submits me via arm choke. Before getting up, dude taps my chest several times before doing the victory routine like "Its gonna be ok man..we're bros for life!". Really!?

Still buying it though.

-Game looks amazing!
-Blood & cuts are crazy!
-Details are very realistic. (Ex. On body shots
you'll see the stomach move)
-Presentation (full game will be even better w/entrances
etc.)
-Potential to have some great replay value after
getting used to it.

-
-AI didn't seem real to me (a lot of spamming from
the CPU)
-Gameplay felt like a very updated version of EA MMA
-Speed of the game was a bit too fast, not sure if we
can customize sliders..?
-Awkward moments (wish I could show a video of my
moments but pay attention to them in the demo, you'll
see what I'm talking about..)
-No ability to keep attacking your opponent after he's
knocked out/the ref doesn't come in to break you up.

I'll admit I expected more and thought for a Next-Gen title that it would've played out better. I don't want to nitpick at this game because it's only a demo and it's too early to say. I've been very anxious for a UFC game being a very huge fan off the MMA sport but it's hard not to based off of EA's recent past with sport games (last 5-6 years) and my own personal gut feeling. I also feel with the full game that I can come around. I'll try the PS4 version when it's available and see if my opinion is the same or if it's different.

Demo Grade-7/10

No longer a release day buy for me, the game was 'good' but with no sense of pace whatsoever, just non-stop strikes including ones that were way ott. I will buy it eventually when the price comes down, but I love MMA and their is no way I'm getting this on release day anymore. Unless my opinion changes as I play it more.

Those controls seem very intimidating to me...I was thinking about trying out the demo on the PS4 and I still may but after reading the controls blog it doesn't seem much of a pick up and play type game. I just don't have the time to memorize a million moves...

CPU Bones and Gust are way too aggressive. Definitely not a sim game if you're playing the CPU.

Let me start by saying that I love the UFC. I absolutely LOVED UFC 3 for ps3. To me, that game got the stand up game correct. It wasn't hard to learn and the player knew what move he was doing when he pressed a button. EA UFC is not UFC 3. Yes, some of the controls are similar, but that's where it stops. The ground game is downright aggravating. The submission system is terrible. The stand up game is a mess. The game looks incredible as far as visually. I'd imagine that in the retail version, when I get to turn off the HUD, I will at times be lost in the games realism. As far as gameplay goes, THQ already did the hard work and after 3 games, they nailed it. All EA had to do was build off of that last UFC game that THQ made and this would've been a home run. Perhaps one of the most mind blowing things is just how TERRIBLE Bruce Buffer's introductions are. There's NO energy, NO screaming, NO excitement that anyone who's ever seen a UFC ppv is accustomed to. I hope beyond hope that this demo was put together hastily and that the retail version will be fixed in at least some aspects. At the very least, I hope there's a day one patch to fix some things. If I could swap around controls, that would be a start to getting me to accept what they have done with this game. It is impossible to get in any kind of rhythm in the stand up game do to the fact that you have to hold L2 to bob and weave. There are no counter punches when you come out of the bob or weave, not to mention you are holding the button that is set for lower body attacks. The controls ruin this game for me. I'm going to buy it. I'm going to play it. Hell, I may even begin to like the controls once I learn them all... My point is that this is in no way, shape, or form what I expected from this game. It is, however, EXACTLY what I expected from EA Sports.

The Demo is fantastic, I feel some people need to understand that this is its own game, not a continuation of Undisputed or EA MMA. Take time, learn the nuances of the game, see how that changes things and then post. I am seeing so many negative posts and it seems obvious that many of them are because the players have no idea how to play the game yet and want to blow steam about it instead of learning the mechanics first.

On another note, THE PS4 DEMO IS MUCH BETTER THEN THE XBOX ONE DEMO. Caps so people will see it. I am not a fanboy, have both consoles, been playing the ONE version since yesterday and the PS4 for a couple of hours now. There is a significant difference between the two as if the xbox one is from a previous build. Even has different refs. The game looks better, with less jaggies and a brighter color pallet, but more importantly is plays more smoothly and seems to have extra animations. Sways and counters are easier to pull off and the AI plays differently as well.

my sediments exactly on the "AI didn't seem real to me (a lot of spamming from
the CPU)" this was on easy, i have the controls down and its crazy tryna land a take down. i guess its more about timing than mashing the correct button. hard to to combos as well.

Unless the tone done the CPU aggressiveness I won't be buying to play the CPU. If I was Dana I'd be pissed. This is NOT a true representation if his sport. However, EA did make the game.

Don't care for it. Too arcady for my liking.

So BQ32 took the words out of my mouth! The XB1 version I played last night wasn't what I was expecting. As BQ32 mentioned I too have both systems. I've been playing the PS4 demo now and for some odd reason my experience has been so much better. It looks and feels better! The CPU still spams but out of the 6 matches they were all competitive and each win was different (CPU and I split..). I too am not a fan boy of either system, I enjoy gaming period! But I've felt a lot better about UFC and I may take a lot of time to understand the controls and to just have fun with it. No game is perfect and yes we do wish that certain criteria is met because we spend a lot of $ on games and have high expectations. But for now I'm going to give the PS4 version a 8.3/10 and the grade can go higher because of what's to come in the full title.

To each their own gentlemen haha, clearly my opinion though I own both ps4 and x1 and have a very high end tv, its seems the ps4 version is watered down graphically to me and xbox1 pops as to be said for alot of games. Technically or the fluidity of gameplay I can see no difference either. I just "felt" more comfortable with the game with the x1 controller as opposed to ps4. Alot of minor things that edge it to x1 for myself. I may be the minority but I been spending most my time playing x1 version.

Guys...keep in mind that this is just a demo. CPU should be different in the real version. Maybe they are just trying to help you get used to it once the real game comes out.

+The presentation is outstanding. This is the first sports game that looks as good as a CG trailer.

- I hate the control scheme for strikes, it feels clumsy. I was a hardcore Fight Night player and the lack of an analog control scheme is a letdown for me. I'll get used to it with time, but right now throwing combos feels awkward.
