GameSpy has posted their review of WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2006, giving it 4.5 out of 5 stars.
"For a long time, I've felt that the SmackDown series got a lot of critical acclaim but was flawed and too arcade-like to be truly great. It is with SmackDown vs. RAW 2006 that the franchise finally lives up to the hype. With new features, including the killer GM mode and highly improved visuals, it's absolutely the best wrestling game to release on this generation of consoles. Except for the fact that as of release day, the online sucks. It could get fixed, but it's currently quite bad. Aside from that, after nearly four years of disappointing WWE games across every platform, there's one that lives up to No Mercy. If you're a fan of wrestling games or wrestling in general, you owe it to yourself to cop this one."
