News Post

Well? Tell us about your Xbox 360 horror stories. It's very hectic at work today, so I have to keep it short. What are your first impressions of the system?

Other than me trying to shake this sickness I still have, there isn't much going on. It seems like it's raining almost every day. I hate this weather.

I heard about Detroits' hockey coach collapsing during the game last night. I only caught the tail end of it, anyone know what happened?

In other news...Happy Birthday to the following OS'ers!
MattG, GilCanPass (15)

Enough about me, what's up with you?

I think he suffered from seizure and he's in stable condition right now.

Still waiting to get my system at TRU. My wife decided to have the carpets cleaned today for the holidays so I am stuck waiting for the carpet guy! Of all days !!

After reading a lot of impressions, I am very gun shy about opening up the games in my bundle. I think I have to try to make some switches.

Other than that everything is great. Its raining like mad here, they showed on the news people waiting in these long lines for the 360, not good.

Oh wow. And this happened during the game, right? Was there mass chaos? How did the paramedics get down to the ice? Wow, that must have been pretty scary. Hope he's ok.

Why does life treat people that way sometimes?

I didn't venture out last night to see the crazy people waiting in line, but I'm willing to bet there were quite a few of them out there, lol. Tell those carpet guys to hurry up, LOL.

Nice! Yup, NBA 2K6 is off the chain! I loved it on Xbox and now I just can't get enough of it on the 360.

It wasn't the Coach... it was Jiri Fischer (a 25 year old Defenseman). He's in stable condition and awake and talking at Detroit Receiving. They diagnosed a heart abnormality in the kid in '02, but he was OK to play. Only missed two practices.

Basically, last night he had a seizure and his heart stopped. They did CPR and had to hit him with the paddles (electronic defibulator). The docs were right behind the bench.

Posted it twice, eh? :y4:

Xbox 360 is very awesome, I was a little upset though. My EB couldn't find NBA2K6, so I wasn't able to get that last night, and it was the game I REALLY wanted to try. Project Gotham Racing 3 is great, I really like that game. FIFA 06 plays well, I just need to get used to the controls some more.

I was trying to get it to the top of the Main Page, didn't work very well.

You have HD?

Acid, if you somehow die in a very, very peaceful way within the next couple of hours, make sure your family sends me your system

Hey guys,

I drove past the brand new Best Buy that opened in Valley Ranch on Saturday on my way home yesterday, and at 6:30, there were already around 50 people lined up outside it looked like. They opened at 9:00 this morning, and when I drove by on my way in, it looked more like 200 people. And the store had 50 Xbox 360s. I have no desire to get one, but from seeing how much they are selling on Ebay, I was tempted to try. I wasn't going to wait in line for it, though.

As for me, I'l still thouroughly enjoying Call of Duty 2 on PC. I still can't imagine every playing FPS games on a console. The controls with a mouse and keyboard are so much easier. Played on our server we're running from my office again last night. We're finally starting to attract random people to play. Had 24 people on it the other day. We're running it on a pretty old PC, so that's about all it can handle, but I've played on some 64 player servers, and that can get pretty crazy, especially with all the small maps that shipped with the game. I can't wait for the SDK to be released so we can start having some custom maps.

Well, that's all from me for now. I need to do some actual work.

I went by that same BB, at about 11:30, it didn't really seem to be that many people out there. Maybe 20-30. There were a lot of cars but I didn't see many people. Not sure about this morning though.

Hmm, maybe the people got tired of sitting outside with no tents, so went back to their cars and slept there. Of course, that parking lot has been almost half full of cars for 2 weeks, and the store wasn't even open yet then, so who knows. Plus, I was driving by pretty fast, and really just glanced over, so my 50 people could have been 20 people that looked like more. This morning, though, at about 9:00, there were at least 150 people.

SDK? CoD2 only supports 8 on Xbox Live, kinda sucks.

Software Development Kit. Basically, a scaled down version of the tools Infinity Ward used to make the game with. Map editor, image reader, etc. How do the servers work for Xbox live? Are they all hosted by IW and/or Microsoft? With the PC version, you can use the game to run a dedicated server just by copying the main game files to the PC you want to act as your gameserver.

# 20 Steve_OS @ 11/22/05 02:58 PM
Oh, I see.

From what I've read the servers are on the MS side. You can't host a game yourself, at least from what I can tell.
