NBA 2K24: How Do XP Coins Work?

If you’re relatively new to the world of Park games in NBA 2K24, then there’s no doubt you’ll soon have a desire to level up and earn some rewards. If you’re playing on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, then you have two different ways to unlock rewards through leveling up: Season Levels and with the REP system, which was a popular way to level up in older 2K games that was brought back for 2K24.

The Season rewards offer the most rewards up to 40, while the REP system takes more time and grinding to level up and earn some exclusive rewards — depending on which affiliation you’re representing (ELITE or RISE). Meanwhile, if you’re playing NBA 2K24 on PS4, Xbox One, or PC, you’ll only be presented with the Season Level rewards.

Whatever platform you play the game on, the goal is always the same: level up and grab rewards for your MyPlayer as you play games in The City or the Neighborhood. For Season rewards, you actually can use real money to level up, but it can get expensive really quick so grinding is still the best route.

So how can you earn XP quicker? 2K will regularly have events that will offer a 2x XP boost, but one consistent way to gain XP is through XP Coins. You can snag these by leveling up early on and by completing quests among other things. Sometimes you earn them when you least expect them. And you guessed it, using these will allow you to earn 2x XP for either 30 minutes, 60 minutes, or 120 minutes. You can not only use these coins in MyCareer/Park but in MyTeam as well.

You’ll accumulate them regularly throughout a Season. The catch is that you need to use your XP Coins before a Season is over because otherwise the coins will reset at zero. But these are great ways to help you get the rewards you want faster as you play games. Also, you can double up on these.

Yup, that’s right. If you have two 30-minute XP Coins for example, you can use them both at the same time, which will give you double XP for 60 minutes. This especially comes in handy when playing games in The Rec in The City or Neighborhood. If you play Rec games, you’re already getting extra XP so with the coins it’s much more.

If you win games and have good individual games (especially a good Teammate Grade), then this will give you even more of a boost with the XP coins. So make sure to use them before a Season is over but also be sure to save a couple in case you need that last minute push.

Usually the best rewards begin at level 20 or so with the coveted NBA mascots being a sought after item each Season. How they’re doing it in NBA 2K24 is that each Season offers three random NBA mascot outfits as a reward at either level 20 or 30. Once you reach the level, you randomly receive one of the three mascots with the chance to purchase one of the other two. These are crazy expensive though (usually 100,000 VC) so your best bet is just to enjoy the free mascot you get. But whether it’s the mascots you’re after or anything else, the XP Coins will be your friend.
