Forza Motorsport 2 Demo Review (360)

5WG and Shawn Drotar check in with his review of the Forza Motorsport 2 demo.
"I couldn’t help but be impressed by how much work was required simply to track down and pass even one car; the AI is relentless, and you have to be near-perfect to track down an opponent, let alone hold them off as you work your way through the pack. Moreover, I was surprised to feel so pleased with myself when I made a perfect pass, or shut down a contender in the corner. Forza 2’s beauty is in the little things, and it screams “I’m a simulation!” from the mountaintops."

360Monster Update (360)

360Monster has posted the following:
  • FlatOut Demo Coming Soon
"Those of you who've managed to tear yourself away from a certain other racing demo might be interested to hear that Bugbear will be releasing a demo of FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage by the end of June."
  • Gears of.......Golf???
"Epic Boss Mark Rein has today revealed a new Gears of War spin-off that see's the mighty Marcus Fenix lay down his Lancer and pick up his PING 3 Wood."

Project Gotham 4 and Forza Motorsport 2 Updates (360)

Since there are a ton of Project Gotham 4 and Forza Motorsport 2 updates on the net this morning, I'll just list them here.

EA Summer Games Preview

Yahoo! Games have posted their EA Summer Games preview, which includes NCAA Football 08 and NASCAR 08.
"Madden's little brother is no slouch, routinely trouncing the sales charts and impressing even the snarkiest of critics. This year delivers a slew of new features, including a revamped Dynasty mode, the all-new Campus Legend mode and real-world, real-time weather simulation. Expect it to dominate its class."

NASCAR 08 Screenshots (Multi)

Kotaku has posted some screenshots of NASCAR 08.
"NASCAR and Formula racing are the two types of driving games that have still not quite managed to capture my interest. F-1 for the PS3 did pull me in a bit, but it's still not my type of racer. NASCAR 08 feels the same way. It looks impressive, but I just can't get into driving around in circles for hours on end."

Other Stuff...

Wow, amazing comeback from the Pistons last night huh? Gotta love it! Bulls are cooked. Played a little Forza 2 after the game, pretty amazing. I'm not much of a racer guy, but it might make me get a steering wheel, any recommendations?

Man, I am totally missing playing basketball. I want to play today, but I'm going to listen to the doc and take that extra week, I'll be ballin' by next week. Can't wait, as I can't stand not playing.

Can you NASCAR fans explain to me why the Dale Earnhardt Jr. deal is so big? I'm just not understanding, I suppose.

What's up with you?
  • QOTD: What are you up to this weekend?

I was hoping the Bulls could extend this series, but it looks like they are going down in 4. The Cavs are going to have to take care of business in Jersey. Hopefully, LeBron's got some extra motivation after being snubbed from the 1st team All-NBA.

QOTD: Working in the yard until Cavs v. Nets on Saturday. Visiting Mom and Grandma on Sunday.

I have the wireless wheel Steve. Check Sam's Club if you have one near you. I paid $120 for it, and they gave me Need For Speed Carbon for free, some pack in deal they were having at the time, this was before Xmas though. I love the wheel though, one of the best I've ever used, and it was designed for Forza 2.

QOTD - Family stuff with Mother's Day on Sunday is about it for me this weekend.

Forza 2 is looking sweet, I can't wait for it to come out.

QOTD: Soccer tonight, and then doing stuff with the family on Sunday for Mother's Day.

I'm not a big Nascar fan, but here goes...

E Sr. was by far (not even close) the most popular driver when he was still alive. Naturally when he died, all his fans immediately started rooting for Jr, making him the most popular driver. Sr started DEI and built it up into one of the biggest racing companies and even before he died, there were rumors going around that Teresa (wife) was taking over and lots of people didn't like the way she was operating things. So Sr dies, leaves everything to her in the will with the understanding that it would eventually go to Jr. Now all this happens and basically Jr is out of the picture.

Basically the two biggest names in the sport over the last 20 years and the wife has ruined that lineage and the DEI name. The only comparison I could think of was if Steinbrenner had a hot shot young son that was a great owner/executive/whatever (maybe like Theo Epstein) and the plan was to leave everything to him, Yankee fans loved him and then all of a sudden the wife makes a power play after Steinbrenner dies and takes over, kicking the son to the curb basically.

As you could imagine here in the South, this is THE topic of discussion right now.

Sunday my wife wants to got out to dinner for Mother's Day. And I have to squeeze in some yardwork and repair some drawers. Game wise, I'll be playing some Vegas tonight and GRAW2 Saturday night.

Ahhh, gotcha. Makes sense, it's unfortunate. Thanks.

I officially start my basketball coaching career tonight. Try-outs are tonight for the summer league team I'm coaching for my old High School. I met with my old coach yesterday and we basically discussed everything he wants me to do (i.e. who he wants me to pick, the offense they want me to run). This team is going to be made up of freshman and apparently they weren't very good this last season, so I'm going to have my work cut out for me. Basically, the number 1 thing I'm looking to do is to make sure everyone has fun and we keep everything light. However, with that said....I'm coaching to win. I'm going to focus on defensive intensity and patience on offense. I figure if we can force the other team to take quick shots and if we run our offense until we have a good shot then we are going to have a shot to win any game we play. I just hope I can get a decent ball handler because we are going to get smoked if we can't break a press. I'll try to keep you guys posted on my progress through out the season.

If you guys have any tips for me it would be greatly appreciated....

That's basically what I'm doing this weekend.
