Happy Valentine's Day! Any of you have any plans for tonight or is it just a roses and chocolate type of thing?

What a crazy run NOVA went on against UCONN last night. It was a fun game to watch, of course I know a few guys here that didn't enjoy it.

I didn't have time to play anymore 24/7 last night, but

Question of the Day: If you could change one rule in any sport, what would it be and why?

In other news...
Happy Birthday to the following OS'ers!
ODogg (36), AJ21476 (30), johnny malibu (27)

Enough about me, what's up with you?

QOTD: I would change the knee being down rule in college football. How many times have you seen a screen play where the guy slips because of the field conditions and be called down, when he easily could have got up and gone another 5-15 yards because no one is around. Im not a big fan of rules that change from one level to the next. I also dont like the one foot in bounds in college football.

The Nova game was great. Got to see it after getting home from a date with my wife (first one we have had in a long time since my son was born). Nova looks to be a real contender come next month. Who will be first now? I guess it will have to be duke.

VD Day... hmm

We got Fox Sports HD last night, they are borrowing the HD camera's from Fox Sports Pittsburgh until FSN Ohio has their cameras up and running. The Cavs game last night, stunning. Possibly the best HD picture I've ever seen. Also helped that the Cavs worked over the Spurs and LeBron went off for 44. Bad news is that Hughes is out the year now..

I hate Valentine's Day, it's a stupid made up holiday so card companies can make money.

QOTD: To make golf more exciting, they should let the golfers and fans scream or whatever, to mess up the concentration. How entertaining would it be to see Tiger scream "CHOKE" to Phil as he putts from 6 feet? Maybe let them be allowed to do this once per 9 holes.

Yup, very dumb rule in college football. I'd also like to see the knee on the ground to kill the clock in the NFL removed. Call a play and run it, let it be exciting, no giving up, let the defense have a shot at least.

Didn't get to watch the NOVA game (other than SportsCenter highlights). Hope they make it an "instant classic" or something and replay it. Looked like a good game.

QOTD: There's probably 2. On the college football level, could we bring the hash marks inward for the kickers. Why is it harder to kick a figgie in college then in the pros? Also, the "5 yard bump" zone for DB's in the pro game has got to go. Way too many touch fouls.

The goalposts in college are further apart than the pros.

I didn't get to watch most of the UConn/Nova game last night but from everything I read and heard it was a great game. Should be a great rematch in Storrs in two weeks.

QOTD: You can't call a timeout while inbounding the ball in basketball. The 5-second rule rewards great defense, and TO's shouldn't be a cheap way to avoid them.

QOTD: I would change all of the overtime rules in the NFL. It sucks knowing that there's a good chance the game is going to be won on the coin toss.

Well, this was shaping up to possibly be a good Valentines Day and I was actually kinda looking forward to it. Unfortunately, my Aunt died this morning at 5:30 AM. She had been battling brain cancer since May and outlived the doctor's expectations by a month or two. She was definately the closest relative to me & my one sister and was my mom's best friend (as well as her sister), so this is going to be a crappy week.

Sorry to hear that BJF....

True, but when it's a 15-20 yard field goal, you're kicking at a pretty good angle to the goalposts.

Re QOTD: I'd have to say I'd change the pass interference rules in the NFL. I'm not sure how, but it's just too big a penalty to be assessed on some pretty shaky judgement calls.

Re Whats up?: Going back to work after being out of the office for a week sucks. The guy that works for me is just a complete moron. He doesn't actually know how to fix problems with computers, just finds workarounds until I can fix the problem. The worst thing is that on top of trying to get caught up, he took 3 days off this week. Everytime I'm out of the office he takes a couple days off afterwards because he gets so stressed out. Unfortunately I can't fire him because I work for the state and can't fire anyone short of an actualy physical assault.

I've been watching a lot of the olympics but have become increasingly bored. They don't show any of the cool events because americans arent competetive. (ski jumping, biathalon, etc) The events they do show, they just skip most of the other competitors to get to the Americans. I'm still excited for the hockey tournament but the rest has been a huge disappointment thus far.

QOTD: have the "both feet in bounds" NFL rule used in the college game.

Well I just finished listening to a very depressing Sinatra song "What's new' from his FRANK SINATRA SINGS FOR ONLY THE LONELY album. Heck, the whole album is pretty damn depressing!

I didn't go to the movie yesterday as I wanted to go for a matinee so looks like i'm going on Saturday.

Oh and Valentines Day.....YUCK!

NFL overtime. I'm not sure if I would rather have the college overtime, but I just can't stand the NFL's version.

Slow day at work today. I still have yet to pick up a Valentine's card for the mrs. but will do that on the way home from work. We're not really exchanging gifts, but I might buy her some flowers. We've both spent a lot of money recently (360, my son's birthday party, a movie sac from the Love Sac, etc) so we need to save a bit of dough.

QOTD: I'd change the rule regarding being able to call a timeout while in mid air out out of bounds in college basketball.

Also, there should be some sort of penalty for NBA players who don't try during the regular season until come playoff time. What a difference in the quality of play!

Well I'm over the flu. It was one of those, 24-72 hour deals. Just got a lot of sleep and I was fine.

Now I will be able to take a date out.

Valentine's Day at High School is just sickening. :y4:

Looks like I'll be playing tennis on the Varsity and JV team, moreso on the JV team, which is cool with me. So, I'm going to the conditioning thing today even though it's optional, since I'll probably be JV Team Captain.
