Madden 2010 News Post

TGR has posted their preview of Madden NFL 10.

Quote:
"If there is one thing that EA Tiburon has always been good about, itís taking back missteps and listening to its fans. Three previous features that have upset some of its audience--Madden IQ, weapons and rewind--have been downplayed in this newest version. Madden IQ has been tweaked to be more effective, while the weapons concept added a few years back has basically been removed. Rewind will still be in the game, but it will no longer be part of the default set up."

The graphics are just the icing on the cake, as the entire game strives to feel more like actual football. Referees have been added to the field, and a live chain gang will measure close plays to add suspense. Thankfully, you won’t ever have to worry about a crazed ref impeding your progress as bumping into them will not slow you down.

i knew the ref was nothing but hologram. just more indication of EA putting things in to shut us up

One issue with Madden has always been coverage routes on defense. Since the majority of players don’t play in the NFL every Sunday, it’s pretty easy for them to make a simple mistake that results in a quick six when playing as a corner or safety. Madden 10 has added in defensive assist, in which a player can hold the A button to allow the computer to control the player and then jump in when the ball is thrown to make a play on it. This should allow less experienced players to see aspects of the game outside of the blitz.

i dont like the sound of this feature. let people learn football but i guess. its a 50/50 cause madden does have little kids to watch out for to. i hope its a option to turn it off

And how many people would complain if the refs got in the way of their Superbowl-winning TD reception?

You could also...not hold the button to enable it?

Guess EA can't win either way.

hey thats what happen. respect the ref...lol

im glad they put ref in no doubt but making them into holograms just seems lazy like they telling us "HERE's YOUR REFS, NOW SHUT UP AND GIVE US YOUR MONEY"

How can you spin this into a negative. I just don't get it. Must there always be something to complain about.

its not a complaint. this is more of a concern. we have ref now in madden 10 but u pass through like HOLOGRAM without slowing down

now what that sound to you?

i say it sound lazy and something they use to shut us up rather than just adding for the sake of simulation

The refs function like they do in APF, you just run them over and they fall on the ground. You do not pass through them like ghosts.

No, this is a complaint. You've been doing it the last 2 weeks! You thought it was another chance to take a shot at EA when there was actually nothing there to get up in arms about .

i would rather them not have them there if players can just go right through them and for surely not slowing down. from the famous words of APEX, MORPH MORPH!!!

I'd much rather them fall than be immovable objects that you can not run through like they are on last gen NCAA.

You can't always go through the refs. The ref will make a move by falling down when you run past them. This is the first time that Madden on next-gen/current-gen has ever had refs.
And MORPHING occurs in nearly EVERY GAME!!!!!!!!!!

i was wondering when u would show up matt. your posts doesnt even make sense. A PLAYER RUN PAST A REF AND FALLS DOWN, why would he fall down.

maybe u meant to say run into him. that aint morphing thats a hologram

It seems like you just ignored this from a person who attended CD:

Totally Disagree with this! I don't wanna be knocked down by the refs! Just having them there is good enough for me.
