Is EA Sports Finally Gaining Ground Online?

5WG has posted an article entitled, Is EA Sports Finally Gaining Ground Online?
"First, one must get past the included (and obligatory) “all video games are bad” quote by media ostrich David Walsh, who obviously knows the deep-seated psychological risks involved with roster updates and animated raindrops. Because, naturally, if someone plays football in a video game, they might do something crazy… like go outside and play football or something. The horror! It’s pathetic that this kind of psychobabble has to be included, by rote, in every mainstream media article about gaming, but I digress - back to EA."

Drew Carey Ponies Up, Challenges Pros To FIFA Matches

Kotaku has the scoop.
"Drew Carey is a big soccer fan. Drew Carey is a big EA SPORTSTM FIFA Soccer 07 on Xbox 360 fan. Drew Carey hates to lose but likes to donate money to good causes. U.S. Soccer loves, well, all those things. So Drew has laid down the challenge and opened his checkbook to the tune of $100,000 large."

Sports Video Games Go Real-Time

The Denver Post has the article.
"The line between real and fantasy sports is about to become a little more blurred. A partnership with ESPN is allowing video-game maker Electronic Arts Inc. to dramatically increase real-time content in sports-themed video games. Starting with this summer's release of the Madden NFL game, players with a high-speed Internet connection can have real-life action directly affect what happens in their video games. Some hard-core gamers are cheering the innovations, which they say bring video games and real-life sports closer than ever. But critics caution about the idea of merging real life with the fantasy world of video games."

EG, I love that picture. Nothing better than LeBron giving Detroit's biggest ***hole a severe facial.

QOTD: I'm hoping it's the Cavs, but with how close this series has been, who knows? If the Cavs can somehow steal tonight's game, I really like their chances in front of a rabid home crowd in Game 6.

Steve, this sounds like the words of a guy who's worried that his team is in trouble.
I just read an amazing stat. The biggest lead the Pistons have had in the entire series is 5 points.

QOTD: I predict the Pistons will win the series (homecourt, playoff veterans) although I'm rooting for the Cavs. I don't think either team has a chance to win the finals though.

Nah, not worried. I still think the Stones win it in 6.

QOTD: I think the Pistons will win in seven, with home court being the decider. The Spurs then win their third title in the last eight years, with a six game series over the Pistons!

It would be their 4th in the last 9 years.

Thanks for that correction...I always forget the one against the Nets, since you know, nobody cares about the Nets (I also had a major life transition that summer, so that's my excuse ).
