News Post

First of all, I'd like to thank NYJets for stepping in for me while I was gone. It was a very long trip, almost 8 hours of driving each way.

Anyways, my grandmother is doing very well. She is walking around with the help of walker and is in good spirits. It was nice to see some of the family that I haven't seen in years. It has been almost 3 years since the last time we visited. She'll be going through some physical therapy for another week, but should be home by next week.

My daughter had her 4th birthday on Sunday, so while we were in Tennesee, we had a small party for her. She was so happy, she claims she is a "Big Girl" now. haha...

Just before we left to Tennesee, actually...About 4 hours before we left, we were in a store. Well, Nat has this thing where she runs up to me and grabs my leg. Well, usually I expect it, this time...I didn't. My knee, yes...the same knee I tore my ACL on, has been bugging me ever since. I guess I'm going to have to get the docs to check it out, but I'm going to wait it out for the week and see if it gets better. Basically she almost tackled me by taking my knee out, it was unbelievably painful. I sure hope it is nothing serious.

What's with the blowouts in the NFL playoffs? I honestly don't care who wins, but I'd love to see some competitive games. I sure hope the Super Bowl is competitive, if not, these playoffs haven't done much for me this year.

Kobe had 81 last night, yeah...81. 28 out of 46 shots, unreal.

The Pistons had a scare last night, almost getting bounced by the Rockets on a late 3 pointer. It rimmed out and the tip in didn't go, the Pistons improve their record to 33-5.

In other news...
Happy Birthday to the following OS'ers!

Enough about me, what's up with you?

Saw Glory road over the weekend, really enjoyed it. The football games stunk, LeBron went off for 51 and I HATE the Indians trading Coco Crisp for propects and cheaper players.

at the flying car.

Went to bed at 4 am last night, woke up at 10 so I could get back closer to my school routine. But when I woke up, my lymph nodes were huge, so I might have a sickness coming my way...

Glad to hear that you're back, Steve, Glad to hear your grandmother is doing well.

My former middle school in my hometown (also Chris Berman's hometown) was #7 on SportsCenter's/Berman's Top 10 Plays of the Week. Some mascot threw in a halfcourt hookshot. Cool that we get quite a few shoutouts since Berman is from my town. We usually get one or so month.

I didn't watch a single second of either football game yesterday. The NFL completely bores me nowadays. All the teams are so mediocore, there are so few stars left in the NFL.

UConn had a good win on Saturday night at Louisville, though UL is seriously in a downward spiral. Still a solid victory on the road.

Didn't do much else this weekend, spent alot of time in the gym. Lost $120 on Pokerstars this weekend. Had so many suckouts and bad beats, but that's poker. Put a nice dent in my weekly winnings though, dropping it from $460 down to $340. I figure I'll take a break from it tonight since I have two adult league games.

No good matchups really during the week in college ball which is dissapointing.

What's up w. you guys?!

The NFL games this weekend were a bore.

Watched some College Basketball over the weekend especially Georgetown beating Duke.

On Sat, went over to my sister-inlaws house we had dinner and watched a bunch of Friends episode. I have all of them on DVD, seasons 1-10.

Sunday, me and mife Wife took my Grandmother out to lunch. Then came back home and was hoping to see some good football. I finished reading the Da Vinci Code, great book. Can't wait for the movie to comeout in May.

That's it for now.

Glad to hear your grandmother is doing well, Steve.

Things are slow at work today as it is Mid-term week (ah, the life of a teacher! The jokes are true). It's a good chance to get caught up on things, which I should be doing now.

The weekend was pretty tame. I got a lot of MVP in. I like the game a lot more than I thought I would. I am actually pretty attached to my UNC squad. It is a solid, innovative game.

Other than that, have a good day.

Glad your grandmother is doing well Steve.

Well i'm kinda POed at the moment. I've been having some problems with my disabiity benefits for about a year and a half now. I used to get 600 bucks a month, then 500+, currently $426 and now they're cutting it again!

Seems the problem stems from my mother opening an account with 5 Gs that would collect interest for me.

The damn people say that because I have this money (which I won't be touching unless there's a major emergency) that's why my benefits are being melted away to chickenscratch.

It's VERY hard for me to find a job (I haven't had one in 8 years) and I have no kind of spending money to speak of. (I only have $121 in my debit account at the moment, soon to be 60 something as i'm buying DALLAS season 4 tomorrow)

I'm getting fed up with this. My mother and I have been telling these people that I can't afford any kind of luxuries with the lowly ammount of money I get because virtually all of it goes to housing/cable bills!

I think i'll just say "screw it" and invest in T-Bills (it's basically a lock for increased money) and if they take away my benefits so be it.

Sorry for the rant.

No offense, but couldn't you pass on Dallas Season 4 then?

LOL, you guys are just very young and were a bit overhyped to start the season. No one to blame but the media for that. You guys will be fine in the near future.

