All sports game should be rated like FIFA.. The best player in the world is Lionel Messi and he is rated 92.

The 99 overall ratings, IMO, have gotten out of control. Leave the 99 overal ratings to MUT.

In most cases no. Especially Antonio Gates.

The guy is really really good. But a 99 should mean a player cannot be any better, and there's no one that has ever BEEN better.

And I just don't think he's that guy.

No because in FIFA there may have been better soccer players at one point. There really some of the best players EVER at their positions in the NFL right now. That being said, their are to many 99 ratings. Antonios gates is not a 99. Brady is a 98 or 97

Even NCAA 12 has this issue.

99 should be reserved for the best of the best of the best. Tom Brady in his prime should have maxed out at a 97 or so with Peyton Manning.

I just dont understand why they jack up player ratings just so the overall can increase.

The overall should be a result of the players ratings and be a snapshot. The problem is most people rely on overall because almost half of the ratings have no "officially" known meaning to them.

I agree. Gates is one of the best TEs in the league, if not best, but the guy is not a 99 OVR. 99 for Brady, 98 for Polamalu, 95-96 for Gates, 97-98 for Revis.

I am aware of that. But you should not compare current players to past players. Ever. As M.J. said, "There will never be another Michael Jordan. Kobe, Lerbron, anyone, will never be another me." (or however that quote when) With that said, you should only compare the players playing currently to other players playing currently. Even if you do this, however, no player is perfect or even near perfect and even the elite players, in any league or sport, have room for improvement. And if any athlete says otherwise, then I personally would not want them on my team.

The overall rating in NCAA and Madden is a bit misleading in my opinion. They average a few key attributes together to get that rating. You can have a few 92s in key slots and be 99 overall. Fifa ratings are move average out of a larger pool so basically the overall ratings end up being lower.

Basically 99 overall doesn't mean you are the best ever the way they average it.

No I dont agree...I always felt that if you give a player a 99 rating then you are saying they are the best ever and cannot improve anymore..but what is EA saying when if Tom Brady has a bad game or two and they drop him to a 98 or so? He needs improvement? Nobody should ever hit 99 ask a athlete and they will say they are always looking to make themselves better, looking for that extra something to give them an edge.

No. It has already been said in this forum but a 99 overall player would have to be the best ever at his position, or at least equal to it. Every 99 overall DE would need to be better or equal to Reggie White.

Also, with the new dynamic player performance, you can have 2 80 overall players and they will play differently. Time to re rate for madden 13 and ncaa 13. Fifa has it right.

No I do not agree with the 99. Especially when rating a player can be so independent to the rater. I for instance think Andre Johnson is the best wide out in the game. I wouldn't give him a 99 though because that rating however accurate it might be is my opinion. Cap at 97-98. Let career progression do the work.

This is just making me feel like they should just get rid of overall altogether. Really what's the point? So some kid can know Tom Brady's better than Manning.

I actually suggested this for NCAA 11 on a different forum. Have a "form" rating.

I agree.. You shouldn't have to handicap someone natural abilities through attributes just because it equals out to a 99. Just because there a 99 doesn't mean there the best that ever played or that going to play perfect every game because they don't. They're just getting rated as the Elite players in todays football. I believe certain players should be a 99 if there attributes end up equaling too it..

For a sports "simulation", 99 overalls are unrealistic, if i could have my voice heard i would deff vote against it...

Or like The Show, and don't have numbers for people to argue over, just like review scores...

I say yes, but I don't think anyone should be a 99 in any game. Even Jordan wasn't a 99 in NBA 2k. Just sayin...

# 18 ccoaxum @ 07/19/11 12:13 AM
u need to play 2k again because jordan was 99 in these years on the bulls teams (1989,1990, 1991, 1995, 1996, 1997) on 2k jordan is rating 99 on all of these years on the bulls teams. but 2k as nothing to do with madden. Jordan is a hall of famer these players are not hall of famers in the nfl, brady shld be on his way but not yet..only players that should be 99 is the created players and the hall of fame players on madden.

Not a fan of the 99 overall honestly. It should be reserved for someone very special. Like a secret player, you know like the old days of arcadey sports games. But in all honesty I think Brady hasn't been a 99 in a couple years. Polamalu's been hurt the last couple seasons, Gates never seems to come through in the clutch (then again I only ever see SD games when they are in the playoffs due to where I live), and Revis is good but no 99. I like what a lot of guys on here have been saying that the highest rated player should be around mid 90's. No one is a perfect player, they all have flaws. To be rated 99 should translate to perfection. I'm just glad no one is 100 overall yet.
