No one is going to take up college football or any college sports. College sports gaming is done.

Unrelated; I'm sad that this is gone. But if I had a choice between one franchise to return between this and College Hoops I would choose College Hoops.

This is disappointing. That's really the gist of it. Not huge Madden fan on current gen, so my hopes go to EA to utillize the devs for Madden and NCAA together to make the best football they can on Next Gen. Otherwise, I am done with video football I guess.

I'm hoping that one day we will get a completely customizable generic college game...

I'm still ticked off at Ed O'Bannon on this though. All it did was hurt everybody involved. People are going to lose their jobs & the athletes still aren't going to see a dime.

Generic college game would be great. 2K already has a template. APF 2K8.

I only bought NCAA Football every other year, so I wasn't an avid player. But either way, I feel really bad for the people that may lose their jobs over this.

I'd love to see some sort of generic college game that is customizable, basketball and football.

Sad, sad news!

Always preferred NCAA over Madden. :'(

I would also like to see this. But I have also been hoping for this for 8 years from 2K on the pro football front, and it has never come to fruition. My guess is that developers don't believe there are enough people that go through the work to edit/import/share teams?

But seems like they would save a lot of money on lisensing. And they already have a core game in place.

To me this is awful news. I enjoy college basketball and now days even college football more than I do the pros, mainly cause of that idiot Roger Goddell ruining the pro game, and now there wont be any college game to play.
I know some people feel they may come back with a fully customizable game without the NCAA logo and fake colleges, but if they do that I think it will be quite a while before we see that happen.

I suppose I will get use to it, cause I eventually got use to no college hoops game ( boy do I miss CH2k8). Actually this is the 1st year in a while I had bought a EA football game cause I had gotten tired of them putting out a poorly glitched game, but decided to buy it this year. I guess if this us the last NCAA football game they went out with a bang cause this years game is the best to date overall when it comes to football.
They really do need to support this game and not do us dirty like they did with NCAA college basketball. Patching and fixing the non working penalty sliders would go along way in me regaining some respect for EA, and if they did that then I might actually consider buying Madden down the line since it will be the only football game out.

This is sad news but, unfortunately, it's not surprising. After all, at the end of the day, it's all about making money for the developers (especially the large impact developers like EA). This game was not selling as well as they would have liked and now, it is even going to cost them money! So yeah, this was an easy decision for them from a financial prospective. I am sad to see this franchise go as it is the only game that EA made that was a yearly purchase for myself over the last decade.

Some of the OS posters have commented on how EA can now unite the Madden team and the NCAA team together to make a solid NFL experience but I highly doubt that it will happen as, once again, it can't be financially justified to keep all of the payroll in the overhead by retaining all of those employees.

Sad sad news.

Hopefully we can squeeze a few good years out of this one. But after that????

If you are expecting a future CFB game with an authentic experience -- with real schools, conferences and stadiums -- and voted anything other than the top choice (Horrible), you are not paying attention.

I've got mixed feelings about it. I'm happy that the college players got the settlement and what not, but flip the script and O'Bannon looks like a douche because this means no more college sports gaming. And I love playing NCAA more than Madden. So it's mixed, but more sad/mad than anything.

This is all bad. Thanks, Ed O'Bannon. What a greedy.....(you'll fill in the blank).

What a shame, everyone loses.

The general consesus amongst gamers has always been that NCAA has become the superior game over Madden. Up in Canada however, sales for NCAA games have been rather abysmal over the years.

As stated before, the only thing we can hope for is that all the energy is put into Madden and finally get this game back on par. Problem is EA has no competition for Football or Hockey so i'm not holding my breath on major overhauls of either franchise.

I was thinking the same thing.

I think it's half option 2 and half option 3. It's not good news, but it could open the door for future games.

I think college football is dead for a while, but NCAA was a decent revenue stream for EA. Without NCAA sales revenue and with EA having to deal with losing 3 lawsuits this year now, they may choose to try to obtain an open license from the NFL this time around.

That's really the only chance for new games tho. A generic game is just too risky...lawsuits over likenesses like the one that just killed NCAA prove that.

For me personally, the world needs more football games, not less. That said, losing the college game is something I can accept for any chance of another pro game. I just like the pro game that much more, and don't like madden at the moment.

# 19 hokupguy @ 09/27/13 06:14 PM
I don't think the whole suit was really worth it . I am glad I did not take part with it when it was offered to me. not sure having my basic info with out my name and or face showing up in the game is with a law suit.

The whole lump some for people fighting is like 300.00 each really. I think the suit only took place against ea for leverage against the NCAA in that suit. Which I also decide not to take part in.

But I think the Ed O'Bannon suit dose make sense since you can tell it is Ed O'Bannon. Kinda like the old early mid 90's nba game with codes for Jordan , barkley and bird to be used in game. That didn't last long because suits took place and that ended.

I hope they can find away to bring the game back. But if I was ea would sue the ncaa because of all this.

And who can say that 2k or even sony wont get sued . sony had some 989 sports college as well back in the day. I am sure that will be coming soon as well. Sony got deeper pockets then EA.

I'm hopeful, but won't hold my breath.

The bigger schools have talked about breaking away from the NCAA, the super conference(s) scenario, basically. IF that were to happen, you'd open the door back up for gaming deals once more, but there are a ton of details to work out first. So it's certainly a wait and see, just don't look at the clock because it won't be that soon if it does happen.
