It's good, better than I expected. Maybe it will convince some fence sitters to buy (count myself in that group), but I don't think it's good enough to change anyones mind entirely.

It's good. The improvements made aren't mind blowing, but they make the game better than NHL 13 or 12 so Ill be buying. I think people that expect mind blowing improvements to yearly games such as sports titles are fooling themselves. The Presentation and AI need overhauls but I wasn't expecting that until the new consoles drop.

It's good for me.

I wasn't expecting them to make a major improvement to the game itself this late into the current console generation. They fixed and improved on things that made NHL 13 a pain to play at times.

I'm looking forward to it.

I thought it was 13 w some minor improvements. The gameplay needs some work w player differences, tweaks to hitting and fighting, definitely more puck physics.. Still see those pinball occurrences ... Rolling, bouncing pucks, etc..I always remember a game Wayne Gretzky hockey by bethseda I think .. The graphics weren't the best but true sim gameplay .. When Gretzky or Lemieux were on the ice u knew it.. Better puck control, accurate shots, passing, a real threat.. That's the way NHL should be.. The presentation needs upgraded like real crowd chants, arena sounds, organ music, actual goal horns and music reverbs, animated scoreboard like NHL 99/2000 had, intermission reports like NBC has, player interviews, 3 star selection, playoff beards..

I voted "Bad" only because it was the only option which included, "I won't be purchasing this game." It is not BAD, it's a solid game of hockey with no bells and whistles.
I agree 100% - and I voted "bad" for exactly the same reason.

The game has plenty bells and whistles. The problem is that things like the Ai and Presentation haven't changed much over the years. They have added plenty of Bells and Whistles though.

i like the game, the demo was kinda choppy to me with the fights happening too often, the commentary seeming off at times, but other than that its a solid game

Again it is what I expected and its a ok hockey experience. But to hear the same commentary team just burns me up did I expect them to change this year no but maybe 2 years ago but oh well I can wait till next year to see what's up with presentation and replacing the commentary team.

There were 3 games I was getting. This was one of them. I had my pre-order in over a month ago.
My dude Martin Brodeur named to the cover...wasn't planning to pass on NHL14.
I had alot of fun with 13.

Now my only problem will be two weeks after this drops, getting enough time to play NCAA, NHL, and FIFA. (I can see me ending up with NBA2k14 if my buddy from work picks it up too as we played alot of 2k13 against each other. Brooklyn vs The ATL, we had epic battles, and mostly me having epic 4th quarter collapses)

anyway, yeah demo...check.
preorder...check
release day...tick tock

If you actually play the sport, NHL 14 is the best replication of real-life. Skating engine and checking physics are top-notch and a good improvement upon 13's system. I won't be buying however because EA is quite lazy with the same damn commentators (which NOBODY wants to hear anymore) and a text-box "myplayer" mode. Plus, I'd rather play real-life puck with 65$ of my money.

More Zamboni please!

If this is your first hockey game in this series or first hockey game in several years, it's most likely worth your money. However it's not worth $60+. As much as people hated the skating and sluggish feeling of 13, I learned to like it. It made the great skaters stand out, especially with revamped rosters. I pop in the demo and everyone skated the same. I floated around with Chara and never "felt" the skater cut into the ice. I couldn't tell if my guy was 6'6" or 5'11". It just seemed like more basketball back and forth, especially with the AI passing. I voted bad, but it;s not a bad game.

To me, it really isn't worth the money. I deleted the tuners from 12 and it's playing a lot better and I'm happy to stay with that. The AI misses passes and while it's still not super aggressive in the neutral zone, it's better. The commentary isn't a big deal to me but a lot of the stuff left over from 07 onward does make it feel stale. I've been playing this version hardcore since 10 (although I've been playing NHL games since 95) and it starts to get that been there done that feeling. I know that's it a hard game to replicate but there's not enough variety to keep me interested. The AI plays the same style and there's not enough of the small things for me to shell out my hard earned money, especially since 60 bucks can get me halfway to season tickets to my local hockey team.

I thought it was a lot of fun. Although I'm not a big nhl fan, I still enjoyed playing it. I will definitely get the game

I like it a lot. But I am really looking forward to some bigger changes for NHL 15, now they have a whole year to start working with the capabilities of the next gen consoles

I'm a huge hockey fan and the EA NHL series owned me in its 08, 09, and 10 iterations, but not much since. I own NHL 13, and there just isn't much to the experience. It's a good game, but it feels like the same experience every time you play. I can't really explain why.

I always like the game at first, but then I play about 30 or so season games and give up on it in lieu of other sports games. Allowing for shorter season lengths (as NBA 2k does) would help a bit too.
