News Post

I received a newer MLB 2K6 beta yesterday and it definitely plays a lot better in the field. I didn't check the stats after a season, but I'll do that tonight. There were definitely some odd stats and league leaders with the previous build. I'm getting more used to the "Hit Stick" now. You definitely don't have to use a power swing to go yard. I'm still trying to get the timing down on the pitching though, I think it makes the game better now that the pitching is more difficult. I like to paint corners and I've walked my fair share of batters. The AI has walked me a few times, but I'm sure the slider guys will have a fun time adjusting them. I've had some low scoring games and a few high scoring ones. The AI baserunning is a little hit or miss. Sometimes it will be aggressive and get the double, other times a sure double will end up being a single. If I have some time, I'll answer a few questions about the game in this thread.

I'm signing Dan up to play some AAU basketball. Tryouts are this Sunday, so hopefully the coaches will notice him and he'll get a spot.

I think I'm going to post the daily "What's Up?" as the first news item of the morning from now on, then get to the news. Just a heads up.

Question of the Day: What was the last movie you saw in the movie theater?

In other news...Happy Birthday to the following OS'ers!
BigKoo (35), ChiTownKid (33), SSilentstorm7 (18)

Enough about me, what's up with you?

What's up!!!

Not much going on here... busy.

Last movie I saw in the theater was King Kong. I rarely go to the theaters, they are out on DVD months later and I have a nice home theater, so I just wait for that.

College Hoops today!! WOO HOO!

What's up fellas...

Nothing whatsoever going on here. I'm just sitting here, waiting on "The Call" from the department head. I had my interview yesterday, and everything went extremely well. One of my friends that works there already, said he spoke with the fella, and he told him that out of all the candidates, my interview went the best, and that I would fit in really well with all of the current staff. He said he liked my personality, and I was well qualified for the position, so keep your fingers crossed. This is something that I need badly.

Let's see, what else. Oh yeah, after my interview yesterday, I was driving back home, and no more than half a mile from where I interviewed, I seen a dog walking next to the road, that looked like my dog that ran away around 2 months ago... I pull over, and yell out his name, and he came running to me. So as fate would have it, I found my dog, and hopefully will get this job. So yesterday went pretty good. I hope today is just as good.

The last movie I went to see, as badly as I hate to say it, was date movie. That was by far the worst movie that I've seen in quite some time. Definately not worth the price of admission.

That's about it from me, other than waiting on GRAW, this day will be the slowest ever.

That's really good news on both fronts. Was your dog in decent shape when you found him? 2 months outside trying to scavage for food, I'd think that would really take a toll on a dog's weight.

Not much going on here. Been a slow morning. I can tell it's going to be one of those days where the clock doesn't seem to move. Everytime I look down to see the time, it's only advanced a few minutes.

QOTD - I can't recall. The lady and I like to go out to the theater a lot, but there hasn't been anything good out lately. I have a nice home theater setup, but I like to go out occassionally. There's a really nice theater a little south of me with some nice leather couches and stadium seating. You pay $2 extra per ticket for those seats, but it also seperates you from the kiddies (unless they buy tickets in that section as well, but they usually don't).

The last movie I rented was "Crash". To be honest, I thought it was just OK. I also saw "The Interpretor" a week or so ago, but didn't think it was good.

QOTD: Pink Panther, may go see 16 Blocks next

Not much going on here. I'll be watching the WBC today. Hopefully people actually show up to watch the games.

I'm nearing a major milestone on OS. I can't believe i'm so close to 20,000 posts. A part of me is happy and another part wonders how I could've accumulated so many posts. I guess this is a testament to how great the community is here.

Steve i'm glad your newer build of 2k6 seems to play a lot better then the older build. It makes me have a little more hope for the game.

QOTD: SAW 2 was the last movie I saw in the theater, I don't have a girlfriend and I'd rather go to the bar then a movie. My friends don't usualy go to the movies either so it fits pretty well. I think me and my mom are going to see King Kong on Wednesday though, her and my dad go to a bunch of movies but I don't he wanted to see King Kong and I'll see anything Jack Black is in (although I waited for Envy to be on HBO). He's great in BioDome.

QOTD: I havent been to a movie since the second lord of the rings. After sitting there cramped in those little seats(im tall), I said to myself Im not going to spend 8 bucks to sit uncomfotable for 3 1/2 hours. So, I went ahead and made myself a kicking home theater, and personaly, it is much much much better than sitting in the theater (i have sound dampening, in the wall surround sound, 65" hdtv and theater seating). I think im going to take my son to his first ever movie though soon when that new movie Cars comes out.

Steve, about your son and AAU, is it a traveling team? I was on an Indiana AAU team for several years, and it was really tough. My practices were over an hour away, and games took us all over the state(s). My mother would have to drive me and, being a single working mom, it was extrmeley tough on her. Just to let you know, understand what you are getting yourself into, especially if time is tight. Im not sure how AAU is there, but in Indiana it isnt centralized, and kids are recruited from all over the state to play on certain teams.

QOTD: Night Watch, check it out if you can, really cool Russian movie about the forces of good,or not so good, vs. evil. The production value is on par with hollywood blockbusters.

QOTD: Dave Chappell's Block Party, which I liked. Not the greatest movie, but I liked it.

QOTD: Curious George. Took my 4 year old son to his first movie a few weeks back. He did exceptionally well, and it was a pretty decent movie to boot. Nice soundtrack from Jack Johnson.

Speaking of movies, I finally watched Walk the Line last night. What a great movie. My choice for movie of the year, although Crash was well acted as well. To think Phoenix and Witherspoon actually really sang the songs in the movies is nothing short of phenomenal. They both were tremendous. I became an instant Johnny Cash fan.

Question of the Day: Saw 2 (I think). Which, was a solid movie, but not as good as the first.

Well, I got woke up early to the phone ringing. It wasn't mine, it was my girl's, and it wasn't good news. It was her dad calling to tell her that her grandfather had passed away, whom she was very close to. So that was a rude awakening for me, and even more for her. I will probably spend as much of the day as I can with her, but it just made me realize that death sucks. Ya know? Like, its a natural part of life and what not, but it just sucks. Its hard to deal with, it leads to a big ordeal, and makes you think of regret.

Not too much going on here, just going to pick up College Hoops at some point today.

I have a tennis match against Cerritos, should be a fun time.

QOTD: Ocean's Twelve.

I very rarely go to the movie theaters. :y4:

We don't call them anything, we just beat their asses.

We've played them the last two years (so every year since I've played) and we always kill them.

QOTD: Fun With Dick And Jane

Had a ****ty day. Everything went terribly wrong. To top it off, a person I've been doing a project with (read: he hasn't done a damn thing) and he didn't show up to our taping session today. It's a video and I'm going to get my teacher to give him an F. It's unacceptable. I've done EVERYTHING!

I'm so pissed off. So pissed.

Argh...

It was a good date movie.

Probably decent if you're alone or with friends. Got some good laughs in there.
