Madden is most likely losing sales because the hardcore gamers aren't buying. Every year they bring in new features to cater to new fans, this has never been a problem.

Look at forums and blogs before 11 came out. I've never seen so much anti-hype about a game in my life.

Combine that with the success NCAA 11 had, and you've got less Madden sales.

They need to make the game more realistic and appeal to the hardcore fan, because many of them (like me) are the ones who didnt buy the game this year.

I have alot to say about this, but I don't want to get banned because I enjoy spending time here at Operation Sports. The short answer is to just start over.

The engine is old. Even if its been tweaked with this or that, too many of the same issues. Defense has become a joke now with unrealistic offense. Sure you can still stop teams, but it's just time for a change.

Will it happen, nope. That's why Madden 10 is my last version unless something changes. I love NHL 11 and the world cup game has been fun, so I am a fan of some work they do. Problem is with getting exclusive licenses they just don't have to worry about what they do. Like how they took the nascar franchise and made it non exsistent in video games now. Thankfully a new company finally has the license and a shot at it, but it will probably be years before we have another good version.

Agreed. I didn't buy Madden this year as well because of the lack of innovation to franchise mode both online and offline. Went back to NCAA this year after a 3 year hiatus from that series. When I heard Madden 12 was going to be the "year for franchise" I didn't want to waste my time with 11.

Blow me away with presentation and make the on-field game play like NCAA.

# 6 AlphaTrojan @ 11/17/10 06:15 PM
Start over. I wish Madden would follow in Elite's path and just take a year off.

Their giving us stuff that we don't ask for like Gameflow. Listen to us EA! Give us Be a Pro mode and Be a GM mode like the NHL series and FIFA series. Also everything is a money scam with them, you have to pay for madden moments live but they give u 3 free ones, they sell us the same game every year! I WANT NFL 2K12! Don't think thats it EA the list could go on and on and on.

Needs to be completely rebuilt. Release the license so 2k can blow them out and force them to step up to the plate. NBA 2k11 is where it's at in presentation, gameplay and tweaks. EA must take note. So imagine if an NFL 2k12 finally comes to play in the future. 2k5 and 05 were both at their best. I just want to see a strong comeback.

where to start on this one??? Let me say this and we ALL have heard this before. NFL 2K5 was going in the right direction....drop your rights to the players association and let them roll with it. Other than NHL and NCAA, EA just cares about the sales not the product.

Madden is definitely loosing hardcore fans. However, I wouldn't blame the gameplay in 11. In fact, playing all 6 Madden games on this generation in a row, 11 was probably the biggest leap in terms of authenticity and core gameplay (particularly because of locomotion.) However, putting a huge amount of time into Gameflow and OTP was a mistake. They need to step back, don't try to be defensive, and look truthfully at what needs to be done. I feel of all the development teams, maybe because of the success and the name, they are the least likely to really retrospect in the way they need to because what they do is really what they've done for 20 years. However, do NOT pull an NBA Elite and turn an ok game into s*^& because of delusions of grandeur.

Go the route of NHL11 and the EASHL. Fix the gameplay too. I don't know what it is, but Madden is so boring compared to NCAA.

Humm sales are down could it be because Madden 11 was Madden 10 with gameflow added. I didn't buy Madden 11 for that fact. I'm old enough to know that I don't have to buy the game every year now.
I voted for added features because I want a better franchise mode. That is all I have played since it was added to the game years ago. I enjoy Madden 10 but I have to use the pre-loaded drafts because the NCAA drafts are pure crap for 10. It does make it way to easy to blow up the draft even without using one of the draft guides out there. I would love nothing more then a deep franchise mode like you can find in other sports games. After posting this I think they may need to just start over by getting a new staff then build a new game and take a year off like the NFL is going to do next year.

They should have changed direction when the xbox 360 first came out. It didn't help them that they created that teaser video with the eagles and giants in the rain and their game was/is no where near the teaser.

I just want to enjoy a video football game again! It has been a long time.

That being said, they have made slight adjustments to the gameplay but the overall feel of the game hasn't changed. I still feel like it doesn't matter what plays I call. What I liked most about 2k football was if I called a run and the d was playing pass I would get a good chunk of yards and on the other side if I call pass and the d called a play to stop the run it usually lead to a nice gain. I just don't feel the chess match in Madden.

I normally Buy Madden every year but I did not this year for the following reasons:

1. NCAA was awesome. All I need is one rock solid Football game and NCAA delivered.

2. Lack of Features. Madden is headed in the Right direction, the Gameplay is solid but it is the small things that take away. Revamping the Commentary was a step in the right direction but they need to add more lines to make it flow more smoothly. The biggest flaw of Madden is easily the franchise mode and Superstar mode, both are flat out boring.

I thought Madden was under new direction with the new lead developers/designers in Madden 10 and on?

# 18 DirtyJerz32 @ 11/17/10 07:06 PM
I say focus on hardcore sim. Look at NBA 2k11, only bball game in town and look how well it's doing. That's what I want because I love sim, hardcore gameplay.

However; I feel like it should be either one or the other. Either hardcore sim or 11 arcade gameplay

Stop trying to make everyone happy. You can't be both in the gaming world.

-Same Yearly Cry (to No avail) for Presentation, Games are just flat out boring!
-End Credits to Superbowl like Super Tecmo Bowl & NFL2k5
-Insert Loud Crowd & Crowd Chants into Game
-Then insert Situational Loud Crowd & Crowd Chants into Game
-Fix Kick Meter (Make it move faster in pressure situations, but fix the darn lag bug)
-Need Pre-Game, Post-Game analysis
-Need Player Card Icons and Stats to show up as game is in progress
-Good Halftime Show with Game Highlights
-Weekly Highlights in Franchise
-Bring Back Sports Illustrated & Newspapers
-Actually Use ESPN, Fox, CBS, NBC networks
-Get rid of Robo AI
-Get Real Human Physics (Backbreaker?)
-Fix the out route out of bounds (10 years and still running)
-Fix 4th & long conversions
-For the Love of God & all that is humane, bring back defense (Madden 2005)
-Kill all slow, dumb and non-responsive virtual DBs, especially the ones who don't know their assignments on 4th and 50
-Fix quick read errant passes v. pressure rush errant passes
-Put GameFlow in garbage pile
-Make game more sim
-5,000 signature style animations
-About sums it up for me
