Well, here we go. I hope that which ever way it turns out, that games don't suffer but originality and creativity become the winner. The potential.......

if Micheal Pachter is right and ea delays GTA4, Worls War 3 will become of us

he didn't say they would, he said that they'd have more incentive to hold it off for the fall/holiday shopping season, which by itself is a stupid argument. GTA will sell well regardless, and waiting until Christmas for parents to buy it for their kids isn't going to spike the sales higher. Release it now when there is absolutely nothing else out.

All this depends on if EA can even buy Take Two before the game is sent out to stores in a few days anyways.

wow I wrote a long, and thoughtful post that didn't work!!! how frustrating is that!?

nutshell; Micheal Pachter is wrong
gta4 will release under TT because the shareholders have no reason to sell to EA at this time.

I predict TT's shares will be around $27 + after the release, and I belive that this game will shatter ALL previous sales records.

I think Micheal Pachter speaks too much as if he's seen into a crystal ball and uses 'voice of god' arguments. Just like he said there is NO WAY the takeover will not happen before GTA's release...is he getting nervous?

I love my 2k basketball, but thats all they have now! And honestly I would rather see the college hoops team working on March Madness 09, than to just disappear all together.

MLB 2k, NHL 2k, are the only remaining titles.

I don't count Top Spin or Don King crapfighter as a real 2ksports game.

But 2ksports is shrinking away as long as TT holds them. Let EA if they decide to keep Visual Concepts. Do more and give them the budget they need. With Peter Moore being over EA Sports and with him having a great history with Visual Concepts (Dreamcast). I can see him keeping them together and hopefully improving the lineups of sports titles.

There's absolutely no incentive for T2 shareholders to sell right now, with their stock at 25.83 and GTA just around the corner. I don't see this happening until at least a couple of months from now.

Also, I have no idea why people still put any stock (ha) into anything Pachter says.

Pachter is no more reliable than most people on this board- he says outrageous things with no evidence to back them up.

I hope/pray that by the time I come back tonight from playing tennis, T2 is still an independent company and gave the big finger to EA.

You're way too hopeful, they bought everything to keep VC from making games why would they keep another company around that is their competitor?

if they bought them, they would no longer be a competator, they would be a friend

just like any of their current dev studios. John R, CEO of EA has already stated his love for VC

I doubt there is a takeover anyway.

well actually, he's worse. His comments and predictions are read by people who hold stock in the companies he talks about. People here have an interest in the topics here, know about the topics, and keep up on them. Patcher is an analyst that gets paid to predict how companies will perform, so stockholders will read and react. He apparently covers the videogame industry alot, or at least the gaming community pulls his reports out in public more.

This will be interesting if the sellout happens tomorrow or not. Like I have said before, the fact the Take Two stock price has gone so high and it did so almost in a straight line up, indicates that there are a lot of new stockholders in the company with one goal in mind, making money off of the buyout. IMO, I think this probably gets done in the very near future, my gut tells me tomorrow could be a busy news day

Why would you sell your stock tomorro to EA for the same price it is now...these stockholders don't care WHO they sell to, if they think they can get over 27 after gta4's release, that's just what they'll do.

# 15 MMChrisS @ 04/17/08 04:31 PM
You have to weigh your risks, EA could decide that if the stock goes up they will just wait it out and let it fall back. Then they'll offer at the smaller price and then people lose money. You don't know what's going to happen for sure, but just saying the stock is going to rise after GTAIV so they should wait doesn't guarantee them they are going to get bought either. A lot of people got in to do just one thing, sell to EA. I just don't think this will go on much longer...

They compete in the games that they make. It would make no sense to pay for a completely separate team when Madden and Live make so much money for them by themselves.

well I was officially right lol

I just knew that if you really think about it, it makes no sense. Anyone who bought low could have sold on the open market for 26 bucks anyway...the was/is no reason to sell your shares to EA.

Patcher was wrong and I want to see him admit it, and account for his strong statements.
I knew this 'deadline' would just come and go, and so did others...I mean come on, selling your stock a week before gta4 smashes!?

I will add that I'm also happy about this, because we would have lost some quality titles.
