Madden NFL 25 News Post

The SmartGlass functionality, entitled CoachGlass, built into Madden NFL 25 on the Xbox One is EA's newest feature they have announced for their next-gen football game.

The feature allows you to call plays based upon your opponents offensive lineup on your SmartGlass enabled device while seeing your opponents tendencies and history based upon what they are calling on the field with dynamic updates.

It all seems cool, but perhaps a bit overwhelming.

What do you think of CoachGlass and do you plan to use it when you get your hands on Madden NFL 25 for the Xbox One this November?

I think it's a cool concept...but this should be in a coach mode franchise mode where you don't cotroll the action just play calling and strategy

Gimmick to avoid addressing the bigger issue of the lack of "Next Gen" advancement! At this point I'd prefer that they just wait till next year to drop the Next Gen version of the game. They know we're expecting a lot more and they're literally smacking us in the face with a tablet!

It's a huge waste of resources that could have been used to improve other areas of the game. This is why football gaming is in the shape it's in. The devs are always working on stuff that doesn't make the game any better, but they can tout it as a new "feature" on the back of the box. I vomited a little when I opened up the video earlier this week and watched it. Was looking forward to this weeks info and we get this. What a disappointment.

I can't imagine any gamer having the time to put the controller down and scroll thru the ipad etc and pick a play and then have time to adjust the defense or offense without the play clock or other person starting the play. Therefore I'd say EA wasted their time developing something that will rarely be used. It's like putting TV displays on the back head rest of a BMW Roadster!!!

Concept is sound and would be a nice feature in game on the default screen. This trend that both consoles are pushing with mutiple devices for gameplay is wrong headed in my opinion that now developers feel the need to utilize. I play video games to unwind, not to go into information overload. Will try it out to say I did it but doubt I'll use it in the long run.

And yet you didn't share yours. It's actually an innovative feature, Don't see myself firing up the ipad everytime I want to play Madden. Honest opinion, no bashing EA.

I'd use it if I was getting a X1 at launch.

Haven't people been begging for opponent tendencies for awhile?

I think this has potential to be a great thing.

How about they improve gameplay and other game modes instead of trying to implement something that won't be used.

I want more in-depth Career mode! In 2K, the MyPlayer mode is BY far the most favored mode in the game, don't get why Madden doesn't go down the same path. Not this lame connected careers bull**** neither.

I don't think we should classify this as "overwhelming." I'm of the opinion that anytime depth is added to the game we should embrace it.

I agree. I think this would be a welcome addition to a strategist or someone that enjoyed the head coach game that came out a few years ago. I also agree with americas team that I would rather see the game blow my socks off before introducing this add on.

I would like the feature if it was on PS4 at launch as well, but this "Just for Xbox" stuff is annoying.

UH53 in my opinion this is a "next generation" concept.

I really love the idea. It's a "out side of the box" idea. I can see a lot of potential for this to be how the CPU calls plays. I hope the CPU already has all that info under the hood to call plays.

I will use a stand and sit it on a TV tray as I play. I may not call plays in the APP but, having the info will be cool. I hope they expand this and allow us to substitute and make other changes on another screen instead of pausing the game and doing it. Of course it will be pointless if the game is terrible.

I like it and I will use it. I can this feature evolving to where the play calling is on my smart phone/tablet when my buddies are over. No more stealing plays etc.

this is something that should be in the game itself not on another instrument. they had something similar to this before so its really not a new concept. work on fair play and pregrame souting so you know the oerson you are playing before the game starts so you dont waste time playing glitchers and bums

This is nice. I will play with it. It will neat for a couple of games. I like to see the stats and tendencies. It will be fun playing with my brother.

I like the idea. I think it would work a lot better if we had a Wii U type of controller instead of a separate tablet with a controller. That makes it harder to work with.

I love the idea of tracking plays and tendencies. My hope is the cpu actually learns from this and is more intelligent and dynamic as well.
