On The Radar: May 2007

5WG has posted their monthly On The Radar article.
"It’s another month of drought for the PS3, but there’s a gem shining in the wasteland: MLB 07. While many plunked down their spare change for a PS3 with visions of Lair and Motorstorm dancing in their heads, I was envisioning how the hands-down best baseball title from the last generation would make the leap to the PS3. The delays have been disappointing, and I’m not leaping out of my chair with excitement over the videos we’ve seen so far … yet the hours I’ve dedicated to the PSP version of the game argue that I’ll be having lots of fun on the diamond come mid-May. The player models in particular seem a bit unimpressive considering what’s possible on the PS3, but unless something goes horribly wrong in translation the gameplay is second to none."

All Pro Football 2K8 Interview

GottGame has posted a video interview with Greg Thomas and Jerry Rice, as they talk about the upcoming All Pro Football 2K8.

Forza Motorsport 2 Impressions (360)

Eurogamer has posted their impressions of Forza Motorsport 2.
"The physics also get a workout if you crash. Bowing to pressure from fans of the original game, Forza 2 will, unlike the original, feature full simulation damage - so if you drive into a wall, the chances are you won't be driving anywhere afterwards. And the game's AI Drivatar system has also been improved, with other drivers exhibiting a more pronounced sense of personality (and the top driver, M. Rossi, regularly frustrating testers with his check-braking, bumping, blocking and just general skulduggery)."

Hot Shots Tennis Preview (PS2)

PSX Extreme has posted their preview of Hot Shots Tennis.
"Clap Hanz, the same developer, is at the reigns for this exclusive PS2 game, and it’ll boast the same vibrant colors and light-hearted atmosphere fans of the golf games are so familiar with. But the real question is, how will they portray the sport of tennis? The golf games are amazingly realistic beneath that cartoon-y exterior; players generally have to consider everything a real golfer would have to consider: ball angle, lie, wind, green and fairway slope, where on the ball to strike (top for top-spin and low for backspin), appropriate power, height, etc. So will they take the same approach with tennis? In other words, if we can expect the same big-headed, big-eyed players, zany caddies, and colorful courses, will there also be a truly accurate tennis simulation beneath the surface?"

Tiger Woods 08 Screenshots (PS3, 360)

Playsyde and Xboxyde have both posted some Tiger Woods 08 screenshots.
"EA Sports released these first images from the Xbox 360 version of Tiger Woods 08. Quite a few graphical upgrades since the last episode, and it certainly was necessary."

Other Stuff...

It's time to register my daughter for Elementary school! We are thinking about private school, but it might be a little out of the budget. So we are reading up on the local public schools, to try and find the best one for her.

Now that God of War II has been completed, I'm looking to finish off something else, anyone have any good ideas?

What's up with you?

QOTD:

Right now, it's the Wii. It's a system the wife and I both really enjoy, and any gaming I can do with the Mrs. is a bonus.

QOTD: It's the PC right now (except when I'm doing a review on a specific console)

By the way, where's the update from the Doc, Steve???? Are you fixed?

QOTD: It's close between ol' High Heat 2004 on my laptop (nothing better than playing a game while watching real baseball on TV) and NBA 2k7 on the ol' Xbox, though I'm lucky to get one game a night in on either. I don't know how you guys with kids do it.

QOTD: Xbox 360 for me. Nintendo DS is the most popular right now with my kids.

Xbox 360 for me... PS2 for the roomie.

QOTD: Right now it's an even toss-up between the 360 and the PS3(operating as a PS2 ). I put in a lot of time with MLB and the Clancy shooters on a weekly basis, but I'm in the midst of an RPG on PS2/3, so that equalizes the time.

The Wii might gain some market share though, when I can finally tackle 'Super Paper Mario', but since it's on my off TV, which is in repair limbo, it might be a while.

EDIT: Hey Steve, some game ideas on PS2 (not sure if you are a fan of RPG's so I left them out): the MGS series, Bully, Okami, Shadow of the Colussus, and the Sly Cooper series should give you some quality gaming over 10-20 hours.

I can believe it. I'm at the final level... just have to return to Flipside to get some Shroom Shakes...

Hey GIGGAS, send me some Mii's! I added your console when I was pouring through the Friend Code thread (a shame you can't approve or deny friends like XBL).

As for SPM, I'll get to it. My liked the first couple levels, but I just haven't had the time...and as I said the TV's been in the shop and now we are about to head for vacation as well.

TOO MANY GAMES!

Qotd - Mainly the 360, especially getting back into the "Rainbow/GRAW 2" mode, & also some FiFa 07 now.... the ps2 for "The Show", as right now I keep updating the rosters as they go along...

course, with a BIIIIIIIG purchase coming later this month, which will end my "single life" now, it may be dulling down....

Yeah, I thought about Shadow of the Colussus today, as I picked up ICO! I totally forgot about this game when I had it a long time ago. I wanted to get into it, just never had the time. Now is the time!

QOTD: The Wii probably gets the most play in my house between Super Paper Mario and SSX Blur. Although my PS2 still gets worked out with MLB The Show daily and the Guitar Heroes at least twice a week.

# 18 MachoMyers @ 05/03/07 06:54 PM
1). PS2
2). PC
3). 360

Between Guitar Hero 1/2, MLB The Show, Winning Eleven on my PS2 and then Football Manager 2007 and Civ IV on my PC I don't really have any time for my 360, haven't bought a 360 game since Vegas came out.

QOTD- Xbox 360
