NBA Live Circles the Drain, Skips PS3

5w-g has posted an article entitled, NBA Live Circles the Drain, Skips PS3.
"Once one of the crown jewels of EA Sportsí empire, NBA Liveís brand of arcade basketball has been a staple of console gaming since what was arguably its heyday on the Sega Genesis in mid-90s.

Since then, however, the quality of the title has steadily declined, reaching its nadir this fall with the abysmal NBA Live 07, a nearly unplayable next-gen mess whose lack of quality basketball was even further exposed by itís competition, the superlative NBA 2K7 by 2K Sports."

NBA Live 07 PS3 Canned

Eurogamer has the scoop.
"Electronic Arts has decided not to pursue its plan to port NBA Live 07 to PlayStation 3, deciding instead to focus on the upcoming next-generation version of NBA Street.

That's according to EA Canada PR Manager David Tinson, who told IGN that the developer is "concentrating [its] efforts on creating a spectacular NBA Street: Homecourt". That title is due out on PS3 and 360 "early next year", he added."

A Cold PS3 Basketball Season Without NBA Live 07

Playstation Team has the article.
"Initially announced at E3 2006 back in May, the PS3 edition of NBA Live 07 showed how much of the unit's technology can be utilized by the game. From the focusing on "Procedural Awareness Technology", the video of the game as a work in progress seemed to be highly promising. That is, until EA Sports decided to just shelf it altogether. As to the real reason why they opted to discontinue the PS3 project of NBA Live 07, we can only guess. But here's hoping that the next season will absolutely be for real."
