News Post

It's Friday! I didn't think it would ever get here.

Anyways. Dan won their basketball game last night against the 11-1 squad. They were down 14-2 after the first period and came back to win the game. It was nice to see the team never give up. The playoffs start on Saturday and they will keep playing single elimination games until the champion is crowned. Wish em' luck!

I played some Madden 06 on the PC last night, along with some MVP Baseball 2005 w/ the latest mods. I have forgotten how good PC gaming is, I'll be reinstalling Battlefield 2 tonight.

Question of the Day: Do you keep all of your videogames or do you sell them when they get old?

In other news...
Happy Birthday to the following OS'ers!
stogie, marq (28), ballaholic23 (20), b_bearz (20), aran (20), bigmac16 (20)

Enough about me, what's up with you?

Random thoughts...

-I'm tired, physically and emotionally. TGIF.

-Both of my sons have Chicken Pox. However, with the way they tear through the house, it doesn't phase them one bit.

-Winter Olympics start today. The Ice Hockey tournament, which drops the puck next week, should be excellent. There's literally 4 or 5 teams that could win Gold.

-I've been playing a lot of NHL2K6 for the Xbox 360, and Torino 2006 for the Xbox. One game I absolutely love...care to guess which one?

-I plan on picking up Winning Eleven 9 for the Xbox today, and possibly MVP 05 for my PC.

-Lately, I've been selling the games I no longer play. I used to trade them in at Gamestop or EB, but the trade-in value is ridiculous when you compare it to what you can fetch on Ebay.

I'm in a bad mood...

Here's the short version. A friend of mine, well, he's really close to my father in law, but I know him pretty well. Anyway. He went to the Super Bowl with a buddy of his, and they were planning on driving home after the game. They were just outside of Detroit and stopped for gas/munchies. My friend was jumped from behind with a tire iron and then beaten unmercifully for 5 minutes. He was life flighted back to Cleveland and while his bones and bruises will heal, he has to undergo therapy to regain motor functions and the ability to speak again. The whole act was caught on surveillance camera.

I'm completely disgusted. This guy and his wife are 2 of the nicest people I have ever met.

I kept all the videogames even if its popular. I sold the old games because there's soft of bugs during the course of the game like NBA 2K5 and MLB 2K5. They're not a good sporting game back then. I rather keep the demo disks mainly I don't play some demo disks. I only play some popular demo games that is not much violence.

Goin to Mammoth today!!!

EG - Sorry to hear that. Did they catch the person who did this? I assume since it was on surveillance, they either did or are going to. I can't imagine having to learn everything all over again (walking, talking, eating, writing etc..).

As for me, I'm also in a not so good mood today. I'm tired and don't feel to good. Sore throat and my head's pounding. I just love being at work when I don't feel good. Hopefully people leave me alone.

I usually get rid of games after I'm done with them. Once the new version of a sports game comes out, I'll get rid of the old one. I never make much money (EB or Ebay - although Ebay is much better), but I also don't really have a need for the game so even $3 is better than $0.

Geez EG that's sickening. Was there any provocation or did the just go psycho on your friend?

Anywho as for me, not much is going on. I'll be going to see the new PINK PANTHER on Monday or Tuesday. (woohoo!) Lately i've been on a history kick. Right now i'm reading about Augustus Caesar and the Holy Roman Empire. Pretty interesting stuff if you ask me.

As for the QOTD: I keep my games. I don't know why but I do. I guess it's worthwhile to keep them. Who knows maybe i'll keep my PS2 after I buy an X360 or PS3.

EG, that whole situation sounds completely messed up. Hopefully the assailant gets his due and I hope your friend makes a full recovery.

Whether I keep a video game or not really depends on 1) if there's a newer version of the game out (I trade in the old Madden before buying a newer one, for example), and 2) how much I enjoy the game (I'm still holding on to a couple of really old games). That said, I have only traded PS2 and XBOX games; I still have my entire PS1 and Sega Genesis lineups of games, all in working order too, which is nice.

I have a psychology test in 25 minutes. I think I'm okay for it though. After that I'm gonna (hopefully) finally fix my graphics card once and for all so I can finally start and finish a Madden franchise on my PC.

Wow, EG... I'm shocked that wasn't on the news here... especially since they have video and February is sweeps. They do love to show the sex and violence in Feb and May. Hope the guys bounces back quickly.

Dinner with the family for G's Birthday was great last night. I think the kid has more money in the bank than I do now. My Dad never sent wads of cash to me! Guess when they change from Dad to Grandpa the wallet gets looser.

