Computer and Video Games News Update (PS2, PS3, 360)

Computer and Video Games has posted the following news updates:
  • Pro Evo Management Kicks Off (PS2)
"Of course, there's all the usual management malarkey to deal with, like developing your squad, buying and selling players, setting training regimes, hiring coaches and setting formations as you take a team from any of the top six Euro leagues to league and cup glory."
  • Bizarre Experimenting on Gotham 4 (360)
"Bizarre's Gareth Williams also chipped in during discussion on how the studio's experience with developing for Xbox 360 would impact any future Gotham games. "I think we'll be able to push the graphics a lot harder. When we were working on Gotham 3 we kept finding ways to do things better once they'd already been done, but the producer was telling us that we couldn't re-write the whole code two weeks before launch!," he revealed."
  • Bandai President Says PS3 Spring Launch Impossible (PS3)
" The PS3 launch is rapidly turning into the elephant in Sony's room. While the Japanese giant is still maintaining a spring launch for PS3 if feasible, most hardened industry watchers believe Sony will struggle to get its next-gen console on the shelves in that timeframe, unless it somehow manages to conjure up some new definition of spring."

Top Spin 2 Preview (360)

GameSpy has posted a 2 page preview of Top Spin 2.
"The gameplay offers up a solid game of tennis, with four different basic shots available to you from the get-go. You have your standard safe shot, using the A button, which will always land safely inbounds, but doesn't have any added umph."

IGN Update (PS2, 360, Sports)

IGN has posted the following:
  • Burnout Revenge Interview (360)
IGN: "What kinds of cars did you mike for Burnout Revenge?"
Nick Laviers: "We recorded the sounds of Carrera GTs, the Lamborghini Gallardo, which is a fantastic sounding car; and the new Mustang, which has a rich harmonic spectrum, a kind of gravelly interesting sound. We haven't done as much car recording as we'd like to, but we're expecting to do a lot more car recording in the future. We do share car recordings with the Need for Speed team as well. So we can plug elements of Need for Speed car sounds into our game if we need to. Obviously, the requirements for our game are slightly different. They're actually trying to get car sounds that are very close to the actual vehicle. We're trying to get sounds that are as fast and sheer and exaggerated as possible."
  • Main Event Interview (Sports)
IGN Sports: " Once the And 1 tapes started getting passed around, how fast did it take for people to start recognizing you?"
Main Event: "The love was always there. Me, Shane, and Half-Man were always doing games before the whole And 1 thing, so we were already getting love from the inner cities. We just took a step back and looked at what was being created because street ball is around everywhere. It's not something that we just created for the tour, we just wanted to see it get promoted at a high level. We ended up going from two Excursion vans to now we have five or six rap busses and two rigs. It's incredible how big it has become."
  • Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast Screenshots (PS2)
  • Wrestlemania 22 (Sports)
"here's no other event that has born witness to as many big time thrills for fans of the squared circle than the WrestleMania series. Who can forget the moment Hulk Hogan body slammed Andre the Giant at the third annual installment or when Mike Tyson knocked out Shawn Michaels at the 24th?"
  • Test Drive Unlimited Screenshots (360)
  • Play of the Day: The WBC (Sports)
"Derek Jeter is on the cover of MLB 2K6 and the producers went to great lengths to make sure they captured the Yankee superstar's every move...even as he plays for the USA."

"Claiming to have an informant from inside the company, Chinese website Mydrivers (translated by The Inquirer) has reported that said production will begin in June or July of this year--hence, no spring launch."
  • PlayStation 3 Spring Launch is "Impossible"
"But if Namco Bandai, a company that helped boost the PlayStation brand in the past, is still in the dark, then it's safe to assume (as recent certification setbacks have implied) that the PS3 will not launch in Japan within the next few months."
