MLB 14 The Show News Post

It's almost baseball time again in America. We received the full and official fact sheet for MLB 14 The Show yesterday, with several new features which sound pretty darned good.

One feature which hasn't received as much buzz as it probably should is the ability to now take your saved games into future editions of The Show.

That's right, you are no longer throwing away your Franchise or Road to the Show progress when you buy a new game. This is the type of advancement which will likely fuel a whole slew of new possibilities as we go forward in time for sports gaming.

For now though, we're getting to keep our careers going, finally!

Are you excited about the ability to take your save games with you into future editions of The Show? Do you plan to take advantage of the feature? Sound off by voting in our poll to the right on our homepage and above you in the forums!

I'll definitely enjoy having the option to bring my saves to MLB 15, but I may start fresh regardless. I like using real life rosters so I'll probably start a new franchise every year with the updates, but I may keep one franchise running throughout each game. I'll definitely use this feature for my RTTS though. FINALLY a sports game has this!

Road to the Show, yes, absolutely. I hate having to start from the beginning in that every year.

Season, maybe. Will depend on how it works, and what carries over. Probably yes though.

I'm undecided but leaning towards using it in Franchise. It'll be nice to have all the new features and gameplay improvements with the existing team I'm building, but there is desire to win with the stud FA your team signed in real life. After 1 year, your team will no longer match it's real life counterpart, so it makes sense to just continue on with the same save file year over year.

I love this for rtts!! I am also happy they give us the option to use commentary again! I can't wait for May, but I know it'll come fast once baseball season starts! I'll be so busy watching games, April will fly by.

I'll probably start fresh each year, but it's great having the option to continue.

Love this addition! I will use it for Franchise if it gives me the ability to edit the minor league players after the transfer (to add new rookies).

I was thinking about this topic yesterday. I just found out about osfm rosters recently and only last night did I get around to DL'ing them. They look really well done and I wondered if carry over saves meant the death of the full minors project. I hope not. I hope when Show 15 drops, the players from the 14 osfm that did not make it to the majors, the osfm contributors will have some type of spreadsheet rerating those players. The players that DID debut in 2014 I will use their rating off the Show 15 going forward.

I'm using this with RTTS. Depends on how far I progress into Franchise, but will most likely use it as well in that mode.

Does it only work for the previous years game? EX-13 to 14 and 14 to 15(meaning you can't do something like bring MLB13 RTTS or franchise file to MLB15)

I want to know this too. I am sure you cannot go 13 to 14 but going from 14 to 16 would be good if possible

About time a console sports game gave us this option.

It does speak to what these guys want to make The Show. Wonder why no other console sports game developer thought of it or implemented it? Can't just be tech because there's been PS3 games before now that didn't and here's MLB14 on PS3 and 4 doing it.

This is why I will be pushing for....what I deem to be the final piece of the puzzle......
Being able to import players into existing franchises.

It's really been amazing seeing how SCEA saw what the community wanted and brought it to realization.
Roster creation was the reason that SCEA brought me out for the first community day.
Kolbe(SCEA) asked what would make roster creation/sharing better and they came up with Vault. I still remember when they revealed that to me....I was amazed.
Same with the player vault...(next logical step) and the ability to export/import players(THE BEST THING for roster creation!)
Year to Year saves is obviously a franchise addition....but coupled with all of the above....it's a pretty sweet thing to see as far as progression of catering to franchise mode users.

Yeah, I'll probably run two franchises for awhile, one that continues based on my input year to year, and then a new one each year based on updated rosters, etc.

It would be cool to have an Import Feature to bring new players (draft picks, Japanese/Intl. FA's, etc.) into the free agency pool and then migrate them into the proper teams.

Only reason why I'm buying 14, just amazing thank you the show!!!

This to me is a great addition and one I plan on using. Normally I play my Show franchise from OSFM release day until around October/November but then I lose interest simply because I know I won't finish another season before the next edition of the game is released so I sell the game on.

Now though I'll be able to play my franchise right up until the release of the new game each year. Cant wait, moving forward this may be the only sports game I play as other sports games only get a look in around October to March.

Finally they are building a game with the family mans schedule in mind. Now with quick count and maybe not as much needed as before I can complete a true season and carry this over to future seasons. You want my money you got it. Now that I know that as each edition is rolled out I can carry over what I have accomplished I will provide you with a continuing cash cow. Instead of feeling like each rendition is a start over every year where I did not have time to complete the last and lets say I buy a created player from the past for one year Brilliant!!! May other game makers adopt this quickly as we begin this new generation.

I'll play as myself and carry it over until I retire and do the same every year, and also have another save which I'll start new on each game, most likely be something like Jackie Robinson Jr or a character from a movie or something

# 20 AntiBandwagoner @ 02/20/14 04:05 PM
I like the idea of this but I most likely will not be carrying over my saves unless I am really deep into a mode and really enjoying it. Otherwise I like to start fresh with updated rosters every year.
