FIFA 12 is outselling PES 2012 25-1, according to Gamerzines.

And when you look at Pro Evolution Soccer versus FIFA, only five years ago in the UK PES was outselling FIFA. On its first weekend like-for-like we've just outsold PES by 25 times.

"That's a sign of the momentum and the fanbase and community behind FIFA, and let's be clear, an absolutely kick-arse game. It's unbelievable.

still prefer PES.

Not a surprise, when PES was outselling FIFA back in the PS2 days it was because PES was a fantastic game and FIFA wasn't anywhere near that level. I bought every version of PES upto 6 even dating back to it's ISS days and didn't own any FIFA's since the early noughties. From there though the quality of PES went down the drain while FIFA's quality took a sharp rise and add in the inclusion of an addicting FUT mode they have lured away a good percentage of those PES fans, including me.

There is no question that PES is now on the way back up but the damage they have done to their fanbase is there for all to see.

Yikes I didn't know it was that bad!

I have both games and love both equally and I implore the progress Konami made in this year iteration but 25 to 1 is a spear to the heart for PES developers.

I remember just a year back reading somewhere that PES always outsells FIFA in France, Italy, Spain or something? I wonder if it that's changed.

Regardless of sales though both games are fantastic!

It's not really a surprise consindering EA is a marketing machine but I still think PES is the better game this year and I haven't felt that way the last couple of years. the only thing I really play on Fifa is UT and the challenges. I can't get into career mode at all. I much prefer Master League and BAL on PES to both CM and BAP in Fifa.

Sounds like PR BS to me. According to vgchartz.com FIFA has only outsold 4-1 in Europe on first week.

I didn't know about that but it doesn't surprise me. Also, in these countries Playstation is a more popular brand than Xbox.

25-1 or 4-1. Either way, its a slaughter. Poor PES

I find FIFA markedly unplayable. The AI is quite poor and the teamsall play the same.

However, I have 8 friends who bought footy games this year. Only 2 of us got PES.

The 6 who got FIFA are much younger (16-25) , play mostly onlineor verse each other, are completely aware ofthe lack of AI, and just don't care.

To them, FIFA plays great and is more fun. I found it interesting that they feel PES is too complicated, too hard to learn.

I never felt that way. Then again, I've always bought PES.

I hope PES doesn't go away. Seabass may want to look at what elements make FIFA so popular. He should retain PES's core gameplay but add those other elements

I don't think PES will go away and I think they know they will never challenge FIFA. Just the fact that they choose to make under the hood changes instead of focusing on licensing and presentation show they know their market and know what they want. I'd rather have PES do what PES does best than PES try and reach out too far and fall.

I haven't played PES this year, but FIFA 12 is very good this year. It's got its issues, but I think it's a great game overall. FIFA is a best selling EA game and on name recognition alone it will sell

I got back into soccer games last year with Fifa and got this year in large part due to Ultimate Team and wanting to embrace that mode from the get go (Got a late start in Fifa 11) ... I say never again.

You'd think outselling the next game 25-1 that you'd be able to fix the Ultimate Team disconnect problems that that has been happening since Sept 27 and still continues to happen after the patch. Oh Ya, the best thing about it : EA has no information or anything regarding the problem or the fix. Never again which I guess is a good thing considering I'd probably have already dropped $50 more on packs if UT wasn't as pathetic as it is connection wise.

And the fouls problem which has STILL not been fixed in FIFA.

The #'s are what they are but if you read deeper you shouldn't be surprised.

The #1 most popular league in the world fully licensed down to it's 4th division. If they ended up being outsold 4-1 worldwide it means they made up a ton in other countries where the leagues are fully licensed. I do think it's smart of Konami to go after the Copa Liberatadores to tap into the South American market but let's get real, FIFA sells because of

  1. Licenses
  2. Marketing
  3. Online game modes
  4. Pick up & play ability

Love FIFA's licensing, graphics and sounds, prefer PES gameplay on slowest setting. Feels much more organic to me.

I wonder what the ratio would be for which game OSers prefer?

# 15 theclownprince @ 10/20/11 11:25 PM
In other news 25 out of 1 people do not know what they are missing.

Would be a nice poll question, but there are always many more people in the FIFA section than the PES one

Interesting

The UEFA CL License runs out after next year. EA had it from 2002-2008. If EA secures it again Konami will be in bad shape.

If EA picks it up again hopefully they don't turn in to its own game and just implement it in to the FIFA series. Personally I enjoy both games, I love the CM in FIFA and the gameplay with sliders is good. And I've enjoyed PES the last few years.

When you think about it, that's such a slimedog move. Instead of incorporating it into Career Mode they sell it as a separate game. When EA does buy this I hope they do the right thing.

Funny thing is I don't think the EA Champions League game sold well.
