Madden NFL 13 News Post

It all seemed too good to be true.

Now after this week's bombshells that you cannot edit players in connected careers or play any other games in the mode other than your own, it seems like the Madden team is once again forcing you to play your game their way. To me, this is a huge problem. Others of you? Maybe not so much. But let's hear it: Has the 'closed' nature of Connected Careers turned you away and/or cooled your enthusiasm about Madden NFL 13?

Sound off!

Not at all! I never edit players or play any other games other than my own. I guess if I was younger and had a ton more time to play through leagues and stuff it would be a disappointment but not to me. I just like to jump in and play each weeks Steelers game and mess around a bit.

The fact i can have an online league with me and my friends with a salary cap and FA is what i have been waiting for. I have not purchased Madden in a few years but because of these features, i am buying it over NCAA. For me, it made it a must buy.

It was one of many reasons I'll be passing on Madden.

I usually am an online player for the most part but I've grown tired of the win all at costs ridiculousness that goes on online. The vids I've seen show the some player movement and oline play that is just as exploitable as past years.

So I thought, maybe I could just be an offline guy and this game will be decent. Now I start hearing about all the missing features from that mode and I've been completely turned off to this game.

They've added a few nice additions, but I don't think Madden will be the football game I'm looking for until Madden 14 at the soonest. I barely touched 10-12 once I did pick them up, so I doubt I'll miss 13 either. In the meantime, the ps2 games will be fine for what I need in a football game.

It actually makes sense given the depth of it it almost had to be this way for it to work

I'm turned off, but still still on the fence. If the developers on twitter keep acting like immature kids getting called to the principles office, then I won't stay ob the fence much longer.

Makes offline rather pointless to me honestly. Happy to play NCAA 13 and look to what they will have ( or not have) included in M14

Just an absolute bonehead move to not allow even minor editing.

They really are making you play THEIR way overall.

It honestly doesn't matter how good the gameplay is if I can only be one team and have to leave it up to the CPU to manage their teams, which I am pretty confident will NOT be up to par.

Many say " so what?" but to that I say...
As long as your content with LIMITED features and options then the game will NEVER be what is SHOULD have been by now.

And I know he gets a lot of flak from some, but loomans decision is pretty puzzling as us his " little things" comment. That really turned me off.

If you can't take critical opinion, maybe your in the wrong position

And I will make a few predictions.

XP grinding will be a chore and many will opt for CPU handling it.

CC will be a bug filled affair.

CPU teams will have no clue layer in franchise mode leaving teams in a mess

And generated rookies will have moronic equipment and possess retired numbers and even end up with single digits.

Mark my words.

I smell madden 06 all over again

I made a decision years ago to never buy games that only allowed you to play your team's game in franchise, and the reason is simple--I never get my money's worth out of them. I'm the type of guy who likes to play my team's game, plus a couple others that look interesting in any given week. I do the same thing with baseball and NBA games. If I can't do that it Madden anymore, it becomes a weekend rental, simple as that.

Not only has this game turned me off to Madden but also NCAA as well. I'm not a huge college football fan but I enjoy watching a game or two every Saturday along with playing the major match ups in NCAA Football. However since we can't import rookies there is no reason for me to pick up the game at full price, even with the discount.

Madden '13 might be a Black Friday at best but that's it.

It hasn't turned me away. It has dampened my enthusiasm a little though. I really enjoy being able to get different rosters through roster share on NCAA football and Madden hasn't and won't let you do that. Not being a able to at least change players equipment and number in CC is just crazy. I am still looking forward to the game though. It is getting a little old that in this gen of Maddens they seem to add things that are great, only to take away things that are also great. I still don't get it.

I'll try it, but way turned off. Everything I loved is either gone, or altered in a way that will annoy the hell out of me every time I see it.

This one statement sums up exactly how I feel. No question I've been disappointed in the recent news, but I'll overcome.

Like I said in a recent post, I loved my 2K5 franchise. In it, I couldn't edit players nor could I play other games. But I loved it no less, and it's probably the most I've been immersed in a football game.

Not that we should be moving backwards, but the joy I experienced w/ my 2K5 franchise lets me know that I can enjoy my M13 CCM as well.

As an aside, I was salty when we found out we couldn't play other games in CCM (and to a degree I still am). But I'm buying into keeping things authentic and them really wanting you to be so & so's head coach. Long as I can change coaches every offseason or so to keep my experience fresh, I'll manage to get by.

I think you will be able to just retire and come back .. not sure if you can just choose where you come back though ..

Not at all.

# 137 Lexicon @ 06/13/12 03:34 PM
Turned me off to both NCAA and Madden as far as a purchase from EA. May pick it up months after, used. If these features are put back in next year, I'll be back on board.

No it is a topic called? "Has the closed nature of connected careers turned you off". I responded with NO and gave reasons. I know its hard to comprehend, but my response does not take away YOUR complaints, you have every right to feel the way you do. The same reason, I gave MY reasons.

Some of you and the attitude "IF YOU DON"T FEEL LIKE I DO, YOU ARE WRONG!"

# 139 Phobia @ 06/13/12 03:40 PM
I don't want this to come off the wrong way. I am also not talking about everyone, but some of you guys are sounding very stubborn!

Some of you sound like your mom always allowed you to eat candy with your dinner and then one day she gave you green beans. Then all hell broke loose because it was different than what you were use to.

Statements like this

We have complained for years the game has remained the same. This year they made some big changes, granted some stuff was loss but they really tried to innovate a new feature is how it comes off to me. I don't understand the complaints of OH NO ITS NOT THE SAME GAME!

I am also the same person that has talked mad **** about EA football for years. I know several of the regulars around here will know this, but don't think I am some blind EA supporter. I just appreciate them trying some new things! Not saying I agree with the loss of every feature but I can live with the loss for a year or so for them to be reimplemented if the game plays better from here on forward!

# 140 Nev @ 06/13/12 03:40 PM
Definitely not.

Sure not being able to edit rosters is a blow to the game but I think all the other good/new stuff, more than make up for it.