Oh for sure. Having followed them closely all year, they are on an up swing right now. Like I said before, it's all good for me though. Having known how vastly overrated they have been all year has made me some money since I always bet against them. UConn being favored by only 6 on Saturday was like stealing candy from a baby.

Haven't filled this out in a few days so....

- Week 2 of college at Kent St. starts today. All I have is two classes today, so it won't be that bad.
- Between my aunt being sick and school stuff and working on a relationship, I really haven't had time to watch many sporting events. I've seen parts of a few basketball games, the college football all-star games, and a good chunk of the SEA/CAR game, but thats about it.
- I've hit a point in my life where I've realized that I may have wasted so much of my life already because of my mindset and approach to life. I've tried to be as nice to people as humanly possible and I've tried to maintain near-perfect morals because I thought that all would get me somewhere. For the past few years I've put everyone's feelings ahead of mine and that has really started to take a toll on me in the past month and I've just been really depressed (with a few happy moments thrown in). As for the morals part, I seriously haven't done anything that I shouldn't have in life (i.e. drinking, sex, etc), but I'm realizing that even the best of people let their guard down from time to time. I've spent so much time and effort trying to keep up my good image in front of people and I realize its not worth the stress. The only reason I think I keep it all up is because I know there's always that threat of a drinking problem or something. Who knows, I'm working on it all right now and eventually I'll get back to my old, happier self.

Whats up OS!

Im really trying hard lately to make time for all the aspects of my life that i want to find time for, but am failing miserably. My son always comes first, as he is so much fun now to be around (will be 2 in april) that i find everything else taking a sideburner. This is fine, but my work is getting really backed up, as well as a few other things that need attention. The way i look at it though is he is only this age for a little bit, then he will start to become independent and not spend as much time with me (hope not!). Video games have become almost non existant lately, save a few quick games of winning eleven or fifa on the 360. Im starting to miss the days of being able to sit down for a few hours and just playing. If we have another child, i would think my gaming days would almost come to an end! My wife and i arent sure if we want another child though. Any others here in that boat? I hate to not have another sibling for him, but at the same time i would love to concentrate all my time with him. Im sure once he is out of this stage i will want another one to go through it all again. Hope everyone is doing good, and heres to hoping the hoosiers can pull one off tommorow at Iowa!

Hey, forensic.. raise that boy good so he can play games with you.

It's the perfect parenting strategy.

LOL, I try not to introduce him to games too much, and I always imagine raising him on atari, then move up the line until he gets to the current gen system. I think he would appreciate more what has become of the games. He loves cars though, and likes to watch me play PGR3 on the 360, and always takes the controller away from me and tries to play. I was at best buy the other day and the 360 was set up and he ran over to it and kept saying "drive daddy, drive!". Thats when i decided enough of the video games for now!

LOL, he sounds like a cool kid to hang around.

Take it from somebody who has two kids. We're blessed to have a boy (4) and a girl (2), but man are they a lot of work! Honestly, when you have one child, you do think life is crazy and it's hard to get a break to yourself. However, once that second child comes along, look out! You'll look back to when it was just you, your wife, and your son and think "damn, life was mcuh easier". Seriously, you don't realize how much independence you have with one child. When you're tired, or just want to run to the gym, the store, wherever, you can hopefully hand him off to your wife. When you have two kids, you're playing man to man. No longer can you play zone defense. That said, I don't think I would have been happy with just one child. They're really starting to play a lot together now and it's awesome watching them. Sure they tease and fight with one another, and it's always chaotic until they go to bed, but it feels right. Whatever decision you make, it'll be the right one.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has thought the NFL playoffs have been a bore. Aside from the Steelers/Colts game, which shouldn't have been that close it's been a weak post season. I'm pulling for the Seahawks because they haven't been to the big game, but I honestly don't care one way or another. As long as the Patriots aren't in it, I'm happy.

Well, my Jayhawks whipped the Corn Huskers by 42 but they still are a long ways from making the tourney. They're wildly inconsistent, but if the core stays together for a couple years, they'll be a top five program once again. They are so incredibly fun and frusturating to watch all at the same time.

Today's the big election day here.

Everything points to a new government. It looks like the Conservatives will either have a Majority or minority government.

It will be interesting to see how much Canada changes under a new government. I do know the GST will be cut to 6% right away. Less taxes are always a good thing on the surface.

It's going to be a minority gov't IMO. Canadians may elect Harper and the Conservatives but the support is VERY minimal.

Good to hear your grandmother is doing fine, Steve.

I haven't posted in these threads for about a week, so I have some good news. I made varsity for tennis! There are 9 starting spots, I'm #10, so I'll get some good matches in. Here's the kicker, the JV Coach has to go to Europe for 3 weeks for some Model United Nations trip, so the other reserve/sub (Shawn) and I get to coach the JV team while he's gone. :y4:

Finals week this week, should be boring, then a 3 day weekend.

Go Seahawks!!
