Sony struck hard at E3 with a vicious counter to Microsoft's DRM policies which left Microsoft in a clear second place position leaving E3 according to most analysts. In response, Microsoft did an unthinkable about-face -- cancelling their intentions to have DRM as part of the Xbox One ecosystem, leaving both consoles in equal footing when it came to how they handled physical media.

Ultimately, both companies will have a DRM powered ecosystem as games become more digital rather than physical goods through the next console generation -- so the move from Microsoft seems a smart one to put both consoles on a more level playing field.

What do you think? What is your decision as of this moment for the next-generation of consoles as they launch this holiday season? You can vote in our poll to your right on the frontpage and above you in the forums.

waiting until next fall and next-gen NHL. GTA5 and SR4 will keep me busy until then.

Keeping my 360 for a little, but I'm buying both at launch.

Keeping my 360 til they stop supporting it, but will definitely purchase the PS4 at launch. No reason not to keep my 360, it has more than paid for itself in entertainment over the years.

I've got 2 preorders of each and planned to keep 2 X1's and 1 PS4 but after X1 changed their policy and are no longer providing the family share plan, I might keep 2 PS4's instead so I can buy games digitally and download on both systems like I do now with the PS3. $60 for COD Ghost for two copies so I can game online with my sons? Yes please!

Do you own a smartphone that has a GPS in it that gives off your exact coordinates at all times ? do you browse the internet where isps monitor your usage and shares that data even though they claim not to ? You can google your address and it shows a picture of your home, so if its taking pics you can be assured its recording. Privacy doesnt exist.

On topic im getting the PS4 at launch as that extra $100 can go towards 2 games or a game and extra controller.

I really wanted to make the switch to Xbox, but MS is making it extremely difficult for that to happen. I'm glad they changed their mind on some serious issues but the price point and need for kinect to always be on is preventing me from switching. As of right now I'm sticking with Sony. I feel as though Xbox will keep their loyal fans but have done little to convince those who may want to switch.

I am also going to hold off a bit. I am still leary about the struggles that sports games had in thier first iterations on the current gen. And it seems the first batch of consoles often have some type of technical issue like overheating. Throw in a price drop after 6 or 12 months, there is incentive for me to wait.

Depends on the quality of games that come out.

I'm waiting until Christmas 2014 to buy my next generation console just so most of the bugs can be fixed. Having said that though I'm buying a PS4. Yes Microsoft changed their awful polices but it is too late. They were on the wrong side of everything for many months while Sony had it correct all along. Thus they deserve my business. Good Bye Microsoft after more than a decade of having my business.

That's a nice perk to have games downloaded on 2 PS3s (or PS4s in the future), but you can only be online with one of the systems at a time, correct?

I preordered my Xbox One at my local GameStop a couple of weeks ago. IMO Xbox Live is signifantly better than the PlayStation Network in terms of usability and integration. I enjoy Kinect especially for the entertainment features and for navigating the menus and apps. The PS4 looks fantastic. Regarding games, we can't go wrong with either console. I may eventually buy both consoles, especially when the next MLB The Show is released. Which ever console/system you purchase, enjoy!

Yes, Microsoft cannot wait to spy on you, sitting in your underware, playing Xbox. Congrats, you've uncovered their MASTER PLANS!
