NBA 2K14 News Post

When it comes down to it, everyone has a strategy for putting a team together in NBA 2K14. Some people prefer the slow build by drafting players and filling in key cogs along the way like the OKC Thunder or Indiana Pacers have done. Others prefer the Miami-style of bidding for the top free agents and putting together a team that way.

Some focus on deep benches, others on loading up with superstars, salary cap or not.

What is your team building strategy in NBA 2K? Sound off with your own philosophy by voting in the poll to your right on the frontpage and above you in the forums. Finally let us know your philosophy in the comments below!

It mostly comes down to having the best possible players at each position for me.

Since I play OAs and you can only really do one season we all trade future assets and young players to build a monster team. Also with the unbalanced stamina I try to have a deep bench of big men and maybe one small backcourt player coming off the bench.

I attempt to make the experience as true to life as possible. I like to take over smaller market teams so I dont trade for the biggest names because the likelyhood of resigning is slim. I do look to find a star and build around his skill-sets with complementary players.

I normally start with the Kings. My star is Cousins and seeing that he is a traditional back to the basket big, I try to get shooting to surround him to give him space in the post. And while I love I. Thomas, he is a smaller guard so I look to get a bigger and longer defender to build the team around. It is def fun to build a team from the ground up. The only problem is that currently MyGM is having logic issues so that can take away from the experience. But once those are shored up, I am sure we can have some fun building a NBA team.

I build through draft/trades.

NBA 2K is fairly easy to scout players, so I can get big idea of how the draft class is gonna look months before the draft happens.

And trading is fun on NBA2K because of the trade finder(something I wish MLB and NHL had). Trade finder is my fave feature on any association/gm mode ever.

I used trades, the draft, and free agency to get Philadelphia the title in NBA 2K14. I ended up getting Jabari Parker in the draft, along with Julius Randle to play PF.

It's easy to satisfy your players in 2K,

Just give them some minutes.

I did the same. I drafted Jabari Parker #2 overall with Orlando. Then I traded Affalo, Harkless, and some picks for Randle. Then I realized Smart was still available, so I traded my next year's picks and Nicholson to scoop him up. So now I'm starting, Smart-Oladipo-Parker-Randle-Vucevic, with Harris coming off the bench. Then I felt really cheap. But the CPU let Smart fall to #15, so I got the deal done.

i try to keep as real as possible but sometimes the cpu just really screws up... and you just have to make the moves that are obvious especially in the draft they let all the good ones go and the cpu drafts like 5 SF on one team knowing they need C,PF etc..

Play as the Blazers and trade everyone outside of Dame/Wes Matthews/LMA for draft picks and Roy Hibbert

This question might be relevant in 2k15 hopefully...
It is UNPLAYABLE in NEXT GEN. Current Gen is a very good game.

For my Denver franchise I ensure I have solid players at each position and depth, then hope to make a splash with a big free agent.
With a team like the Knicks, I follow their motto and trade all my picks and try to upgrade. As a test case with the Knicks I traded JR Smtih +Felton + 1st rounder + 2nd rounder for Rondo. Then I traded Amare and Bargnani for Pau Gasol. So I have a strong starting lineup with Chandler-Gasol-Melo-Shump-Rondo but my bench is trash and I have no draft picks.

I just pick some of my favorite young guys and play a season mode.

Eric Bledsoe, Brandon Jennings, Aaron Afflalo, Demar Derozan, Hayward, Kawhi, Amir Johnson, Channing Frye, Drummond, Larry Sanders.

I utilize two lines, similar to hockey and play everyone even minutes for the first 3 quarters. The 4th Q usually goes to the ones who have been playing the best.

I try building through the draft by gain young talent and sending them to training camp. I start with finding a good passing point guard and scoring shooting guard a versatile small forward and a decent rebounder and a excellent low post big man.

My last pay check was $9563 working 12 hours a week online. My sisters friend has been averaging 15k for months now and she works about 20 hours a week. I can't believe how easy it was once I tried it out. This is what I do... Buzz19.cℴm

For me itslike this for my starting 5

PG has to be athletic and a juggernaut offensively a la D.Rose
SG has to be a threat from deep, have nice size at least 6'5 and good defense. Paul George type
SF has to have great size and defense aand be able to shoot well Nick Batum or Loul Deng
PF is someone who has to rebound well make a mid range shot and have good low post offense
C Defense Defense Defense i want a defensive anchor A blocking machine and a great rebounder

backup PG has to be able to run and offense well and shoot Jose Calderon type
Backup SG HAS to be a scorer Nick Young type
Backup SF Three point shooter Kyle Korver type
Backup PF Defensive force and rebounder Taj Gibson type
Backup C just needs to be a 7 footer and young with potential to grow Tyler Zeller type

I usually trade away pretty much the entire team and always trade everyone over 30 (With the exception of star players that are stars and have played their entire career there and melo) most of my players are under 25 with frequent targets being Kenneth faried, e'twaun Moore, and Tyler zeller. I also almost always attempt to get picks and expiring contracts for my declining players so I can make a splash in free agency and the draft. If I can't get picks or already have what I need I trade them for players or future draft picks. If not, I package my picks and a starter of the same position of my target to trade up. If I miss the player, I trade that pick and a second rounder for him.
