We have just posted our Winning Eleven 8 review. Find out what Dale Erickson has to say about it.
"Konami is back with the latest installment of their award winning soccer series with “Winning Eleven 8 International”. This series has always been at the top of its game, but recently the "FIFA" series has started to close the gap. On top of that, the "FIFA" series has a lot of official licensing in its corner, which does a little damage in name recognition for soccer aficionados. “Winning Eleven 8 International” does have some real-world players, however. Using licenses from three of the top European Leagues (Spain, Italy, and Holland), Konami is able to help deliver some authentic players for those who feel that such things are a necessity. If you are a fan of the "Winning Eleven" series, you definitely will not be disappointed in “Winning Eleven 8 International”, but will you get your money’s worth by buying the latest version? Let's find out if the newest installment is for you."

If any game deserves a 5, WE 8 is it.

Then what would a WE8 with the XBL play that got cut from the U.S. version deserve?

It's just that the 5 points system limits the ratings
Not really...too many people are concerned about the score only. Read the review! That's where one can get a feel for how good a game truly is.

Hmmm... I honestly think WE7 was better. The midfield game was far more realistic... I just see far too many long runs and too much time spent on either end of the pitch, rather than any real battle to GET the ball into the attacking zone.

WE8 took a step backwards in terms of gameplay.

I would have bought the game instantly if it had XBox Live support.

They lose.

Ignore your math, it doesn't necessarily apply. Read this:

While OperationSports.com grades on a five-star system, it is not meant to represent a "percentage grade".

5/5 - A rare and singular achievement in sports gaming. A "must-buy" for any serious gamer.

4/5 - An overall solid outing with few flaws. Worth purchasing for most gamers.

3/5 - A decent performance with room to improve. Fans of the sport/series will likely enjoy it, but others may wish to rent before buying.

2/5 - A disappointing effort. Rent before buying - at best.

1/5 - A poor game with significant flaws. Only for the very brave, very patient, or obscenely wealthy.
