Microsoft's Plans For Handheld Game Player And "iPod Killer"

The Mercury News is reporting that Microsoft does indeed have plans to deliver a handheld game player.
"By anchoring its entertainment device as a handheld game player, Microsoft is starting from its position of strength in the entertainment business that it hopes Apple cannot match, even with its iPod. The game press has dubbed it an "iPod killer,'' but its functions would likely more closely resemble Sony's PlayStation Portable multimedia gaming device."

Microsoft has posted the XNA overview presentation.
"XNA is a set of technologies Microsoft is building to help tame the costs and complexity associated with game development. This introductory session will provide an overview of XNA and describe how game studios will be able to use it to help manage their content creation and content builds."
