you forgot to mention that Lil Wayne has like 0.4% of the vote...

Charles Barkley should just agree to be in this game already. Screw the ego. Whether he accepts it or not he's a role model.

"By the end of the week we should know who's joining Larry, Magic, Michael—and Kareem and Dr. J.—in NBA 2K12's "NBA's Greatest Mode. If fan voting over Facebook is any guide, it'll be a lot of familiar faces.

2K Sports let the dialogue simmer for a month after announcing NBA's Greatest, and asked the community to weigh in with its choices for the 10 basketball superstars who will have their greatest performances recreated. The game's Facebook page put it up to a vote. Voting has closed, and here are the results:

1) *Kobe Bryant (14.9 percent) — (49740 votes)
2) +Shaquille O'Neal (11.0 percent) — (36788 votes)

+ - Appeared in NBA 2K11

As you can see, that leaves eight players in the top 20 who neither appeared on an opposing team in last year's NBA 2K11 via its "Jordan Challenge" or who are not currently active players whose likenesses are covered by the NBA Players Association's group license.

2K Sports definitely listens to its social media feedback. Community manager Ronnie Singh ran a showstopping Twitter operation last year that had NBA 2K11 as a global trending topic every day during the week of its release. I'm not sure that all of the public's wishes can be answered here, though.

Charles Barkley, still one of the dominant NBA personalities a decade after his retirement, and Reggie Miller, whose rivalry with the Knicks carried the league during Michael Jordan's minor league baseball sabbatical, are not signatories to the NBPA's retired players' group licensing program. Bringing them aboard would take more money if not other considerations, and this year's game already has three separate covers for Bird, Jordan and Magic, all three of whom are, indisputably, greater players.

At any rate, we'll know soon enough who's on the list of favored 15. NBA 2K12 is due for release Oct. 4."

What does that mean?

I don't consider Lebron's Cavs tenure as something that's "classic". Not Kobe's early Lakers year's either. It just hasn't gone enough time yet.

sorry but some people are a little bit ret.......Kobe Bryant???Lebron James even Derrick Rose!?are u kidding me,we're talking bout legendary games!!how come some people have the audacy to put their names in the same breath???don't come up with the 81 pts or the 61 pts Game from KB24,it's not even worth comparing, just take a look at their opponents(the raptors??the knicks??)same with lebron..cm'on FB Kids have better judgements....here's the deal breaker..put Kobe or lebron in the 90's and i can garantee u none of them would even average 20 PPG!!!!!!!put Jordan or Bird in the 2000's they average at least 30 PPG!!!!!!!!

# 6 STLRams @ 08/18/11 08:34 AM
For Kobe Bryan Lebron James & Derrick Rose to be on this list,I can only guess that some real younger guys most have voted for them. They are not Legend Players, they should not even be on the list. The only player I would maybe want to see from the 2000's is Allen Iverson & Young Shaq, since he is retired now, every other player should be 90's players and earlier.

*crosses fingers for Iverson*

Vintage A.I. should never be left out of video games. He's the ultimate VG baller.

Are you serious??? only one person in the NBA has scored more points in a single game than Kobe, for you not to consider that a legendary game makes me think you're just stuck in the past man. Kobe bryant and all these other players would have dominated if they played in the 90s just as they do now.

yeah...but here's the thing....its about players thats no longer in the league...

Kobe is still in, Lebron to...you can play them any time with there respective teams...i want to play with the players from the past and relive there moments in vidya game form...i don't understand why this is so hard to grasp...

i wouldn't mind playing as Wilt and try to score 100 points ingame

# 10 ybtherockstar @ 08/18/11 09:24 AM
I wish active players werent included for this vote though. I don't mind Kobe being number one because i would love to play some of the best games he had but I just think this mode should be for retired legends only.

...Kobe? ...other players (LeBron, Derrick)...??? They can "play" if they only played in the 90s. These players are competitive for sure... but I do not think they'd "DOMINATE"...
The NBA in the 90s and years before is just way different from the NBA you know these times. Basketball became "soft" since the rules changed.

Penny & shaq... 95 conference finals against bulls first time Michael didn't make finals.... and also the #45... that's a good match up to relive.... besides Michael said penny hardaway was is favorite player before the injuries.... he also wore a pair of penny shoes the first & only time Michael has done that.... that's respect so 2k you should also pay homage to that...

Good call, they must be writing them in on the ballot. For Derrick Rose to be considered a "legendary" player is just ridiculous. And I'm a Bulls fan. Clearly too many kids under the age of 15 voting in that. They need to spend some time watching ESPN classic or something to learn about other players that impacted basketball other than just Kobe.
I can't wait to play with Olajuwon, one of my all time favs in the low post. And Barkley better agree to the paycheck and get in the game and let a whole generation of fans learn fasthand why is was so special too.

# 15 exposedaking @ 08/18/11 10:34 AM
if shaq makes it hopefully that means penny and young bryant...

# 16 BlackJack_Williams @ 08/18/11 10:45 AM
Definitely looking forward to A.I. ... that's the closest to a 'recent' player I would like to see.

# 17 Maxflier @ 08/18/11 10:58 AM
LMAO, Derrick Rose is 22 years old and people want him as a legend?

# 18 Jakeness23 @ 08/18/11 11:05 AM
The latest year I'd want to see would be Shaq and Kobe's Lakers. Need more LEGENDS on the list. Pete Maravich, Bill Russell, John Havlicek, Jerry West (he is the logo after all), Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, I mean, get LeBron, Derrick Rose, Dirk, and Wade off of this list... none of them are legends yet.

Or any of those playoff series' for that matter.

Sad he won't be in the game, that should be a crime.
I don't even think a video game can recreate how horrible the NY played and were coached in those few second of that game.

I would love to play the '95 finals Magic's vs Rockets
