NBA Live 14 News Post

Last week, EA Sports announced Kryie Irving is the coverman. EA also released another trailer of NBA Live 14 -- this one featuring some of Irving dribbling and talking.

In short we really don't know much about the game except EA is proud of the more robust dribbling and the physics which are going into the game.

What do you think at this point? The details on NBA Live are scant, but we are sure to learn much more in the weeks to come. What does NBA Live have to do to get your respect this season?

Yeah, I wouldn't expect Live to blow me out of the water... just be nice solid, decent gameplay with a decent control layout. If it doesn't have intuitive controls or feel organic, I'll be turned off. But I'd like for Live to feel smooth & fluid & transition animations to flow & have some good ball physics & I want to be able to see the potential for growth within the game. For example, I recall when 2K 1st introduced isomotion & the shot stick, I didn't think those were done that well, but I could see that they could tweak those over the years & make those features more dynamic & this would be conducive to more robust gameplay.

First they need to release a game.

I don't expect it to be better than 2k, just has to be a solid game like NBA Live 10 was.

Cometely agree with the lob mob. I have always been a 2k guy but this past year I have become a huge fan of nhl 13 (I never played much of the previous nhl games) and going back to 2k revealed how canned and scripted 2k feels in comparison. I hope that live this year is the start of what nhl was able to build this past generation. It doesnt have to, and I dont expect it to, be the best basketball game ever or even better than 2k but if it can offer something that 2k doesnt and play a solid game of basketball without being a bug or glitchfest then I will give it a try. I know this has been said the past couple years but now more than ever it is put up or shut up time for ea and live. No more false promises, delays, cancellations. They need to release it and see if it sinks or swims. Sink and it may be the end of live forever, swim/doggy paddle/float anything that shows there is still potential in the series and live will be fine.

I think live will shock people. But the simple answer to the question proposed is to be functional and fun. The simplest of things would get in lives way of being the hands down best basketball game available in the past. While I'm not sure it's possible to make a perfect basketball game 2k does an outstanding job on the simple things first and then expanding on that.

Focus on the BASICS.

Gameplay
Association Mode(with DLeague)
Smooth Animations
Sharing System without Glitches
Customization Capabilites

Anything EXTRA is just icing on the cake.

Without getting into too much of what I expect and what I think EA needs to do, I voted just for the game to be solid but like someone else said, Live may very well shock us, especially if player movement is anywhere close to that Kyrie dribbling vid, and then some.

I just want a solid basketball game from them. It'd be hard to beat 2k in my mind but they could certainly make a solid game. Hopefully.

(edit) I thought NBA Live 10 was a pretty solid game. So as long as what they put out is near, the same, or better than live 10 then I'll probably pick it up eventually.

^^ THIS!

I just want solid gameplay and feel. I wasn't a huge fan of the last Live game i played (2010)... felt weird to me.

It needs to be just solid. Not try to do too much or be too gimmicky and fail. Just create a game that looks & feels like NBA basketball. Regain a fan base and build off of that core.

Personally I have high expectations for Live. If you ask me they had 3 offseasons to get caught up. I will not give them a pass when they had the extra time to improve off of NBA Live 10. 2K has my trust, live has to earn mine.

Not expecting some great masterpiece or anything but for me it has to have a deep franchise mode and that's it. 2K is sorely lacking and if Live doesn't have it I probably will give up on basketball games.

1) It has to have great online play complete with lobbies. 2) It has to have a SIM setting. EA games are notorious for being SIM in name only. 3) It has to have solid defensive options. EA games also have a nasty habit of favoring the offense too much. 4) It must have 100% accurate rosters and regular roster updates. This is an area where 2K fails horribly and Live can close the gap where 2K is historically weak.

First, it needs to come out on pc

They have to do good with presentation. Somethin 2k lacks at bigtime. Also be realistic with alley oops and dunks.

+1

I don't plan on playing it until this happens.

If they take what they did in the past and smooth things out, they have the potential to be a competitor once again and I hope that does happen.

Agreed. We need to get some competition going here. It will drive both products to be better & we the comsumers will WIN. Good post.

There is no chance of that happening.

Like most have said, it needs to just be a solid game. The next time I'll be in the market for a basketball game will be next year, either for PS3 or PS4, when the Hornets are back. They should have plenty of time to make a good game by then.
