NFL Blitz News Post

NFL Blitz is out and one of the main complaints is that the whole experienced is toned down quite a bit from prior editions of the game. So did EA and the NFL make a mistake releasing a 'g-rated' Blitz?

No, it wasn't a mistake.

The game could have been much better though, G vs. R ratings is the least of my concerns as a gameplay critic.

Besides, after playing it a few times, it is for kids anyway. So the G rating is understandable.

its fine as is..

its hilarious that people are upset that you cant leg drop on guys no more or hit after the whistle. oh darn, i cant knock someone over after the play is over, wha!!

they did a solid job in bringing back an old classic etc. would be nice if somethings were a bit different, but for 15 bucks its spot on IMO.

also, remember, it wasnt the Blitz team that took it out, the NFL did not want that in the game. what they say goes, period the end.

sad thing is, this game is more fun than Madden.

This game is tame in comparison to the old NFL Blitz titles. In fact, I think the Blitz: The League series was more fun than this game is. They should have made another NFL Street game instead.

I just can't get into it without the late hits. Sorry, I think there are a lot of great aspects!!! It's a start, but I wanted the older version with new gen technology. They should have gone the street route which is still fun

Huge mistake. Looks extremely boring since it's known for what it is.

I'm a huge fan of the N64 Versions of Blitz, they are the games that set the bar for all Blitz games. If you can't add some extra pain after a play, idk if you're beating the expectations...

My vote was who cares about NFL blitz? Carry on gents.

Not the most anticipated game on my radar, but I was curious to see how the latest version of NFL Blitz would turn out. I was a huge fan of the N64 version back in the day. However, when I read that late hits weren't going to be in the game and the overall aggressiveness was turned down, I lost what little interest I had in picking up the title down the road. I'm sure it's still a fun game in some respects, but to me, the overaggressive nature and late hits is what made Blitz, Blitz.

No offense but I played Blitz when I was a kid and the only notable things missing were the late hits and smack talking.

The late hits is fairly big, but they still have the same commentators who still make fun of the players on a play by play basis.

If one aspect of the game which really isn't anything.. (One hit after the whistle?)

I loved it back then, I've grown up a lot since then but it's still fully worth the full purchase. Even though it would be nice if the rosters were accurate, its something I can live with.

I had to go with

"Who cares about Blitz?"

I knew once Midway wasn't involved it wouldn't be right. Once I knew EA was involved, it wouldn't be Blitz. It would be NFL Tour 2. Which it is.

Might check it out if it goes on sale for half price. Also no demo yet for PS3??? Definitely not paying $15 for it without a demo.

I'd like to judge it for myself to see how much less aggressive it is than the blitz I grew to know and love.

I don't understand the uproar over "no late hits".

No, I'm talking about the gamers' complaints. The NFL has every right to set whatever limits they want on this game.

It just loses its immersion of Blitz. I keep wanting to hit people after the play, because that's what I am used to. I don't understand the uproar of no crew mode in 2K but I trust a good amount of people were used to it and like that feature? I miss late hits because that was part of the charm.

I say WHO CARES!!!! they should work on improving madden instead of giving out the same game every year with a different number on the cover!!!!

Yeah, me neither. The appeal of the original Blitz was late hits? Really? Seems like something an obnoxious kid would do to annoy people - that was the game's calling card?

I liked the Blitz the League games because they were so over the top with the violence, but this game is fun for what it is. I guess any time something changes that gives Internet folks a reason to complain.

The NFL doesn't want their players being hit after the whistle, but they are fine with their players spontaneously bursting into flames?

I remember on N64 in college we'd love the elbow drops after the whistle lol

I wonder if they toned down the tackling in general (haven't played the game)...the NFL's cracking down on using the body/helmet as a weapon yet all Blitz tackles consisted of the defensive guy launching like a javelin at a player...

# 20 jyoung @ 01/09/12 07:49 PM
Yeah the tackling in general is toned down a lot, too. Most of the cool animations have been removed.

They also took out the players trash talking.
