MLB 2K7 Looking Good… and Near-Sighted

5WG has posted an article entitled, MLB 2K7 Looking Good… and Near-Sighted.
"Pitchers and catchers report in mere weeks, and so 2K Sports’ PR department is starting it’s long, slow reveal of MLB 2K7, an expected re-invention of the stagnant and often-buggy series, led by former MVP Baseball frontman Ben Brinkman, who left Electronic Arts to head up this third-party exclusive MLB title.

Since all we’re really getting is a series of screenshots at this point, I think it’s fair to evaluate what we’ve seen. First and foremost, the player models and stadiums look to be lovingly rendered to exacting detail. How they animate, and at what frame rate, will be of paramount concern, but in still life, they look fabulous.
However, it’s not all roses.

I’m looking forward to seeing this game in action myself, and I’m more concerned (infinitely more concerned) with gameplay, but I think the depth of field is way, way off."

MotorStorm Screenshots (PS3)

PSX Extreme has posted some screenshots of MotorStorm.

Eurogamer Update (PS3, PSP)

Eurogamer has posted the following:
  • Gran Turismo HD Concept First Impressions (PS3)
"Whether drifting ends up being a substantial part of the next "proper" Gran Turismo game is unknown, but on this evidence it wouldn't be a bad thing. More rugged and difficult to perfect than the relatively easy equivalent in Project Gotham Racing - the only other series that does the drift-points thing with this kind of intent - it carves itself a niche. Probably using a special sort of tuned-up knife."
  • TOCA 3 Challenge Dated (PSP)
"TOCA Race Driver 3 Challenge is due out on PSP from 16th February, Codemasters said this morning, while simultaneously waving screenshots in our face and generally behaving inappropriately considering its state of undress."

We Know the Winner of Super Bowl XLI

Theeeps have posted a movie clip from Super Tecmo Bowl, which predicts the outcome of Super Bowl XLI.
"The fact that a few of the writers here work for NFL Films put us in a unique position to present this video. It turns out, much like the moon landing, the Super Bowl is fake. It’s decided well before hand, scripted out, and then shot. Think of it like wrestling, except they don’t grab each other other in the crotch, they pat one another on the ***."

SportsGamer Update

SportsGamer has posted the following:
  • 2K Football Returns for the ’08 Season
"Even though Madden will still be the only football title that is officially licensed by the NFL, All-Pro Football 2K8 will surely make a major impact in football video gaming. A quick glance around our All-Pro 2K8 forums and you’ll notice the response has been positive. The problem 2K Sports will be facing, is the same problem other companies who make non-NFL licensed games face; it lacks the NFL feel. We all know realism is very important, and it just doesn’t look right playing with the Miami Sharks as opposed to the Miami Dolphins. But what if the game is customizable enough where we could re-name teams and players? Gamespot posted an interview with 2K’s Greg Thomas yesterday and he discussed the level of customization in the game."
  • Madden NFL 2007 - Creating New Running Back Routes
"Earlier this season, SportsGamer broke down just how effective it can be to smart route your running backs into delayed routes (blue routes). In this example, we're going to take that philosophy a step further by again using the smart route feature to actually change some of your running back routes on the field. Almost every running back route will react in a different way when these steps are used, so be sure to check out all of your favorite plays after reading this to see just how many different options are available to you."

GameTrailers Movie Clips (PC, PS3, 360)

GameTrailers have posted movie clips from the following games:
  • Mountain Bike Challenge (PC)
"Get your bike into gear and pedal away in your best attempt to pull off the best time."
  • Ski Challenge (PC)
"Strap on some skis and challenge your online opponents with a day on the slopes."
  • Starbet Racing (PC)
"Jump behind the wheel of this free online racer and challenge anyone across the globe."
  • NBA Street Homecourt (PS3, 360)
"Play the mode that challenges you to find out what kind of player you really are."

Virtua Tennis 3 Preview (360)

Xbox 360 The Official Magazine has posted their preview of Virtua Tennis 3.
"Sega has not changed anything. It has not tinkered. It has not added a boost gauge or respect-o-meter, nor does pressing X and Y and RB at the same time do a special move resulting in a wisecracking cutscene and kerb-stomp of the loser’s head. There’s nothing so crude. This is pure tennis. Pure like it’s always been. Pure as in you only really need to press A to return the ball. There is nothing to worry about or learn, just the world’s finest tennis experience remade for Xbox 360."

FlatOut Ultimate Carnage Announced w/ Screenshots (360)

Voodoo Extreme has the scoop.
"Updated version of previous two titles set to be released this coming June, exclusively on the 360."

Other Stuff...

The first game of my basketball season starts tonight. Unfortunately, I somehow did something to my ankle yesterday. I'm not sure what it is, but everytime I push off my right foot, I get a sharp pain. Figures it would happen NOW, of all times. Hopefully it goes away, but it sure isn't acting like it is going to. We are going to be short on players today to, so if it doesn't get any better I might be looking like the worst basketball player ever when running up and down the court.

The Pistons took care of the Nets last night in impressive fashion. VC couldn't get it going and the Nets looked like garbage. Webber had some sick passes last night! Good do see the Pistons win another road game, they remain the only team in the east above .500 on the road.

We are looking at placing Nat in a private school, as Kindergarten is just around the corner for her. We visited a very nice school yesterday and she came along with us. She seemed to really enjoy the place and everyone seemed to be very nice. We are looking at a few other ones before we make a decision.

Enough about me, what's up with you?

Haven't really read up on Crackdown, but it looks like GTA and/or Saint's Row. Is that what the game is like?

Try the demo Mr. I haven't been online in 14 days....

It's like GTA, but you're a good guy with super powers...um, yeah, when I describe it that way, it's not a very fun sounding game is it? LOL

Its a sandbox game along those lines. Your a good guy fighting gangs. The twist is your character can get superpower type abilities, throw cars, climb buildings and jump rooftops.

The Vista flowchart was funny. I went through it and I don't have to upgrade until I win the lottery. Sorry about the ankle.

QOTD: GRAW2 (live), All-Pro Football 2K8, Forza2

QOTD: Crackdown and UEFA Champions League 06/07.

My parents left for the Super Bowl earlier, so now I have the house to myself.

Yeah man, I haven't played any games in 2 weeks, it's just been INSANE lately.

Hmm...yeah, sounds like a game I won't be getting, but I'm sure it will be a game I get, after hearing all the good things about it when it arrives. Then I'll play it for an hour and shelve it.

Good luck w/ the game tonight Steve... I played last night in our league, and scored 32 points and dished out 8 assists. Did something to my shoulder about 12 minutes to go in the second half, so I went to the bench. It hurts like crazy this morning.

Good lord AI! Err...The Rock...err....

I have something called a sublox shoulder. It pops out every now and then when playing ball. I pop it back in on my own, but it hurts for the next week. Hope it heals quickly.

That's a hilarious image.

Will jumping up and swatting a 10 year old's shot, and then taunting him on his way back up the court.

Trash talking WTF.

"Don't bring that 4' 3" havin' layup in my house!"

"It's gotta be the shoes!"

# 20 WTF @ 02/01/07 10:19 AM
:y4: I did the finger waive last night after a block as a matter of fact...

And it's not the Pee Wee League, it was against the Senior Center. lol.

But yeah, I threw a pass from the top of the key last night, hit a cutter right under the basket, and my shoulder popped out and popped back in immediately. Man does it ever hurt. I have nearly a week off though, until our next game, so I should be alright.
