NBA Rookie of the Month to Take on Gamers in Latest Xbox Live ‘Game with Fame’ Session

Rookie center for the New York Knicks, Channing Frye, is stepping off the hardwood to bring his talents to Xbox Live®. Fans that are interested in going one-on-one with Frye will need to keep an eye out for the Xbox Live gamertag ‘ChanFryeGWF’ on Thursday, December 22 from 6:15 PM to 7:15 PM ET to challenge him in NBA Live 06® for Xbox®.

“It has always been my dream to play in the NBA and now that I have my name and likeness in a video game it is a little overwhelming,” said Frye. “The Knick fans have been great and we are really building something special, so I can’t wait to grab the Xbox Live headset and get to know some of the fans. They just better take it strong to the hole, because I’ll be waiting to reject any weak stuff. ”

Frye, the eighth overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft, ranks second in scoring (14.8 ppg), field goal percentage (.514 percent) and blocks (.95 bpg) and third in rebounding (6.5 rpg) among rookies. Frye recorded 20-plus points in three consecutive games from Nov. 16-20, becoming the first Knick rookie to do so since Gerald Wilkins during the 1985-86 season and the first New York player to do so off the bench since Latrell Sprewell during the 1998-99 season. Aside from being one of the Knicks bright young stars, Channing is an avid video gamer and computer aficionado, maintaining his own website www.channingfrye.com.
