Smashpad has the scoop.

Quote:
"We’ve received a tip from an unnamed source that a rumored potential deal may be in the works between EA and GameStop to offer consumers a special deal called the EA Sports Season Pass. Originating from a survey regarding the purchases of sports games, a particular image was sent to us about this deal offering consumers the chance to pay $20 upfront and receive the privilege to save 33% off of many of the upcoming EA Sports games when purchased new, which would almost pay off the price of the Season Pass with just one purchase."

Well considering that I buy

NCAA Football
NCAA Basketball
Nascar
NHL
Madden
Live

This would save me about $100 after the $20 startup.

At that price I would consider buying some EA Sports products that have been a bit too pricey to buy on a whim, such as Tiger, NBA Live, Nascar, and NHL. I'll probably already buy NCAA Football and either Madden or HC '10 (if there was one), so it makes sense.

Why did MIA's "Paper Planes" enter my head when I read this?

Clark Griswold: "It's a one year membership to the 'Jelly of the Month Club'..."

Cousin Eddie: "Clark, that's the gift that keep's on givin' the whole year 'round..."

Clark: "That it is, Edward...that it is indeed."

if true i could see myself buying titles that i don`t normally buy

I've bought Madden and NCAA every year since 2003. This is great news.

Hmmm...this could be a real good investment. I already buy NCAA and NHL every year and will probably buy Madden next year (I think it will be good), so this could save me some money. And if EA's NCAA Bball game gets good, just another good deal.

That's likely the goal and I'm sure their study group came up with a high percentage of similar responses or else they wouldn't start with the 33% off number or relatively low membership fee.

Brilliant marketing plan, if it's true. I would purchase this, and EA games, at Gamestop, whereas normally I'd just go to Best Buy. This drives me to go to Gamestop when I normally wouldn't. Not sure how much it'd cost GS, but might be worth it.

So... lower price = more sales???
Ya think?

# 11 madscientist @ 11/23/08 05:05 PM
I would buy this about every other year, especially if 2K doesn't make anymore of the College Hoops franchise. I always buy Madden and NCAA, and I usually pick up one or two of the other titles throughout the year.

# 12 BunnyHardaway @ 11/24/08 01:25 PM
This sounds great. I normally only pick up NCAA and FIFA, but I'd definitely expand to Madden, Tiger Woods, NASCAR, and NHL if this does down.

I disagree with this idea, this is just another trick by EA to monopolize the sports video game arena. they were successful with madden but most football video game fans still prefer NFL2K5 as well as myself. They choose to buy madden because of roster updates are hard to come by. (roster updates, google "nfl2k5editor and nfl2k5roster") Why can't EA just step it up with their animation and graphics.

I hope this happens for this upcoming sports game season. I'm already chalking up Madden, NCAA and NHL as first day buys.

This is old... I don't know if any new news has come out on this.

would make sense if they went through with it but, most likely wont announce it untill NCAA is about to hit. I would have done this but, w/o NCAA BB I don't know if I'm buying any games except madden.

Everyone who buys an EA sports title should get the pass. The pass plus the first game = $60.

No reason not to...great marketing if this is legit.

Yeah but this is 2 years old. I wonder what happened?

# 19 CS10029 @ 04/09/10 10:47 PM
If this ever does come to existence, I could see it being 29.99 instead. I don't see much profit for EA in the long run at 20 bucks.

That's sounds really good. Maybe i might try NCAA this time....
