We have just posted our 2005 Operation Sports Year End Awards. A big thanks to Clay Shaver for taking the time to get it all together!
"Welcome to the 2005 Operation Sports Year End Awards. For the 4th consecutive year, the Staff at OperationSports.com is proud to present our picks for the best offerings from the industry this year. This year, “The Stevies” as we like to call them, are being chosen 100% by the dedicated Staff at OS. What does that mean? While some would think it would make for a boring vote from a small group of like-minded contributors, the OS Staff is actually made up of people from all over the country, from all different backgrounds and age groups, with only one common trait – a love for sports gaming."

2005 Operation Sports Forum Poster of the Year

No Winner

We asked the Forum Moderators and the rest of the OS Staff to submit a list of their Top 3 posters and why they choose them. Every single list that was submitted was completely different that the one before. Essentially we would be looking at about a 30-way tie. So what does that mean? Not to get all Hillary Clinton on you, but it takes a village to make a great community like we have on the OS Forums. You are all a piece of the puzzle. You all deserve to win. Thank you all for making the OS Forums the best community on the ‘Net
I love it!

Good list guys. If it weren't for the freezing issues, I would say that MLB 2006 was the most improved game from 2005, as well as the best baseball game. Last year I thought it was horrible, but it was very good this year, with room for improvement.

NBA 2k6 is probably the best sports game in the last 5 years. Think about it, it's hard to find something better.

Agree with everything except baseball game of 2005, MLB 2006 all the way.

BTW - I know I was top poster of 2005.

Excellent choices, all ...

Though add me to the MLB 2006 bandwagon. I know I'm in the minority, but I really think that took the crown in the baseball race.

I have to say I agree with every single pick, except for Forza...but thats because I never played it.

# 8 Perceptor @ 01/02/06 03:16 PM
I loved the awards part too...Well done I am in pure agreement about NBA 2K6 It's the best basketball game I've played in a long time

I agree with most of the results of the awards.

So we're all top posters eh?

Time to do a group hug and sing. Hit it maestro!

I thought the shot stick was a better innovation than vision cone passing, but I agree with everything else.

# 11 billmatic @ 01/02/06 03:44 PM
can't really argue with much on that list. good job.

# 12 Acid @ 01/02/06 04:01 PM
Great awards, I agree with all of them except for American Wasteland, because I haven't played it.

Nice work guys.

2k games were in a league by themselves with simulation, and online play this year. Good choices.

Ok, don't see Forza being racer of the year. I would give it to Burnout Revenge.

Non Sports game of the year - Call of Duty 2

Sleeper game of the year - WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2006

Innovation - Shotstick, easily

That's really the only things I differ on. Dissappointment as well, because I don't think EA was that bad, as Tiger Woods is great on the 360. But Live and Madden were so disappointing that I can see it and can't really put a finger on another really disappointing title.

Maybe ESPN MLB2K5, as I was really disappointed in it.

SDVRaw2006 would've been another very good choice for sleeper game. I just picked it up after renting it earlier and have still been playing the hell out of it[when giving the 360 breaks]

Oh and btw...don't listen to everyone, MVP was the best baseball game

The only things I would disagree are for Football (I liked Madden 06 in my time with the PS2 version) and I prefered Half-life 2 on the PC would get my 2005 Non-Sports Game of the Year. I see that NBA 2K6 got alot of awards and even 2k sports got the dev. Though Basketball is where they shine without any Hoops games they would not have that award. Hopefully that "good" from the Bball translates into a good Baseball game on the 360, you know the whole story about that. Anyways I rented NBA 2k6 on PS2 from that expierence it was alright but since I got a 360 It's been nonstop for me, Maybe even considering College Hoops 2k6 when it comes to 360.

I would agree, however, the online difference between Chaos Theory and COD2 is staggering and thats why I would choose SC:CT.
