"Now, for the simulation games. The NBA is in the process of hammering out the details of this agreement. Initial impressions from those in the know told IGN that the deal will enable any publisher to make basketball games using the NBA license. So, there will be no exclusivity to any company. That means EA, Midway, Take-Two/2K Games, and whoever else could make hoops games. But, this agreement hasn't been completed yet or signed. Thus, this speculation could change -- in favor of an exclusive to one company, or perhaps two. We'll know more on this one, hopefully, in the next two to three weeks."

That is good news for now.

"As for NCAA hoops, one rumor we heard said that EA has the exclusive deal on all NCAA games, from football to basketball and baseball. One good source that they 2K Games expects to make college basketball games this year, and in the coming years, which would thus mean EA didn't lock down any exclusive on college hoops. But of the two sources we spoke with, neither could confirm."