Snow started again this morning making the ride to work fun.

Looking forward to some relaxation and gaming this weekend.

I use to trade-in my games, now I usually go the Ebay route. It's just as easy and you get so much more for them.

# 8 ExtremeGamer @ 02/10/06 09:41 AM
They have it all on film, it was 4 guys. They have not caught them as of yet. My buddy was happy, as he's a big Steelers fan, now that was completely ruined 2 hours after the game was over.

Thanks guys!

That's sick man, I wish someone would beat all of them within an inch of their life and see how they like it.

As for the QoD, I sell my games on ebay as soon as I know I won't play them anymore so I can get top dollar.

Whats up:

I picked up my wifes new(used) honda element last night. Man, that thing has outragous amount of room (not too much to look at though), but takes up so little space in garage. Im 6'6", and can sit in back seat with no problem, and can lean the chair all the way back and snooze while the wife drives; i like it.

I cant believe your friend got jacked like that. That is unreal. I can never imagine the mentality of people like that, nor would i ever want to. Did his buddy get jacked as well? Its a great reminder of why sometimes I cant stand the human race and some of the filth that inhabit it.

I would like to sell my games on ebay, but im one of those people that get too antsy the day a game counts out. I usually end up trading them in, not wanting to wait the 5-6 days it takes to do the whole ebay thing.

Well i'm a happy camper this morning. I just found out there's going to be a Marvin Gaye biopic!

Sadly due to rights issues with Motown it's only going to focus on the last years of his life.

At least there's going to be a good actor portraying Marvin (Jesse L. Martin) I know i'm going to be one of the first to flock to the movies to see this

Sorry to hear EG.. there are a lot of classless people in the world.. here's hoping he makes a full recovery..

as far as old games go, i do the trade in route.. reason being is that, while the value certainly isnt what it should be, it helps me pay less for a game that i want (i did a trade in for WE9 & had enough left over to pay off Toca 3)...

I keep all my games, when it comes to consoles/games/pc hardware I am like a packrat!

Happy to see the new Catalyst driver, I had issues running MVP05 after Catalyst 6.1, the graphical improvments where too good to revert back to a earlier driver. Cant wait to install 6.2!! Am I the only one that gets excited when new driver versions come out?

For the QOTD: I keep some, but the sports titles I sell right before the new version comes out.

I'm pissed off at my work. They kiss my *** for working all the time, and covering up everyone else's mistakes. Yet they are saying "I'm gonna be watched carefully" since I've missed counting today 3 days of work. I haven't called out sick before this in almost 4 months, and on top of that I was rushed to the hospital to find out I have a severe case of the flu? Then for them to have the cajones to pretty much say "If you can't handle retail get out?" Esp when I was left opening and closing when people call out because of a "lil headache?" Give me a f'n break. I'm seriously going to look for another job I'm thinking. Yes the benefit and pay is nice, but to get my *** kissed when I bail them out of crap they put themselves in, and then they turn around and try to throw me under the bus when I really am sick.....digusts me. I work around animals morons. Not only that but we have a ton of pregnant women at work too. I'm trying to spare both of those for having to go through getting the flu. I was so stunned and pissed when I heard that from someone at work today. Least I know where I stand with those ***holes now.

Sounds pretty rough. Im glad i work in a company where they dont care when you come and go, as along as you get your work done. I think people are alot more productive in that type of environment.

I used to get rid of them, not just between systems, but from one release of a game to another. Now I find I enjoy being able to go back and play previous versions of games from time to time

Have fun............

EG--My best to your friend...Just another reminder of how dumb people are. My prayers go out to him and his family.

Due to having some principles, I resigned from my coaching position today. Another coach in the program has some "issues", and I, along with another coach, refuse to be associated with that. I am a little sad about a 10 year coaching career coming to an end, but I hope the school sees this guy for what he is. Maybe I will be back next year or maybe it is time to move on. It's gotta be about the kids and helping them get to the next level and enjoy baseball. Some coaches think they are winning when their team goes well. It is not about the coach. Hopefully, something can be worked out. It's one of those situations where everyone knows it, from the AD to Principals to players and parents, but nobody wants to step up. I guess I will have a lot more OS time and gaming time.

I trade in my games when I pre-order the new version. I usually get more money than if I wait to the end and it gives me a break from that game for a month or so.

Chicken pox? I thought they gave shots for that when they are born?

You love Torino 2006?

Yeah, EB trade in sucks!

Wow, sorry to hear about that EG. Hope he makes a full recovery and they hang those guys by their testacles and let them rot.
