Not only did AEW re-ignite my love for pro wrestling, but it felt much more like the Attitude Era I grew up admiring. So, when I heard they were planning to create a wrestling video game developed by Yuke’s (No Mercy) and distributed by THQ Nordic (SmackDown), I was hooked. Then, we started to hear that the game would feel like a modern-day No Mercy, something we’ve all hoped for at one point or another in our lifetime. My obsession reached new heights. Unfortunately, the legal issues between AEW and GCW regarding the “Fight Forever” trademark and a long stretch with minimal movement on the game’s status killed some of that hype. But in recent weeks, with more and more details emerging, I was finally ready for the release of one of my most highly anticipated games in recent memory, AEW Fight Forever.
Golf is one of those sports where the venues have a major impact on the game. The courses can truly make or break your round, including in video games. Even if certain golf courses aren’t the most difficult, they can still dazzle golfers with some fun hole designs. Pinehurst No. 2, one of the most iconic and historic golf courses in the United States, definitely has a nice mix of a challenge and fun.
When you think of golf-filled hot spots, you immediately think of places like St. Andrews, Bandon Dunes, and the Monterey Peninsula that houses Pebble Beach, but you also think about Pinehurst Resort that is home to a whopping nine golf courses, including the legendary No.2.
Despite the mammoth success of NBA 2K, the NBA video game market is lacking, which frankly is a bit unusual due to the continued growth of the league. And 2K isn’t holding exclusive rights to the league so you’d think developers would be making a play. But perhaps there is worry that their game wouldn’t clear the bar that NBA 2K has over the years. I’m no developer or publisher, but honestly, all you can do is just make the best basketball experience possible. I really think you’d see a lot of gamers appreciate a fresh new NBA option.
If not a totally new option, then how about rebooting classics? We are in the age of remakes after all so it’s only fair to see basketball games jump into the mix considering the sport’s rich history of games. We’ve seen some incredible NBA games in the past, whether it was simulation or arcade style there was always a little something for everyone. So, what are a few games from the past that would be awesome to see make a comeback? Here are a few that come to mind.
With the release of EA Sports PGA Tour back in early April, it meant that there was finally serious competition among golf simulation video games. While PGA Tour 2K23 and its predecessors had been dominating the space since all the way back to when the series was known as The Golf Club and 2K wasn’t even involved, the release of the EA game suddenly gave golf fans a choice again. Since both games were released in partnership with the PGA Tour, the two came complete with the kind of credentials to make it clear that realism would be a top priority. The companies involved in EA and 2K left little doubt that this was a heavyweight gaming bout too, the kind of head-to-head battle the companies haven’t had to wage with their other sports games since the days of NBA Live and NFL 2K.
