WORLD CYBER GAMES KICKS OFF 2007 USA CHAMPIONSHIP: NATIONAL FINAL AT UNIVERSAL STUDIOS RESORT INORLANDO
The Pool of Over 15,000 US Gamers Has Been Narrowed Down To The Top 188 Players - All Competing This Weekend for 22 Spots on TEAM USA And A Chance to Represent America at Competitive Gaming's Biggest Tournament: The World Cyber Games 2007 Grand Final
(Orlando, September 14, 2007) - The World Cyber Games (WCG) 2007 USA Championship: National Final kicked off today at Universal Orlando Resort, where 188 of the best video game players in the country will battle in 11 high-profile games for a spot on Team USA's 22 player roster and over $100,000 in cash and prizes. Next month TEAM USA will compete against over 700 elite gamers from 75 countries at gaming's premier e-Sports tournament and video game festival, the 2007 World Cyber Games Grand Final: Widely regarded as the "Olympics" of competitive video gaming.
Each gamers' quest to land a spot on their respective World Cyber Games national team started earlier this year with over 1.5 million players in 75 countries competing. As national finals in all countries wrap up this month, the WCG's United States Team will be decided this weekend in Orlando at the UniversalStudiosPark. The 22 players who will make up TEAM USA will travel to host city Seattle October 4th - 7th for the 2007 World Cyber Games Grand Final, taking place at Qwest Field.
Universal Studios' Soundstage #33 will provide the backdrop for the tournament: With massive video screens and live play-by-play, the WCG audience will be fully immersed in the action. Surprise guests, live entertainment and interactive booths will keep them entertained inside and out. The Samsung Mobile Challenge walk-up tournament will award cash, prizes and trips to the Grand Final. Microsoft will celebrate the launch of Project Gotham Racing 4 on Xbox 360 with special sneak preview activities and a massive Saturday night party at the Groove club on Universal's CityWalk. Additional fun and excitement will take place courtesy of CircuitCity, Philips amBX, Samsung Digital Camera, Dust-Off and others, including Spike TV's Game Head who will be shooting the event for an upcoming WCG special.
