We're thrilled to announce that OS Matchup has arrived!

OS Matchup is your new way to challenge friends and foes in the best console sports games and win awesome prizes like an Apple iPad, laptops, video games, and more!

Here's how it works:
Everyone will start out with 100 OS points, which can be wagered in head to head matches and used to create and enter tournaments. In addition, you'll get 20 points for posting the results of games to your Facebook and Twitter accounts, and 200 bonus points for every 5th game that you play. Once you have won enough points, you can redeem them for prizes!

Since Playing against your friends is the most fun way to compete, log in with your existing operationsports.com account and we'll automatically import all of your OS friends to OS Matchup!

Here's how to get started:
1. Click the OS Matchup banner above or click here
2. Log in with your existing OS account (If you do not already have one, sign up for a new account)
3. Go to "Manage Games" to add your PSN and/or XBOX Live IDs and the games you would like to play
4. Watch the video tutorial on how to set up your 'verification email' so that we automatically get the results of your matches.
5. Scroll through the lists of online opponents and challenge someone!

From there, the rest is simple. If you're having any trouble, help can easily be found in the general chat or by clicking on the help and support tab at the top.

Do you have to refresh the page everytime you type something? That seems like the only way I can see new chats.

How do the financials for this system work? How are you guys able to pay for prizes like that?

I'm just curious where the revenue is coming from.

Also, if you are good at a game and are willing to bet nearly all of your points, you could rack up some nice prizes extremely quickly, like within 6-7 wins. Is there a limit of max bets or wagers you can do in a day or week or something?

I'm guessing J.R. Locke's extra donation helped.

I mean, Steve can probably afford to buy every member of OS a new house at this point, but still...

Heck, just by owning several of these games you could build up a decent amount - because if I understand how the system works, you get 200 points for each game you verify (I got it once for Madden and probably should have gotten 200 more for NHL, if I hadn't been stupid and forgotten to forward stats after my first game). Add to that the 200 you get per 5 games and, well....it seems like it would add up awfully quickly whether you're winning or losing. As long as you aren't losing everything anyway.

Did OS just link me to a scam site lol? Like others, I want to know how this works. I see no revenue stream and I know they can't be doing this out of the goodness of their hearts.

No scam guys. I'll leave it to Ryan (from Playhem, the company responsible for building OS Matchup) to answer your questions once he is online again in the morning.

Ha it's not like the site is asking you for a CC or anything.

It was a joke, but I would like to understand the business model before signing up. I tried this link:

http://playhem.com/

and didn't get much closer to figuring out their motivation. In my experience, it's usually money and I'm not seeing any advertising income so I'm treading lightly.

Hi Guys!

Ok, I have a little time tonight to answer some of your questions, and will get to the rest tomorrow.

Phills,

No, you should not have to do this. Please go to the help and support tab and report the issue you are encountering. When issues are reported in that manner, it gives us all the necessary details to locate and address the problem.

Spencer,

You're right, there currently is no revenue. You can thank the guys at OS for putting these awesome prizes up for grabs.

However, once users get used to using OS Matchup we will open up Cash play -- where instead of playing for points, you're playing for real money. With that, we will take a 9% service fee.

I hope that answers your question.

bcruise,

Thats not totally accurate. You get 200 points after your first match in each game verifies -- a nice little bonus for properly setting your verification email up.

After that, there are a few ways to acquire more points. The main way being wagering them against other users.

Your second opportunity to make more points, is posting your results to facebook and/or twitter after each match you play. You get 20 points for each.

Sorry, you also get 200 points for every 5 matches that you play.
